Introducing “The Lab” Playlist and Double Cash Weekend

Next weekend is (May 28 to June 1) Memorial Day Weekend in the US and it’s also going to be a big weekend for UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer with the introduction of “The Lab” Playlist and Double Cash Weekend.

Next weekend – May 28 to June 1 – we’re introducing a new playlist that will mix things up and maybe, possibly lead to updates or additions to the existing playlists in competitive Matchmaking. We’re calling this playlist “The Lab.”

We’ll be running “The Lab” Playlist roughly every other weekend for the foreseeable future.

During each weekend “The Lab” is active, we’ll be running a playlist featuring one or more custom-tuned gametype variations from the tons of variables we can tweak in our multiplayer gameplay settings.

We’ll also be hosting a new thread for every event on our Naughty Dog community forums to get your feedback and thoughts on each one of our “The Lab” events.

Here’s the current schedule and descriptions for the first three events in our “The Lab” Playlist series:

May 28 – June 1
2 vs. 2 Team Deathmatch
Grab a partner for this small- to medium-size map mow-down. You’ve got 15 minutes to rack up 25 kills, or more than the other team, to prove your small-team superiority. I’m going to recommend now that you’re going to want pick a reliable teammate you want to play with over the weekend…

June 11 – 14
Shotguns Only
We’re serving up short-range mayhem as all players and maps spawn with Moss-12 and Pistole only. Oh, and NO grenades.

June 25 – 28
Sniper Extermination
Two teams. Dragon Sniper rifles. One life per round. Best of 5 rounds takes the match win. Absolutely tense, totally tactical.

Keep track of future updates on “The Lab” including updated schedules through “The Lab” topic in our community forums or through “The Lab” blog keyword tag.

Of course, to commemorate the launch of “The Lab” Playlist program will be a Double Cash Weekend!

Starts: Friday, May 28, 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?)
Ends: Tuesday, June 1, 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?)

As with our previous Double Cash Weekend, the per match cash limit has also been raised to $150,000 maximum per match.

i’m trying to make sense of this....so those of us who only play co-op don’t benefit from the double money weekend then. that would suck. multi-player is decent but it needs way more imo....which is why i live and die for co-op.

Ok I am seriously liking this. All the new The Lab playlists sound wicked fun to play. Cant wait to try them out and I hope some of them will be a perment playlist if they are fun.

Cool ideas...nice to have some variations to play....

Who cares about double cash though.....nothing to spend it on anyways....

We need some new store items to blow our cash on.....New boosters, skins, weapons, something.....

I haven’t even considered buying anything in quite awhile.....Kinda a shame since so much is made of medals, cash, etc....

Absolutely fantastic ideas, I cant wait to try them out, I am currently playing Red Dead Redemption but every week there is one of these I will be platying UC2 all week, I still play UC2 regularly but lately I’ve been playing more RDR since it just came out.

2 things, 1) recess, turn off ur ps3, take like an hour off trying to go on psn 2) i think this new lab thing would be cool, if it wasnt starting on a double xp weekend, thats gonna annoy me trying to get as much $ as possible, and having to do 2on2 deathmatches

Sometimes, unfortunately, they might come across a complete idiot noob who does not know jack about UC2. “The Lab” playlist is going to be awesome and im looking forward to woop my fellow clan members a**es! yea, me too! this is like my 3rd or 4th post here. oh yea my favorite will probably be shotguns only because you can put on glass jaw and no one will bother punching you and i like to kill people up close

You should have a free for all lab one weekend as a test. Are the Highrise and the Museum going to be included in the 2 vs 2 lab weekend, because the maps are huge and it would take forever to find someone

When I clicked on this blog I was almost 100% sure The Lab would be used to experiment with weapon damage again and other issues (silent skins, overpowered boosters, punching)… now I’m a little dissapointed=(

We’ll be able to play with a number of variables to a certain extent—meaning there are some things that are set-up to be either systemwide or they can’t be altered without a patch. We’ll be revealing more about what we can tweak in the future.

I like the 2 vs 2 game mode I think it’s pretty interesting a sort of coop against another valued team. I think I’m going to have some difficulties with the only-rifle mode I’m not very good at aiming lol. I think this is a great idea anyway!

This seems to be an experiment… well alright.

But 2 vs 2 deathmatch will be boring imo.

Sniper only with the one-shot-kill sniper. Could be fun for exactly one game and then?!

