As the launch of the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta draws near, we look back on our E3 single-player campaign reveals.

We only just wrapped the very hectic, very awesome E3 Expo just a couple of weeks ago – and we’ve been working tirelessly on putting the finishing touches for what I can only believe to be the mouth-frothingly anticipated Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta. We’ll have a full, in-depth look at everything and anything you want to know about the Beta within the next few days, so you can get the scoop before it launches.

Speaking of which, the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta will be available for all owners of specially marked copies of Infamous 2 and for current PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, June 28. We’ll be sure to give you a not-so-subtle reminder when it’s ready to be downloaded.

Enough about the Beta! I’m here because we’ve been so busy, we didn’t get a chance to give you a quick look at all our single-player reveals from the week of E3.

We had two massive reveals to kick off the week. Putting together an E3 trailer is one of the most hectic, but also one of the most rewarding tasks we take on in the weeks before the show. This time around we not only had to put together an awesome, cinematic trailer, but we had to also put it out in 3D for the SCEA Press Conference! If you happened to have missed viewing the Uncharted 3 E3 2011 Trailer – and clearly, you did miss it, as the video hasn’t hit 1 million views yet – I’ve embedded trailer below for easy viewing.

As part of the opening of the SCEA Press Conference, Evan and Christophe got on stage to introduce the on-stage demo of The Cruise Ship. Christophe also mentioned how we’re partnering with Subway to give away the entire Uncharted 3 Multiplayer experience in October, prior to launch. More on that as October gets closer. In the meantime, check out this pristine, direct feed video of the Cruise Ship demo.

Later on during the week, the PlayStation.Blog grabbed me to do a quick, totally live interview about the Cruise Ship demo, multiplayer and a question submitted through Twitter. The PlayStation.Blog was good enough to repost the video last week.

Obviously haven’t and won’t watching anything Uncharted 3 single player related and try as much as possible to stay away from experience spoilers on the net (which is hard, since people already writing about them in headlines).
Anyone knows this sequel to the best game made so far will be breathtaking - so no need to get any information or videos about the experience.

But can’t wait to play the MP beta next week. Woot!
Finally another game than Uncharted 2 which I can play (for at least some days) in mp since 2 years.

We’re trying extremely hard to avoid showing story spoilers in all our single-player releases. There’s be some character spoilers, maybe location spoilers, but very, very little, if anything, about the plot. We specifically cut our E3 trailer and our E3 demos around spoilers.

the bits of gameplay that were shown has blown me away. great game physics in the motion of the ship, it brings more interesting dynamics. Looking forward to the beta, and hoping to try the youtube linking feature. Just keep doing what you do best, making great games

We haven’t been able to reschedule that into our testing and deployment pipeline - there’s been some heavy duty work that’s pulled away the resources we had allocated for that. I’ve wanted to have a bit more information on what we could have planned before discussing it all. Our Uncharted 2 players have not been forgotten!

I didn’t want to come across as a jerk in my post but the silence from you guys on this matter has been baffling and I think the whole community would agree with me that it is very frustrating. We are just very passionate about Uncharted, as I think you guys at ND are quite aware. Thanks!

So that is that guy’s PSN name right? Make sure when you do release stuff he isn’t allowed to have it. Like the beta, make sure he is not in it because quite frankly people like him ruin gaming for the rest of us. Not only that, he clearly doesn’t deserve beta access if he thinks you guys make garbage.

Thanks for the post launch support for Uncharted 2, I look forward to that same level of support for Uncharted 3 . Keep up the good work!

Or either you’re a COD developer that is spiteful because you really wanna be sharper than ND with your craft or you’re just as dumb as you sound, pick one.......

Truly excited for UC3 this coming November and the much anticipated multiplayer beta this coming tuesday. Thought you guys did an excellent presentation at E3 in such fast paced circumstances. The trailers look very high polished and the 3D aspect will create a very unique theatrical experience. This is one of those games that make me excited to be a hardcore gamer living in my moms basement.... I mean… JK

Hey Arne, I have a REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION!

When I will start playing multiplayer beta / the real multiplayer, will my level be the same as in Uncharted 2?? Please, there are so many people who have put hours and hours to get levels 60 and over.

actually I have a related question to that. Will the levels and experience gained from the beta carry over to the full game? Truthfully, I doubt if you will transfer over levels from U2. I think that would be a bit of a crutch, and almost a cheat, since U3 has so much more multiplayer.

You won’t be able to transfer your level over from Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 3—they’re completely different games and progression systems and unrelated. That wouldn’t be possible (or fair).

There will be a few things that you could carry over from the MP Beta to the retail version of MP, but not your accumulated level and XP/cash. We’ll have more details on this today.

This reminds me…

Any chance we will be able to use Uncharted 2 DLC character skins in U3? I’d buy the PS Heroes pack, but I’m pretty much done with U2, so I don’t feel like I’d get a lot of use out of it. But if I could use them in U3, it’d be a whole different story.

