Double Cash Weekend for Halloween

Halloween is only one day away and we decided we wanted to do something special for our fans over the weekend. We’re happy to say that this weekend is also our first ever Double Cash weekend in UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. The Double Cash weekend starts now (Friday, October 30, 2009) and continues until Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11:00 AM PST.

In every match during Double Cash Weekend, you’ll be getting twice the Cash award you normally would for completing typical game actions – not medal-related currency awards – giving everyone a leg up in increasing their Rank for a limited time. That means this weekend is the perfect time to hop on to our Competitive and Co-op Multiplayer modes – whether you’re just a few levels away from the vaunted ‘X’ or this is just your first time online.

A bunch of Naughty Dogs will also be playing this weekend, so be on the lookout for the red Naughty Dog paw next to our PSN ID in the game and feel free to say hi, ask any questions or shoot at our characters.

Stay sharp! There might be something spooky around the next corner…

I didn’t discuss Gold Rush or Survival, only Deathmatch as an example. The Co-op double cash modes are not based on kills.

Why is it so difficult to explain anything on this blog?
Are you guys not allowed to divulge any information on the online point/money system?
Here, I will even make an outline for you-

Heck, since I’m such a nice guy, I’ll even get you started:

I. In Competitve you get double cash for kills. That’s it. 500 a kill for Deathmatch and 100 a kill for objective.

II. In Co-op you get (Insert info here) and (insert any additional info here)

I don’t think I can make myself anymore clear…

The point is the play the game, have fun and get something extra out of it. We didn’t want to encourage people exploiting the system if we revealed everything—rather we wanted everyone to discover the rewards on their own. If we gave you all the answers all the time, what fun would that leave?

Hmmm........ok. Everytime I kill someone in elimination I get 500, not 250....I believe thats double. Connection problems?...Hmmmmm....I have been playing non stop and not one connection problem. Maybe you should go back to the COD homepage and complain about there being no map pack 4. Naught Dog, greatest game ever. Thank you.

Read it again, NOT DOUBLING MEDALS. In survival, you get $1000 for completing a round as opposed to $500, in death match $500 per kill as opposed to $250.

Hello, ND

While I enjoy the objective-based co-op a lot, is there a reason I have to be penalized for leaving matches set to easy? I’m around level 30 now, and know the three co-op levels (like what enemies will be where) like the back of my hand. Only hard and crushing matches offer any kind of fun, but I have no way of filtering the lesser difficulties in favor of the higher. I can’t even see what difficulty the match I’m going to play is until I’m at the loading screen, and by then it’s too late to leave.

This didn’t used to be a problem, as I could just drop out of an easy or normal match I didn’t want to play in, but now since I have no control over leaving (I don’t really want to drop in rank), I’ve been forced to think of creative ways to make the game fun on normal and easy. I’ve done things like “Can I make it through this level without using cover?” or “Can I make it through this level without aiming?” or “Can I hit that sniper high up with this rocket launcher while I’m in the air jumping down from a height that will kill me when I hit the ground while I don’t aim at him?”. I’ll also kill myself and let the other guys play through the certain level section while I read a review or two or something on my laptop and wait for the game to be over and hope maybe the next one will be hard or crushing.

I get many complaints about me doing these things, but nevertheless, I still end up outscoring the lower level players fooling around like I do when they’re playing serious. Should I be forced to play on a difficulty where I can run and gun four guys with my suped up uzi and kill them all while they’re shooting at me? You should be able to see why something like that isn’t fun.

So basically I’m looking for one of three things—1) You’ll make it to where I can filter harder co-op from easier co-op 2) Remove the penalty for leaving co-op matches I don’t want to play since I have no control over which ones I end up in, if you don’t want to do #1 or 3) Tell me creative ways I can have fun and challenge myself in the easier modes other than what I’ve tried so far. By the way, I totally nailed that sniper I was talking about with the rocket while falling to my death and not aiming. It was awesome.