Shotguns only? Total bull****, sorry. Situational awareness will be all over the place and if you don’t have evasion you will hate this mode.

But at least you guys are trying to keep this MP fresh (and alive) which is a good thing.

Thats cool you should make a lab for glitchers which destroy games by glitching. A lab with all the glitches unpatched. I dont glitvh but glitchers should be see how it is to play ageinst other glitchers.

Nice to see you guys still working on new things for the Multiplayer part of UNCHARTED 2

I only have 1 question though, are you still having some DLC lined up for us?

Unfortunately I won’t have the chance to play in the first playlist change, which is 2 vs 2 Team Deathmatch (Due to my exams :()

I really hope you do another double cash weekend for us, players who can’t attend the first weekend.

I especially like the idea of shotgun matches - It’ll be like a much more close quarter combat style of RPG matches.

I’m not sure how I’ll like 2 vs. 2, since its very possible to have two experienced players outweigh two newer players, but I’m sure you can just start a match with your friends if the match is that small.

For the sniper match… I’m alright with elimination matches… but the power of the sniper rifle may be a little ridiculous with every player using them. It’s a style of play I’ll have to try to get to know.

Is it possible to have regular Deathmatch ? like… let’s say for 6-8 people? Everybody could work on his/her own account for the time being. I’d love to see regular deathmatch on U2 some day.

freakin badass! finally new playlist! i havent played them yet but i like them, give them to us even though some might not like it but for the ones who do they can choose to play it or not. so by being able to put these 3 types of matches under 1 playlist would be great so for the people who want to play them can choose to at any time. this is exactly what we need new game types and playlist to spice up the game more! keep and give us all 3 types of matches, we want them! MORE DLC, MORE MAPS AND MORE SKINS! KRATOS, NARIKO, SACKBOY EVEN THE BLUE GUYS FROM UC2!

Davidson is absolutely right! I have $18,000,000 in my “wallet” and cant spend a thing until I can get a new booster (in which I only have 1 more to get).
Maybe you guys can put stuff like guns in the store! Or super-expensive boosters, maybe even some skins that you dont need real $ for!

i haven’t played in a bit thanks to Red Dead, but I will definitely play when i hear about an actual good lab game setup. 2V2 is boring for me, the more players the better. All shotguns? Really? just take away the aim button why dont ya because thats just gonna be pure blindfire since da game does it for you. All snipers would be cool if it still took 2 shots in da body for a kill, but not as it is currently. But when you put up a 1.04 style setup in dis playmode, COUNT ME IN! lol

2 vs. 2 Team Deathmatch, LMAO! You guys need to come up with somwthing better than that, like get real 2 vs 2 is boring, Me and my friends would do custom games like that and we would get bored after eight minutes of playing that. Reason why! MAPS ARE TOOOOOOOO DAMMMMM BIGGGGGGGGGGGG!

HELLO ARNE,

Those who may have a bad connection only play coop and is now the modus unfair that the 2vs2 deathmatch will be playable only for 4 days!

I said one is forced to play coop but only if it would be a deathmatch with fewer players would be perfect for players with an internet connection is not good! (Also making slow 5vs5 no fun anymore, you need something new

Will it really never be a 2vs2 deathmatch? This is sad .......

Hm, sounds ok but none of them sound like things I want to play over the currently selectable playlists. Shotguns are among my least favorite weapons and I hate people who sit up somewhere high with the sniper rifle all the damn time.
I’d like it possible to have battles with no skeletons (and no PlayStation Heroes pack characters too come to think of it). Getting a bit fed up with people choosing them and being silent all the time. The game is a lot more fun with characters saying stuff and especially when screaming when they know they’re about to die. I find the skeletons really dull to play as and against. And again about the PS Heroes/Villains I never choose them and feel they were a bit of a waste purely because of the lack of voices. Part of the charm of Uncharted is the great voice acting and characterization and I love the comments made by the speaking characters even in multiplayer modes.

I saw this post, and thought “Oh wow they just took my idea I was about to post WTH”, but It kinda wasn’t. What I was thinking is, is it possible to set up custom matches where the host can tweak all the lighting and fog like in cinema mode? Taht’d be awesome if it’s possible. (Plus, you just gotta add a zombie survival mode..from the first one. You can’t go wrong! (Not sure if you could tweak enemy AI within a update or not, please reply so I know thankss, also glad to see your implementing idea’s from the community!
