Earlier today the maximum level you can attain in UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer was increased to level 80 (XXX) for all players. While this was a planned increase in the level cap, it wasn’t our plan to increase it today and without warning – we can now share the full scoop on what the level cap increase means after the jump.

Along with launching “The Lab” for the weekend this morning, many of you noticed that the level cap has been increased beyond 60 (X). This now makes the maximum level attainable currently in UNCHARTED 2 is now 80 and is designated by an in-game badge which uses the roman numerals XXX. You can check out the full set of level badges on our Flickr photostream.

Each level beyond 60 requires accumulating $15,000,000 in cash to level up and that stays consistent throughout 61 to 80. That means you will need to accumulate a total of $362,965,500 to hit level 80.

If you had already hit level 60 (and hopefully kept playing) – there is some good news for you. With the level cap raise, you’ll automatically be brought up to the level that is appropriate to the total cash you’ve accumulated up to that point. That means you could come back to your profile to a higher level in recognition of all the hard work you’ve been putting in playing UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer, even though you had already hit level 60.

Increasing the maximum level has let us create a couple rewards to the players who have continued to play multiplayer. Hitting level 70 (XX) and level 80 (XXX) will unlock one new villain skin at each of those levels for purchase within the in-game store – Blaine is available at level 70 (XX) and Dutch is available at level 80 (XXX). We’ve also put up screenshots of both skins on our Flickr photostream. You may recognize both characters are mercenary characters from UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune, which we’ve updated to UNCHARTED 2 models and graphical standards specifically for the level cap increase. Blaine and Dutch are completely exclusive rewards to players who gain levels 70 and 80 respectively.

In addition, later today we’ll be increasing the per-match cash cap to $75,000 to make reaching these highest levels just a bit more within reach. We’ve also got plenty of Double Cash weekends planned for the future.

On a side note… as far as rising the level cap without warning – we had originally scheduled to make this change next week and planned to give everyone an ample heads-up about the level cap increase. Unfortunately, due to some miscommunication, that was not the case and the update went out without any warning.

I’m not thrilled that I wasn’t able to communicate this change to our community ahead of time – I know that being surprised by something significant like this doesn’t feel good and can really feel unfair. The bottom line is that you should know as much as you can – and that we’re able to provide – about any game changes or updates before they happen as soon as possible. I’ll be doing all I can to make sure we don’t surprise you again.

I agree with lechugaman66, the money you make should be raised more than $75.000. It takes forever to level up, I’m at level 56 and I was glad that I was getting close to level 60 but now they raised it to 80. Its going to be impossible to get there, I can’t be playing UC2 all day long. You can if you don’t have a life

dude a friend told me there will be new skins , maps , n boosters soon .. he also told me there were going to be NEW BOOSTERS .... XD I Hope ND Puts Crash in uncharted tho ...Just Imagine With Uncharted Graphics O_o

but the thing is , as someone here mentioned it you have to play about 5000 games & get the full cap to get to level 80
& that is a LOT of time..
naughty dog please do note that we have a life too
so increased the cap to 100,000 k & double cash cap to 300,000

I love what Naughty Dog just did...but they did it like 3 weeks late...AFTER i had *****ed myself into being banned on the forums...also people the game style is different. you spawn closer to people so...more people to easily kill

why do we need more boosters. I get a full amount of money already with come get some and glass jaw and yes more skins would be awesome. Maybe they could make a really skinny drake and you should really take off the platzor because I feel ripped off because anyone with the pack can use him and he looks too similar to the skelzor

yeah gloomcool has just been playing for a long time and plays a lot everyday. I think it would have been more fun if everyone who reached 60 already had to start there and level up. Because now everyone is much larger who already reached 60

My biggest and only problem with Uncharted 2 is PLUNDER. As a pure plunderest, it is extremely annoying watching guys farm for kills as they pass the idol and never ever pick it up. The whole object of the game is to score the idol so could you reward the players that score the idol more than you would for those that dont. Say 10k for each score with a bonus if you score the idol multiple times and 7500 for an assist? Sort of like Hockey I guess. this is just one idea to deter those that just go for the kills. I guess you will never totally stop it but higher money for idol scores and less for kills would be a big help since this plunder is more like football or hockey with guns. LOL

If he feels like BoH is something comparable to cheating, let him play without it. As I know him from a trophy forum I can say he doesn’t use ANY booster, neither positive like Situational Awareness nor negative.