Not really trying to be rude, but it is a pain. Easy co-op is sooo boring. But hard co-op is a lot more fun than something RE5, this game did it right. Unfortunately, I can’t access the co-op I actually want… it’s based on luck. I have added a couple guys near my skill level and we played some crushing today that was pretty swell, but I can’t count on those two to be on when I’m on, and vice versa all the time… so I’m left with low level randoms playing on easy. It’s just frustrating I can’t leave, and I would like a reponse.

press square during the menu screen it will take you to your profile and there you can set co-op difficulty to hard or crushing and you should only get hard or crushing hope this helps.

Yes, I know that too, but I can’t simply launch a game and wait for people to join it. You need at least two, and as I said, I can’t always count on the people I added to play these modes to be on. I also know that it affects what types of matches the game finds when I use matchmaking. However, I’d be more than willing to sit using my laptop while the game had to sit for however long and found a game I did want to play, rather than searching for and automatically putting me into a “close” or “any” game.

If I could simply find and play hard/crushing games only by making that adjustment in my profile, I would, but if I hadn’t from the beginning I wouldn’t be playing those games at all. But, since I’m in co-op the game assumes I want to play any co-op, and it’s not the case.

This doesn’t work if you are doing matchmaking. It takes whatever the lowest difficulty is of the players in the room.

No offense, but it does not. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I would not be able to start or find co-op without having made that edit in my profile already, correct? Clearly if the game is sometimes finding hard games for me to play (which will sometimes happen) I would’ve had to already done this. I don’t see why I should have to be penalized for leaving a game that’s too easy, especially when all the people in the co-op game are on the same side… it just doesn’t make sense. Why can’t the other two play without me? Instead, I’m jumping off cliffs and stuff while they clear checkpoints, waiting for the game to end.

It doesn’t. I get put it into easy and normal matches despite my having set it to hard, and it wouldn’t have been putting me into hard matches which I luckily get sometimes without me having made that edit in my profile in the first place.

Its the other way around for me. Shows me as 39 at ND but 40 in the game lobby.

Also the players met is not fixed for me.

Though I’ve not had a connection error on my end that cost me the 40k or rank, when me and my friend ae playing co-op custom game, his connection fails and he is docked for something out of his cotrol. This isn’t fair or right for so many reasons already listed and should deffinately be rethought. I do however appreciate getting a little cash for the work done when someone does piss off on you. Please serioulsly make the distinction between leaving or true connection error.

hey I lost 40,000 just because of leaving a match today! i quit the game because my character freezez in the middle of the game!! Imagine that in a middle of a gun fire..WTF is this?!?!?! I’ve been playing for almost 2 weeks and this the first time I got this problem..maybe because it’s hollween..whatever!!!

Hi guys, i just want to report a ugly and annoying bug in the lost city and the ice cave maps, i watched first in a elimination match, we cant find the one last dude from the enemy team, thats because he was hiden “out of the map” climb, but he can shot to anybody but we cant shoot him and thats the way we lost the match. The second time in the Lost city map i was the guy out of the map, right on the low stairs and the tunel, i try to go to pic a pistol, and when i try to climb , i go out of the map, but i cant return in so i release and fall down. Please fix this bugs before people know it.

let me start by saying that u guys have ruined the game with your new quit penalty, first fix match making (team of 40+ against 15 and under is not a match) second, let me leave a lobby if a game mode comes up that I dont like (I want to play RPGs only, not chain reaction) third, split up your playlists a little more (plunder in one, variant in the other, NOT MIXED!!!!!) THEN maybe add a punishment for quitting, as it stands, MW2 will KILL your MP game

Have to say this is the comment I agree with the most.
I’m only level 16 and there have been numerous times where there is me and guys under level 20 against a team of level 35-40+ guys.
We are lucky to score half the kills before the other team anialate us.
It was so funny for one guy on the other team he nicknamed us the “blue” team because of our emblems against their level 30+ team.
Matchmaking is a joke and it is sheer luck if you get a decent split of levels.

I feel ya, I can’t ever get a gold rush game, even when the vote is split it goes to survival. Earlier it was between gold rush in the plaza and gold rush in the sanctuary, but then the game dropped before it even started.

I hear you. I’ve been trying to get in a game of gold rush all morning but it’s not happening. Even when the vote is split it goes to survival. Twice the choices were gold rush for either option. Both times I got a connection error that booted me, once before the game even started.

It wouldn’t really be “Co-op” anymore then would it? Our all of our Co-Op modes are built for team-based play, so we’re not looking at lowering the minimum players at this time.

