Changes are finally ALL pretty good instead of the playlist : “Elimination only” which is useless ...
Love so much the “Plunder only” and you guys should have put “Variant deathmatch only” =)
The new players’ health is pretty cool too =)
Keep all but the “Elimination only” and it’ll be pretty awesome =D

i will be very very upset if the 65% health becomes the norm. i hate it. i always liked uncharted 2’s multi because it takes skill and accuracy to get kills. before when i was being shot at i could use the terrain to my advantage and escape danger. now if i get seen first or from behind i die so fast i can’t even take cover. i really like the regular health setup. please please please don’t change all gametypes to this health or i probably wont play anymore. if i want to play a game where it’s first shot, first win i will play modern warfare.

anyways everything else is awesome about the game. my suggestions: have a ranked deathmatch/elimnation and a ranked objectives. me and my buddies stear clear of ranked because we dont care for objective based games.

a few things i noticed: if host quits and it resets, the cinema only shows up until the host quit, nothing after.

Hi again ND, thanks for the Plunder only playlist, that will hopefully stop my PSN friends from complaining about no plunder lol. As for the reduced health Im not a big fan of. I dont like games that make u die in just 2-3 bullets(MW2 for example) but also games that take too many bullets to die. (RFOM for example) I think U2AT had it perfect, not too many bullets required, not too less required. Anyway I agree with those who think reduced health should just get its own playlist, that way everyone’s happy. Thanks!

Thanks ND for listening to the community!  When you do implement the crushing playlist, PLEASE ALLOW BOOSTERS.  They add variety and make the game more fun to play.

Also, you can probably get rid of the ‘All Competitive Modes’ playlist.  In the long run it’s better to have fewer playlists so that it doesn’t take forever to find a game.

We all appriciate that Naughty Dog are not only trying to make this game’s already incredible multiplayer mode better, but even implementing a change temporarily and gathering feedback from players to see if this is what their audience wants. We are all truely thankful for the work they are putting in.

65% health is too low, and too big a change. An opponent can be killed with only one or two bullets. It has transitioned the game into a see-first-shoot-first style of play. But this has also made it evident that there are issues with the health being as high as it once was.

People have claimed that weapons like grenades, the hammer, RPG, and shotgun weapons are much too powerful compared to the others. There has been a controversy since this game was released that grenades (which can be thrown with pinpoint accuracy, explode almost instantly, are are the primary weapons used in Uncharted 2’s MP mode) were too effective. The mood with 100% health was; “Why bother shooting bullets when I could chuck a grenade between a guy’s feet and kill him instantly?” So it was less of a shooting game and more of a grenade-throwing and racing-to-the-hammer style of play.

Health should not be reduced to 65% percent, but if it is, than grenades, the hammer, the RPG, and shotgun weapons (which can kill from quite a distance now) should be made less effective. Many people didn’t believe they were too powerful, but we definately shouldn’t be able to be killed off by these weapons even more easily than before.

I would be open to, say, 75 or 80% health if we could give that a go as well.

After playing for a couple of hours I went from initially enjoying the lower health to absolutely hating it.  Being killed near instantly with the FAL is ridiculous.  I enjoyed this game’s strategy of finding cover when you come under fire.  Now, it seems as soon as you come under fire you are dead and these levels were not designed to play stealthy all the time. 

While the rounds certainly last a whole lot less the pace seems to be decreased as I imagine more people spend more time dead than alive.  Before I enjoyed building up those long streaks of kills but that really doesn’t happen nearly as much anymore. 

I think with some levels are designed you aren’t really going to see anything but teams camping out in key locations with the FAL waiting for the other team to make a move.  This will be exceedingly boring.

If people want some Crushing mode with boosters included make a special set of modes for that.  This has only sapped all the fun out of standard deathmatches for me as well as highly raise the frustration factor as I am sure it has done for many others.  Personally, unless ND decides to shorten this experimental period on this universal Crushing mode, I will probably not be playing this weekend

Great, I spend a half hour detailing my distaste for the “universal crushing” mode and the website causes an error and loses my post.  That’s almost as frustrating as this 65% health BS.  I hope ND will change its mind and not keep this up all weekend.  As for me I probably will not be playing till it is changed back.

Ok let me start off by saying I love your game, think its fantastic. Do you know what would destroy an awesome game really fast? Droping the health 65%. I have been waiting for the plunder playlist since the beta, I am extreamly happy you added threat but if this health drop stays it completely kills the compeditive aspect of the game, its simply not fun to run around killing people with the sniper with one shot. Its just the same game requiring less skill, and if that stays the same I will have no reason to keep playing and I know for a fact more then one of my friends will sell there disk

I just played a few matches..and personally, i love the new health system. Seriously Naughty Dog, you guys should make this the default health. No longer do i have to watch in frustration as a scrub takes 40 bullets and survives..plunder only playlist is cool but i could care less about that..id really like to see more maps in deathmatch and co op..also why cant we use the wes in multiplayer ?