@Topic: Though I like the idea of having a wider range concerning the levels, it’s a shame that this cap increase comes without a real reward (come on, two crappy skins for such an incredible work, I mean $362,965,500 for XXX is so much, I played over 50h and only got around $3,000,000)

I like to see new boosters!

you guys realize you must have absolutely no life to get to level 80? even the people who are already level 60 will have a hard time reaching it! i am a level 57 and still so far away from 60 so level 80 is impossible to reach for me before uncharted 3 comes out even if that takes another 2 years.

@sep_123 u talk about me taking cheap stabbs what about u? another thing is we have the best ireless router but the phone line is in another bedroom way away from my ps3 and we cant put one in because we rent our house. another thing I dont know what its like to buy a car oh and u dont have to play online thats just an extra thing that they put on for people if you complain about it sooo much then why do you play it? even if there are ur friend online that play it doesn’t that show that they enjoy it?
finally about the get a life thing, I haven’t played a game for a week now because my life gets in the way, schooling and everything and in the long run ur just as bad as me because u can be bothered to check ND website to see what reply I send. Now doesn’t that say something??? I don’t even know why we’ve taken it this far jeeeze it’s only a game! Not a war between the flipping nazis!

we’ve a great ideas, and on the furom you posted a thread to listen to our ideas, So please reply on this comment :

1- On each 60+ Levels we can spawn with weapons we want ( FAL, Sniper, M4, AK, Desert, ) NO SHOTGUNS and NO EXPLOSIONS ..

2- New Playlist Name it any name , but should have a Deathmatch, Pluner, Elimination, Turf War, King of The Hill and Chain Reaction IN ONE GAME, and The Cap Limit is 300,000k ...

3- New Boosters for Level 60+ ( More Than 7 Boosters ) ,, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE This is Important To Make More Players Play this game for reaching 80, because none want to reach level 80 for 2 skins..

Reply Please, Tell me if it’s good idea’s or not ,, and if you will not put it, Tell me ... i just want a reply from you ..

I Love this game too much, i will NOT leave it ...

Seriously.....You guys that are complaining need to stop whining…

All ND has done here is give people an incentive to keep playing and also likely trying to encourage higher levels to use BOH if they are interested in leveling up.

It’s like some of you feel like you’ll be a complete failure if you don’t reach level 80 or something…

Play the game....have some fun. If your only goal is to level up, then turn on BOH and deal with it. Personally, I’d rather win games and have positive K/D ratios than worry about what level I’m at....but that’s just me.

I would like to see more rewards and store items to spend our hard-earned cash on though. Lots of players are devoting alot of time to this game and there needs to be more incentives/rewards for those that accumulate 25, 50, 100 million, etc...Make some golden skeletons, exclusive weapons, a champions map....or something else people could really aspire to get.

Heck...some people are playing the game so much and commenting so much on blogs/forums, they might as well be ND employees.....

I for one appreciate attempts to keep the game fresh and to keep people playing.

to keep people playing???? seriously thats what u think? are u a noob in this game? since 1.06 update people starts to leave this game.... about 20k people left from 80k to 60k… then 1.07 come out and it turns 50k.. then 1.08 comes out and it turns 40k daily players

what sucks in this game and needed to be improved:

-levels (60 should be max)
-boosters (4 more boosters for lv60 please)
-lag (yup lags this is the laggiest game ive ever played)
-daily players (ND’s prob and our prob since we can’t find anyone)
-freezing problems (my ps3 sometimes freeze when matchmaking)
-1.08 (this update is a real prob, 1.05 would fix it all :D)

the problem is ive spent past few months working to lv60 using boh and not cheating and now im 2mill short of lv60 they do this. 15mill per lv after lv60 its 6times the amount to reach lv80 as it is to get lv60 its fooking retarded. was really looking forward to not use glass jaw and come get some and get faggot noobs just hiding to mellee you 1 time then trash talk how they killed you lmfao. every now and again i will have a couple of dm with evasion and fleet foot to hold my k/d ratio in a positive but with this i lose out on 75k max and get say 20k. evasion/fleet foot would have been a permanent thing but now i gota put up with fooking faggot ass noobs with gayuational awarness for the next 300million........nd have just driven the last nail in the coffin and are in the process of filling in the grave where the fun now rests. every thing we say they do the complete opposite. not 1 person is happy with this. who ever came up with this fukwit idea needs to sit on a cactus and quit. if the levels where 5mill apart fair enough thats obtainable in months but this will take fuking years. get the point