Any CLEAR, DEFINITIVE news on whether the TEMPORARY PS PLUS users, as a result of the PSN DOWN debacle, will have the early access to the Beta on June 28th...or is it ONLY for PS PLUS users with a PAID subscription?

Can we get a Mod to confirm this, please oh please...with proverbial sugar & a cherry on top?

except the fact that it expires a few days after. Which in my mind will force the people that downloaded the Plus version will have to redownload it after it expires. I may be wrong but Playstation was very adimant on downloading content with Plus and how you cannot use said data after it expires. So technically I do not think everyone will get full access if you are bumming off the free plus.

If you accessed the free month at the right time you’ll have no problem. If you activated it the day Sony released the Welcome Back package you MIGHT be out of luck. But I planned mine to be covered until it was open to everyone.

Was wondering will we get to keep our betas or will they expire after the date,will they no longer work or can we keep on playing it? can’t wait for this November seems so far away but will be worth it, i have pre-ordered it on Amazon and i will also buy the special edition and the collectors edition as i can’t make my mind up which one i want so ill just be greedy and buy all of them lol.

and another thing where is out hammers only and 3x cash event that we never had back in April seems like you haven’t bothered to remember, i know you have been busy but it can’t take that much effort to put it in place a few clicks on your system and hey presto? lol

I see a lot of glitchy/jumpy motions in the gameplay demo, such as when his hands touch the walls for support or when he enters the rotating door from the pool deck to the ballroom. Are you guys going to put more polish on that? It seems to bother me because UC2 had almost no jumpy mo-cap actions, they flowed together very well. Same thing with water splashes when Drake is swimming or emerging and ascending from water, they seem to be missing and making the experience less real.

Obviously, Uncharted 3 is still in development. We’ve got several more months of polish and whatnot before we are done. If you look at the GDC cutscene footage and the same footage in the E3 trailer - you’ll see an example of how our work has progressed over time.

I understand that the new beta has been demanding all of naughty dog’s resources, but the programming for the hammer lab should have already been setup over two months ago when it was first announced before PSN went down. I won’t pretend to be a game developer to comment anymore on the ease of making this happen but I do have to say this has been very frustrating to promise us 3x cash and the hammer lab and not deliver on it or even give us a real update on when it is going to happen.

I hope you include a way to kick players that are being jerks in the multiplayer. The worst thing about uncharted 2 is playing a co-op match with some jerk that thinks its a death match, or wants to hog kills by killing you.

how long will this one last until ND changes the gameplay mechanics? Feb. 11th? Do us all a favor and leave the game alone except for programming issues. Already seems as camper and kid friendly as COD n uncharted 2 post 1.05. Hope we get some reigonal matchmaking so I don’t have to sit in cover waiting for a bullet to hit from 30 seconds ago.

Hey Arne i just noticed in the multiplayer trailer a gun fight on the cruise ship why is that map not in the beta? it was a blink and you’ll miss it scene but i saw the water gushing in from the sides come on that has to be the cruise ship!

Classic game man! Cant wait to hop on the beta and run a muck… I too have some frustrations about the UC2 multi, however, I can only appreciate the level of work that these guys put in on their games,amazing. Just look @ the COD franchise, they could care less what any of their players think, just look at the new per month charge you have to pay for special access, wow. Honestly, the creativity for the COD franchise is at a staggering 1 on a 1_ 10 scale, and the 1 is for zombie mode, those guys really need to sit in at ND and learn how its done or Battlefield 3 is gonna wipe them off the map! P.S, I’m already paid in full for my special edition copy of UC3 all I have to do is show up at Gamestop with my proof of purchase and it’s on baby!!!!!

Uncharted 2 made me fall in love with the series. So I bought the first game and realized this was going to be one heck of an adventure. I was tired of the Indiana Jones movies, I needed to experience the adventure myself and then I found uncharted. The series has grown so awe inspiring to me and made me feel proud to be a playstation owner and be able to enjoy an exclusive game like uncharted. I wish you guys the best of luck with uncharted 3 beta and the final game. I can’t wait to delve into the third installment.

I’m in a bad situation where my previous PS3 died of YLOD ¬¬ I don’t have enough money to fix it so I’ve lost some of my game save data for story mode on Uncharted and Uncharted 2. The only thing I really have is MP data. So if there is any treats for people who brought the previous games for Uncharted 3 I’ll be upset :(

First of all I am SORRY, I have neglected you my dear, dear Nathan Drake, but I promise it will not happen again.

I have been working on improving my skills playing Uncharted 2 Multiplayer for last couple of week, I also started to work on playing Uncharted 2 on Crushing, finished the game 3 times already but crashing is last level I have not touched yet.

I am very excited for MP starting tomorrow. Keep up good work guys, and can’t wait to see what you cooked up at Santa Monica over last 2 years.