Naughty Dog, I do not like the new health system. It’s too easy to kill and be killed. If I wanted to play Call of Duty, I would play Call of Duty. One of the reasons I like this game so much is because if you get shot from behind, the player still has a fighting chance. If your shot from behind now, you may as well drop the the controller and give up.

Okay so I gave the reduced health a try, because I didn’t want to judge the idea before even testing it. I absolutely *do not* like it. In fact, I will put the game down for the weekend, until things are back to normal.

One thing I liked about this game was that it was kind of “forgiving”. You could get shot a couple times, and still have the time to see which way they’re coming from and have a chance to retaliate, or else just try to find cover. Now with the reduced health, everything about this is gone. No more forgiveness for shots from the back, snipers & hammers are basically a 1-hit-kill, I have yet to find a positive aspect about the reduced health.

Consider this ND, you might wanted to please a certain crowd with the idea, but you will lose another one sticking with it. I don’t mind the idea of a Crushing Playlist, people who like it will play it and those who don’t obviously won’t, but affecting the reduced health to every mode on a permanent basis is not the way to please the two different crowds.

ND i don’t like the crushing health, i like being able to go up against somebody with a decent fight instead of quickly getting shot in the back once by a grenade or sniper rifle. I learned early on the if i wanted to kill someone fast than i had to aim at the upperbody or head. It really cheapens the stronger weapons, they should only give the player and advantage and not an instant kill

i hope they fix the issue of the Pump taunt for whatever reason after the 1st game update the pump taunt in the store section says its not available for purchase untill lvl 53 but we were awarded this taunt a long time ago how did that happen ?

Personally, I don’t notice a real difference when playing with the reduced health--although I play mostly arena. Speaking of which, still I’m still waiting for the fix so that players other than Drake can Riot Rock in Arena. It’s a pain in the ass when you knock down a shield guy and try to run over him--only to find him springing right back up and smacking you in the face.

yo ND i think the crushing mode is glitching already. see, i was just running and suddenly i died. but didn’t have a respawn count. and later on, i got pulled down even though i wasn’t near the edge. and when i respawned, i got hit by a grenade even though no one was there......

Unfortunately until now I had no time to take part in the experiement because I simply have too many games and had too little time. saturday I’ll take a look at the alteration. I promise.

I believe that health is more realistic and less tricky. Apart from that, there is no bulletproof vests;). I do not want any changes to the shotgun, could be in gegentel on the distance be stronger. the really applies to all weapons but that’s not bad. Finally, we call this an action game and a sony fan, I am eternally grateful for such an incredible game with as good an incredibly good multiplayer.

I have the text written with the Google language because my English is not quite as good. I hope you understand what I want to tell you. your loyal fan as long as UC2 exclusively remains - demonsgalor from germany!

I think it might possibly be a case of you will love it or hate it. Personally I’m enjoying it.

On the one hand my kills feel as if they have less skill behind them, but ironically when I get killed by the enemy I seem to be not as angry as usual, a lot of times in Uncharted I feel I have been screwed, I’m not getting that feeling with these new settings.

In fact I’m basically pwning guys from across the map with a pistol. I’m sure before ND fiddled with it pistol damage used to be a lot higher because I used to be able to do that anyway in the old beta days.

The only negative of it is, I feel it helps campers a lot more. I was playing “The Sanctuary” and I went up on top of the ladders for the first time with the FAL and got like 8 kills before anyone could stop me. Why should I run around the map when I can do that? This being said, I have yet to play a more close-combat map such as the Village or Ice Cave.

It’s too early for me to know if I’d like this to be a permanent change, I definetly would support some “crushing” playlists though. Would this divide the community though? If they do that I feel they will just make Crushing Objective and Crushing Death match. Unless they go the other route and make the game always like this.

This is terrible. Health is WAY too low. There’s no incentive to try other weapons since most are either noe one-hitter-quitters, or do so much damage that they might as well be since your opponent has no time to find cover, or plunk off more than one shot before dying. Scrub mode.

Here’s a suggestion, while you’re fine-tuning stuff: make Gold Rush separate from co-op Survival. I get tired of wanting to play survival, and sometimes there’s ONLY the option to play Gold Rush.

Here’s another suggestion: fix collision detection. Nobody should be able to laugh off 4 close-range headshots with ANY weapon, turn and return fire.