Do not join any playlist unless you have 20 minutes to spend in a match mode you might not vote for. By quitting, you are saying “F U” to the 9 other people that turned on the game to have fun. I’m so happy there is some kind of penalty.

I’m a big fan of the game Uncharted 2 Among Thieves, the game is so great.
I buy the game in free recordshop in Tiel (the netherlands) as pre-order).
I have finished the game and now i’m playing online.
The ‘money’ what i have earned in the solo game you can use that by buy online stuff (boosters).
Now i have a big problem. I earned +- $400,000 in the game.
Now a few days later i see a error on the screen if i want buy something in the store.
I see This message: the profile is copy or change. You can’t earned money in the solo game.
But i have don’t do that. Exualy i don’t do anything!
And now my money ( $400,000 in multiplayer mode) is gone!!!!!!!!!!! if i watch on naughty dog.com and looking my profile i see that my money isn’t gone but the money is not correct!
Please can somebody help me what the problem is and get my money back!?
I’m sorry i don’t speak not so good English.

Help! did update and game won’t load now!
I tried rebooting a few times and yes i waited long enough for the update to finish....even got into the game after waiting about twenty minutes for it to load...started to play...died, respawned it kicked out and went to reload again and now it won’t go past the rotating dagger!!

I’ve been having trouble ever since the Halloween update came out. Now I keep losing connection to games (a problem I’ve never had before) or during matchmaking it’ll put me into a match by myself. Luckily I haven’t lost money or rank for “leaving” the game. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem.

GorgeousDre, lol? Some of your posts are rather amusing. From what I gather you have a real problem with the game. Therefore, If you dont like it, why dont you find another game to play?

TBH, the update is good, I find games faster and i have no real complaint. Except the “Double Cash Weekend” isn’t really what it says and makes some game modes completely pointless to play.

Still, I dont get little things like that get in the way of actually playing the game and having fun - which is what its all about. Good work ND.

I laugh at anyone who is complaining about this rage quitting penalty, they clearly have no honor for quitting.

You should be penalized for quitting. It really makes it tough on the rest of the players who stick it out. If you dont want to play...dont start the game. If you start it, then finish it.

I don’t think that forcing people into “costume” is a very good way to make a fun event.

Double money is kind of nice but it seems more like an enticement to people to keep playing, instead of a special event.

I liked the Halloween theme at first… then, I did a competitive game at the train wreck. NOrmally, you really have to seek people out. Seeing how my team’s eyes are glowing red, we were spotted from a distance.

I’m not here to complain (much), but I’ll probably just be avoiding train wreck or any of the dark arenas. You kow, I officiate youth league football. WHen you’re an official, people will yell and complain when you make a mistake (or not). We’re human, we’re not perfect, but we try our best to fix any mistakes we make. So please, fix the team matching and the quitting detterent so that only people who voluntarily quit are penalized. Also, fix the Double Cash, because I’m just not seeing how it is reflected. OR, just do it next time such a week occurs.

I have to leave a game early for personal reasons and I have to waste NINETY SECONDS OF MY OWN TIME, AFTER I PAID £50 for the * game. Then, I’m put down a level and have to spend the next 20 minutes REDOING WHAT I ALREADY DID.

EXTREMLY DISSAPOINTED in this new system. COMPLETE BULLSHIT. Why have the option to leave the game if we’re going to get penalised for it? I thought this is a game not a real * war.

I have noticed that players are getting under the maps and getting kneck break kills. A guy on PSN “mezo999” was doing it all game, he got 35-0 on turf war… so annoying. Other than that great work N_D

I just wanted to congratulate you on great game, and keep up the good work.
Just please try to fix problem with takig the cash and levels once players got disconnected.
It can be a bit frustrating…
Since I live in a country that doesn’t have excelent network connection.

ND - the game is incredible, but I think I was unfairly penalized for quitting when the lobby froze (about 5x’s this weekend), I waited around 5min but nothing happened so I quit the game then restarted and lost a whole level. I’m sure it’s busy but if I could get those points back that be awesome… Also in a Village co-op we lost the ground and buildings. I died a few time from falling through thin air. However, I still can’t stop playing.