I can’t wait to get my PS3 back, hopefully today; and start playing the MP again. My PS3’s blu-ray drive has been broken for almost two months now and I am dying to play the Uncharted 2 MP, the last time I had played I had become a level 60 so it will be nice to see that I can leveling up again because it is having something to work towards that keeps me playing. Amazing job Naughty Dog.

the dagger loading screen when you first start up the game wont stop loading, i have been sitting here looking at it for over 10 minutes and nothing is happening. why didnt this game just have a hardrive install option that way i wouldnt have to put up with this! im not angry at naughty dog or anything but i would like to know whats happening.

20 new ranks just 1 new skin at rank 70 and another 1 at rank 80 guys put some hero skins some new boosters and what about some new taunts between rank 60 and 80. its was a great idea but needed a bit more thought -_-

i bought dis game loved to play it offline and den started playin it online ......my reaction was that how the hell can some1 cre8 my dream game...den u lowered the level......i liked it..played it day & nite....den i didnt bought a game for 3 more months den i loved the game wanted to get the dlc,s but culdnt get it for a reason :-( en after 1 month u introced the siege i was finally ablr to get the dlc...den i came on a holiday in canada & america( i live in india ) .....was badly missing my uc2 and then i missed all the labs and all....i used to read almost evry comment wen i had a lkaptop i didnt did facebook and all but read tried 2 read evrycomment then..just 2 tell i am craZY about football (soccer)then u introduced new t-shirts for our uc2 characters… loved it ,,but didnt played it yet....will come back on 10th july in india then maybe i will get a chance to play in these t-shirts....... then u really made bad move///// increasing the lv cap. :( den i made a decison that i wont play uc2 anymore but still i know that i will play dis game once in a week 2 keep in touch wid my dream..... :( ... but really lookin forward to uc2 and plz nd guys tell us the release date of uc3.......... replys r appreciated..

Waste of time for people who have played hard to reach level 60.

Seriously, N.D you want every player here to waste their time by leveling up to new maximum level? bet it will take more than a year to reach to lvl 80.

And, guess what? You guys will be working on Uncharted 3?

Big disappointment.

Oh by the way I have a better idea for those who have reached lvl 60. Give them a choice to reset their level to 1 but keep their curretn xp as well (my idea is the best).

I’m really not sure what to think about this whole lvl 80. I’ve had the game since it came out, and due to a life and playing other games, I’m just now half way to 59. I know there’s alot of devoted folks out there who are 60 and beyond.And also I’m not that great of a player, like avg. But someone I work with and go to school with and play uncharted with is only lvl 61 and he’s a beast. So i mean sudden lvl ups like this with such a big price gap between them isn’t for the avg. player, more devoted gamer territory. I would like to unlock all the good stuff and be a lvl 80, but man I don;t think I got the time for it. The whole 75k limit is nice, but not by much. i’ve been playing with Come Get Some and Glass Jaw and it still don;t feel the gap as much. Which leads me to ask, Whats the deal with the limits any way? Why should there be a limit on how much you can get a match i think you deserve what you damn well earn. If I go 15-10 with Come Get Some and Glass Jaw on, don;t I deserve the whole 100K + I earned? And Double Cash shouldn’t have a limit, you should get what you damn well earn, and I think that would help a whole lot better with this massive lvl up than limits. At this rate I’ll be like 62 bout time Uncharted 3 comes.