One more: an OFFLINE multiplayer mode, either splitscreen with a friend in co-op or versus, or by yourself against other cpu controlled heroes or villains.

What you’re doing right: more stages. The Fort is awesome. I would hope you guys could give us a multiplayer stages, one for every stage in the single player mode.

The plunder only is great! However, the lower life just means if you are not skilled you will be killed a lot! I hope the lower health flops, because after trying it, it sucks! They should offer people the option of difficulty to change the health if they feel they are up to the challenge. So now the skill levels that are set buy winning matches will really bite people in the butt when the people that are really skilled at killing are pretty much invincible thanks to lower health. Good luck to any new people attempting to play this game if the lower health sticks.

My initial impressions on the experimental health system is that it seems appropriate but at the same time i can see this leading into camping problems because now you can take down 3 people in a row with one AK-47 clip.  It is satisfying when it happens but the problem for the other team is that if it is an ojbective based game that it is hard to recover from such a loss and with the respawning being pretty bad in general makes this problem more pronounced.  Might want to consider an instant respawn system so people can get back to the action quicker than normal.  I don’t think this should be a permanent change in general but should have it’s own playlist for people that prefer this health system.

Another way i could see changing the damage system in general is to change how weapons deal damage at certain ranges.  For example it takes less bullets to kill at short range due to speed of impact.  While at longer range they still take a full amount of bullets to kill with the older system.  This would bring more player strategy instead of just camping out so out of the way location sniping people with the AK-47 because it’s easier to kill that way now with this new health system.

To me and my family who play it, love it when people test new things. plus with the live update, they can do it faster than downloading a patch for it.

~This update is nice and i love it. it makes things easier to do. and it still has it’s originality in it. i think it’s an improvement cause it’s easier to kill people and it makes you think quicker than just standing in one space and it prevents people with shotguns getting too close to you.
~I usually don’t play plunder...but the plunder only playlist is pretty sweet. with the health lowered, it pushes the team to use team work instead of just one person getting the treasure and walk from one side to the other without dying. (Which I have seen plenty of times)

And there’s always those people who think i’m wrong and might say “you’re wrong, the health is horrible...” just play the game or wait til monday or something. it’s just for the weekend. I like the health 65% and if you have the half-health badge, this is your chance to show how really good you are. especially with 32% health. i don’t know how it will lose the originality in it. what game you know, that you can shot while on a wall? Naughty Dog is listening to us and trying their best to change some stuff to our likings. It’s hard to do that when there’s a whole lot of Uncharted 2 players with different ideas about the game. so to Naughty Dog, nice call on the new update.

My initial impression of the experimental health system is that it does seem fine for the most part.  The only problem I feel is that the respawn system is now too slow because people are dying too fast and during objective based games like plunder it seems to be a guaranteed point for the other team because the other team cannot respawn fast enough to recover and try to make a defense.

I still feel it should have it’s own unique playlist, perhaps even make ranked matches with this experimental health.

My own solution would be to implement a different type of damage system.  For instance at point blank range it will take 3 bullets to kill someone with the AK-47 and it will take 4 to kill them at medium range and 6 bullets at long range.  This would make weapon choices more strategic and people won’t be sniping with the AK-47 because health is alot lower.  I feel implementing this type of weapon system would make most gripes go away in the long term.

I like the concept, but as a previous poster echoed, it does make the game feel a little bit more like the other multi-player FPS options out there, like MW2.

I think that having it as a separate but fully fleshed out playlist would be great. It would offer that experience to people who want a more tactical set of games, with a higher focus on cover, map awareness, and communication.

I think the traditional health setting was fine, and it helped to carry over the action-movie in a game aesthetic, that was fleshed out in the single-player experience. You were able to participate more actively in a firefight, and even take fire from behind, or above, and still come out on top, whereas the lower health promotes being the one in that situation consistently.

Another thing that I, and the guys that I play with, noticed, was that the focus for a few booster set-ups was lessened, with the lower health. The traditional set-up lent itself more towards experimentation, and certain boosters just lost a lot of their potential, with the lowered health.

I like the Plunder playlist, that was a good addition.

The reduced health, though, isn’t a good addition in my opinion. I thought it was too easy to kill the other team, and I was able to take down multiple enemies very quickly. I don’t think that’s good, this game encourages teamwork. Double-teaming a guy used to be a good strategy, but it also left your team exposed without extra help. Now it’s more of an “every man for himself” feel, because if you group together, the other team can just gun you down quick.

I’m liking the experimentation though. Keep on keeping up with the fans!

I really love the new health level, the times I’d unload an entire AK clip into someone without getting a kill are gone now.
There is one complaint though, the FAL is now too powerful. It takes less that 2 bursts to kill someone with it now while it used to take 4, I think considering how accurate it is 3 would be the sweet spot.
Overall though it is definitely an improvement and I’ve been doing a bit better in deathmatch since the update.

