No you don’t lose the money no matter what. Dont listen to these children that just want it the way they want it. I have had my connection drop and I still to this day have not gotten penalized 40,000. There just mad that they suck and they can’t quit when ever they want. Get better and stop whining like little kids and grow up. Play the game as is and get used to it. You have no say in what ND does to there games ultimately they choose and make it happen. Once your in the game, your in the game for good there is no copping out. Get better kids cause if not your world is about to get a whole lot worse!

This is a lie ... I’ve been disconnected on several occasions without penalty.

You’re only penalized if you manually quit several times.

In fact, I’ve quit twice due to lag (several days apart) with only a 30 second penalty and no cash deducted. I would imagine the cash deduction only comes after several quits in a row.

Besides 40k isn’t really all that much ... it’s a completely fair penalty.

If you know you have a bad connection or won’t play for a full game continue playing off-line, lol. I like that system it keeps the game going.

actually ivd turned off my ps3 many times in the middle of the match for reasons not related to the game then i go on the multiplayer 5 min later and nothing has been deducted i dont know why that works

it may not look like people are quitting because their still in the game.. but some just go and hide so they don’t die and just don’t play its the same thing i don’t think this really fixed any thing.

You made me crap my pants. However,All2000 (as much as I hate to admit it) does have a point: it isn’t COMPLETELY fair that people who have bad connections lose 40k, however you are right in saying that this should give them motavition to fix it.

As for everything else, I think you and the other gracious people said it all: be grateful for x2 cash, and most of all, the opportunity to be a fat bad guy.

I’m with you All2000, I gave back my copy to EB Games and demanded my money back… after a very persuasive argument , they gave it to me in full. This was not the game I bought, if this information was disclosed before it was released then I’m sure many would not have purchased it, including myself (I would have just rented it instead).

The good news is that BFBC2 is an AMAZING multiplayer experience and the good news is that if someone quits or gets disconnected someone else joins to replace them, NO PENALTIES, NO PROBLEM!

I’ve always been a huge fan of ND but this dumb move tarnishes their reputation IMO! How can they overlook implementing having players joining mid game????

ok after reading your comments all2000, i have decided your pretty much right. sanctions for quitters is to discourage quitters to try and make the game better, or maybe fairer (i have some issues about fairness in this game myself) but having people join to replace quitters isnt too bad an idea, personally i hate joining games in progress but better than a 40k sanction, or if there is a penalty like -40k it shuld be temporary.

My God, All2000 you are an idiot disguised in pretty writing. I’m so glad one game had the balls to deal with those annoying little players that quit whenever things go their way. They are the same selfish kids in real life that cry when they don’t get what they want. I’m glad you guys aren’t playing anymore, if you aren’t going to play the game through the entire match, you might as well not play at all. Just because you suck at multiplayer doesn’t give you the right to bring down everyone else’s gaming experience. Naughty Dog did a great job, it’s funny how all these quitiers now are quiting the game for good.

Well as seeing as this is my last post on this blog, I have no issues with the penalty system now as I have giving my copy back to the retailer I bought it from. I bought 8 copies of Uc2 (for myself & my nephews), I now wish I didn’t! I have been a fan of ND since Crash Bandicot.

I will be waiting for at least a month the next time a ND multiplayer game is release, hopefully this type of system will be disclosed before release so I have the choice to decline purchase.

As for those calling myself and other users names and such, you won’t have to worry about me and many others quitting, we are not playing that’s it end of story… excuse me now I have some BFBC2 beta to play!

Hey guys (mainly direct at All2000), if you think uncharted two sucks, and the online isn’t fair, and you returned it blah blah blah… WHY THE HELL ARE YOU STILL POSTING ON THEIR BLOGS?? GET THE HELL OUT!!! Sorry about all caps. U2 has found a quick solution to prevent people quitting during matches. If you don’t like it, then return the game (as some have) and stop playing. If someone else quits a co-op experience, you keep money. If someone quits on a 16 player map, you can keep on playing. So please, if you don’t like the game, stop posting on the blogs.

WOW! I come back to this blog to see if there has been any progress on the penalty debate, only to find that I’ve been rake over the coals for having a difference of opinion? Childish name calling and verbal attacks are what the die hard fans of Uncharted 2 are about!

I was questioning whether I had made the right decision by giving back the game to the retailer. Well it seems that it was a great call, if this is what the Uncharted 2/ND community is about, I want no part of it.

I can be just as stubborn as ND (I’m regretting ever buying all those 6 other copies for my nephews). I will not be so quick to buy when the next ND (multi-player) game comes out. A rent for a week should do the trick!

40k seems low to me, you quit a game you NEED to be punished, your ruining the game for everyone else, its meant to be a Team effort to get as many points as possible!

Erh yes this is why I stopped playing.

Let me spell it out for you so you might get your head around it.

I have put 83 hours at least in the multiplayer, the core of the multiplayer is leveling up and gaining new boosters. The maps, the characters and the double cash weekends are just there to add to the core component of the multiplayer.

When you start messing with the core of what the multiplayer is, it has an effect on the whole experience.

So its not that im ungrateful for free content or a double cash weekend, its that the 40k penalty has put people off to the extent of selling their copy or not playing the multiplayer at all. This is because the core experience has been broken and leveling up in this game has lost its strong value of progression and no new amount content can cover that up.
Its like writing an essay and saving it only to come back to it the next day with some of it missing. Sure I can rewrite it again but why would you use a program that does this everytime you saved the essay. You wouldn’t you would use another program which doesan’t have this problem.

This is why people are saying about MW2 or BFBC2 beta, not because their fanboys of these games but because the core of those games works. You can trust that you won’t lose your progress or levels and thats what it comes to trust.

So far no one standing up for the 40k penalty has given me a valid reason for it. All I have got in return are insults from

I would be happy to read someones argument for the 40k penalty, which justifys punishing innocent players who don’t quit, with a penalty that was designed and implemented to ONLY punish quitters.

seriously that is a terrible reason to quit a game.  i love the new penalty because I’m getting sick of losers leaving because they are losing.  i say this is a awesome addition.  and game companies look into adding this same penalty.  if you have to go for any reason then finish the game.  it doesn’t take long in the first place and if you have to go right away then why are you playing a game if you knew that you had to leave in the first place.

You are clueless because everyone I repeat everyone that i have played with drops connection and still do not lose 40k I guess you must suck because I’m level 45 and that only happened to me once that because I quit other then that with my connection dropping it never happened like i said before get a better internet connection and stop crying already. I have a great internet connection and no problems kid so dry your eyes and if you don’t want to play no more don’t worry there are thousands of people that are still playing still to this day so have a good day

you do know when someone kicks you from a game it says “connection lost” maybe you should stop blowing up your teammates and they wont kick you
