User Experience Designer

Responsibilities

  • While concentrating on delivering the best user experience, filling a variety of sometimes unforeseen project needs will be expected
  • Use initiative, creativity and innovation to drive effective design and process ideas to fruition
  • Produce appealing, engaging and usable interface design solutions that optimize among customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities
  • Directly responsible for all aspects of design, from delivering concepts and prototypes to UI specifications
  • Compare, contrast, and prioritize various design solutions, taking technical, resource, and time constraints into account
  • Leverage rapid prototyping and frequent customer interactions to inform design directions
  • Work with Development and Quality Assurance Teams to scope projects, and ensure designs are implemented and tested to specifications
  • Track and report project status
  • Proactively identify project risks and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Set reasonable expectations for deliverables, and reset when necessary by engaging decision makers at appropriate levels
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and industry trends, from the core applications being developed to new design tools

Requirements and Skills

  • Strong portfolio available for viewing
  • Minimum BA/BS degree in product/interaction design, human factors or related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of user interface design experience with Web applications and sites
  • Flexibility, intelligence, versatility and proactive volunteering to identify any project needs and meeting them creatively
  • Expertise with design tools, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Visio
  • Proficient in a variety of methods to convey ideas and concepts (e.g. wireframes, prototypes, presentations, etc)
  • Knowledge of web technologies and their impact on design feasibility
  • Tolerant of a range of project types, from vague to well-defined, simple to complex, implementation to innovation
  • Ability to switch easily between different projects and flexibility to handle a rapidly changing environment