The health was fine as it was.  The only people that had a problem with it have already left to play MW2 and any other of the millions of FPS that play the same.  The majority of the loyal fans that play this game like it the way it is.  The people complaining about it taking too many shots were just the loud and vocal minority and they have already moved on to games like MW2.  I never thought ND would actually listen and have a knee jerk reaction to a few people posting on the forums about this.

Changing the health is not going to get back those players that like less health/MW2 style play because they’re playing MW2.  Changing the health is just going to lose the loyal fans you had.  You’re basically kicking your loyal fans in the face that have been playing the game and like it the way it is.  Don’t make this game like every other shooter, you will lose the uniqueness and then it just becomes another shooter.

Can’t believe everyone is saying the FAL is effective now.  There was no problem with it before, 3 burst was not that much and unless your aim was terrible you could kill someone very quickly.  Now everybody is just going to spray and pray and get lucky with their shots.

Its no fun to get shot in the back and not be able to turn around or find cover.  Its now just a hide and seek, I see you first so I get the kill type of gameplay and that takes no skill.

I don´t like it. The game is shorter and you die very fast. Naughty Dog, you should increase life, so the game is more intense and the stealth will be more important. That´s my opinion.

say what reduced health? you’ve got to be kidding!!!  how about weapon accuracy! ammo pickups! the delay that occurs many of times, when the opposite player should’ve had the kill!! press the required button to pick up ammo and melee!! is a pain in the ass!! when it comes to the character response!!  can you please fix that!! or when throwing a grenade and able to cook em would be nice!! lol

other than that love the game and have enjoyed every min of it!! keep trying!! i’m impressed!!

Lowered health is game breaking.  I just got done playing two plunder matches and they were not fun at all with the lowered health.  What good is the shotgun now that the AK-47 can take you out with two hits?!?  I, sadly, will NOT be playing this weekend and if lowered health ever comes back I will probably boycott naughty dog altogether for breaking their own games.

KEEP THE HEALTH 65%, its so much better, crushing playlists should get all modes.. if you go that route, but i believe 65% hp is alot better. Takes more skill than to fire at a person for 20hrs

I understand that you guys are trying something new with the lowered health, but after 4 short games of play I feel the game is completely changed. All of the power weapons are now pointless to use since you can kill people with 3 shots from a pistol. If I wanted to play a game that it takes two shots to kill someone I would go play CoD. Put the health back the way it was so we can enjoy something that is different.

Don’t keep the low health. The thing that makes the multiplayer stand out compared to other games is the chance to come back if your skilled enough from a few shots to the back. Realism is not worth the price of fun, keep that in mind.

I don’t think that lowered health is a bad idea but I think you lowered it too much. In the short time that it’s been lowered I see the game starting to become a camping fest like modern warfare because people are to scared to come out in the open.If it’s at 65 percent now I think it should be around 85 to give it a nice balance.

I have some tips for naughty dog and that is to add three more stages is one. add more weapons like a flame thower or the bow n arrow. add custimize charecters so u can create a creater. and a add on 4 the weopons and map packs. It should be free of charge.

Death Match should be at least 100 kills per game because the game ends to quick with 50 kills and i now need at least 10 kills to get my $50,000 MrPips…

FIX THE FORT BUG!!! Good lord it is basically a waste of 20 minutes of my life whenever The Fort pops up as an option now. I played a match against a team of people who all knew about it and just sat there shooting through walls for 20 minutes.

Naughty Dog! Please add a SP cinematic playlist. Soundtrack in the match to ramp up tension, little and fading HUD, finisher animations for hand to hand when an enemy is below 50% health plus the SP animation for run punch to replace the current animation, no boosters, and all game modes and variations. Please make a playlist closer to the SP action movie experiance!! At least get music in there dynamically and improve hand to hand animations with run punch and finisher animations using the same mechanic as ledge pull. It would be the best!!

ND - your game is fantastic and you should be rightly proud of your achievments, and thats from a (former) first person shooter purist.

The change in health and speedy respawn has only detracted from the game though. It’s not only about most kills as far as I’m concerned but your ratio (the truest sense of achievment). I enjoy escaping from near death to fight back as much as the straight kill scores and you can’t do this on lowered health. The skill of the game dimishes into a who sees who first scenario. The alternative is to hide and pop up now and then which again detracts from the game. The games last very little time as well under this format. The game is perfect in its original state.

As for quitters, frankly I don’t care who quits, play and enjoy the game enough and you’ll still kill as many as be killed. Not good for your ratio but still satisfying in the face of adversity.