( i wish u hadnt) ......den u might have thoughtn dat i hate uc2 now .....but i CANT stop playin it ,,i bought mw2 and play dat and suddenly in b/w a match i eject mw2 put in UNCHARTEd 2 and start playin dat… i hate that u increased d lv but i will give evry fuk thing i have to reach lv 80 before uc3 cms out… i love to reach to the final lv of a game.... my current lv is 52 (II) and i still need 28 lvs more to attain lv 0 (XXX) it sound so cool (XXX)… and can u plz increase BOH boosters for lv 50-60.. plzz.. and can u plz give m some inspiration so dat i keep on killing other ppl,,,

hi,
I was going to try & get level 61 but after yesterday grinding to get from 63 mil. to 65 mil
I ended up feeling that this is impossible.
That & reading here & how annoyed/fed up everyone is (inc me) is the end for me sorry ND but it’s just too much to ask. Don’t get me wrong I’m not getting rid of my copy but now I’ll be playing casually & I certainly won’t be grinding to get to level 80 was bad enough getting to level 60.

Well this sucks. I just got 60 and now it’s up to 80? Can’t you just make it so that once you earn up to the total amount of money req’d for Blaine and Dutch you get it? I don’t want to lose the 60 badge. It’s the best. More hero skins appreciated. Thanks, Arne

Two things, one, Is there any way to increase the skin and booster capacity without significantly slowing the game, is it even possible at all? And two, will you consider reducing the cash needed to level up? I find even with a few days off I can’t even scratch the surface of level 61, no one has even reached XX yet, excluding Gloomcool the ONLY XXX rank. It had taken far too long, and far too much time reaching rank X it’s upsetting to know the daunting task in front of me. Picture this..... It’s akin to climbing, what you believe, to be the tallest mountain, a mountain which few were dedicated enough to scale. You reach the summit, feeling accomplished, but you think you see something of a large silhouette in the distance. You shrug it off as nothing, only to find a few weeks later the mountain you thought was tallest was only the smaller of a set of twins. While you’re excited that there is a bigger challenge at hand, you’re upset at the same time to know, just how difficult this new climb is.

STUPID SKINS FOR 70 & 80 make it worth while how about KRADOS and the girl from Heavenly sorwd. Also produce more booster, also make it where people that use situational awareness can only use it 2 or 3 times in a match. Make some more taunts, mk the cap from 75,000 to 125,000 for level 60’s up, got also changs the 15mil to level up come on thats rediculas.We worked so hard at getting to 60 weres the rewards ????????????????? ALSO for the LAB make a free for all, the spawn are go enough, hell in LOST PLANET 2 your able to pick where you can spawn, try it I know people would love that, listen to us were the one playing your game. You guys put time into making stupid soccer skin shirt, WOW come on that was retarted, im sorry im not tring to be rude but really, why not just mak President OBAMA

la verdad es que yo pienso que esto es absurdo 360 millones para el level 80 debido ala tapa de efectivo de 75mil es algo imposible seria jugar dia y noche y todos aquí tenemos una vida como para estar todo el día frente ala tv.... yo digo que eleven la tapa a 100mil o mejor todavía cuando aumentes de nivel que aumente la tapa también ya que a mas nivel se necesita mas efectivo algo así como 5mil o 10mil por nivel seria buenísimos si es de esa manera.......................

you guys need to make uncharted 2 better because i think its great but my friends think its slow and too much camping its becoming more like mw2 but the bad parts like more campers more noob guns and the life has gotten smaller. I like it but it needs to be alittle more fast and not so much camping!!

is the last level in uncharted MP its too hard to have $362.965.500 i only have $138.500.000 and i know gloomcool he is not a glitcher
i think in the biggining of every month will be DOUBLE CASH in august and september and october…

Hey guys at ND, I realize that this is HIGHLY unlikely, but how awesome would it be to have crash bandicoot as a skin. Yeah it might look a little weird, but it would still be so cool. It doesent have to be permanant, maybe just for a weekend or something.

I have reached level 80 since 2 months it was cool but I had spent the cash still many hours, D
NaughtyDog can now do so to level 90 or 100 because it’s sometimes boring Uncharted comes out to 3;)
And today I have maybe been playing a lot of people like Uncharted 2 is still online and there were about 30,000 and above 4-5 months there were still 40-50000 therefore the number drops dramatically.
