Welcome back to “The Lab.”

“The Lab” is open Friday, June 11, at 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?) through Monday, June 14, at 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?).

This pre-E3 installment of the “The Lab” weekend is a short range fest with only the Shotgun and Pistole available on a select set of maps.
There are no grenades and no power weapons available for pickup on the map - in fact, there are no other weapons available on the map at all. On the other hand, riot shields and propane tanks are available on the maps.

The maps available during this weekend of “The Lab” are:

Temple
Village
Train Wreck
Ice Cave

As with last time, we would love to get your comments and criticism on the Shotgun and Pistole matches throughout “The Lab” weekend. Be sure to visit the Shotgun and Pistole comments thread on the Naughty Dog community forums after you’ve played a few matches to tell us what you think.

You already can buy a lot of single player characters with fakecash in the game.... useless to give u more for a singleplayer you play 3 times when u got the game new (max) and then play it once 1 or 2 years after the release as oldie..

ND from the bottom of my heart listen to this.As a hardcore fan of you guys and Sony games i would like to say that plz put the game to 1.04 update.or at least put the grenades a little more powerful and the fal.because there are worthless.everybody pretty much uses aK.Second put a play list where people cant play with their friends meaning play on their own with no friend help.Because people party up and destroy the opposing teams which ruins the experience.Lastly make more gamemodes and DLC.All i can say is pretty much try your best.because if not uncharted 2 online will slowly lose online players and eventually it will die.0 ppl online.if it aint broke dont fix it

wow aren’t u demanding..

what’s wrong with friends partying up with each other =/ i know it’s annoying when their team wipes out the other (believe me, the teams i’ve played with have been wiped countless times with those players ><), but u know it’s a way to get friends to play together and have fun. besides u can always leave the session and find another =)

and yeah i agree about more DLC and modes, i’m sure ND is doing the best they can. i mean they are working on games like Uncharted 3, so they require their focus elsewhere

I do well with the Moss-12 and Pistole in Plunders and Deathmatches. Shotguns Only has been miserable for me. I guess since the fact that everybody has a shotgun is what makes it so chaotic. I felt like I was at a shooting range and I was a clay disc. yeah, this mode definitely tests your cqb.

I appreciate the continued support of the mp, but I will not play this mode a whole lot. I was teamed up with my brother, but feel it would have been much funner with a whole party of friends.

Honestly, I really thought this was going to be a fun mode, even though I never suggested it. I was mistakenly wrong.

I play Uncharted 2 off and on, like most people, and I have to say Shotguns are very overpowered, especially with the auto-aim when you get close to someone. It’s awesome you’re testing it out and I’m glad you did. Thanks Arne, looking forward to awesome game modes in the future.

While I know we can’t moderate every comment, every time, we’d prefer you don’t use offensive terms on the boards. The last thing I want to do is have to resort to censoring a word that has no business being censored because people are using it inappropriately.

.........LOl how is that possible...? Uncharted drakes fortune is past time.. It was a nice introducing to uncharted 2 but now since this one is out they are not going to put a multiplayer in the first one.. Its a debute in multiplayer and they sharpened the single player as well so it makes uncharted 2 better in all visions.. Putting a mp in something isnt a small update.. the basics must be available.

It’s AWESOME! I can hit the max on every match using Invalid and aiming with the Pistole. It’s very fun, I hope you make it a real game mode. There’s one problem though. SA! You should block it from this mode. Actually, block it from the whole game. Thanks for reading!

If you really want people to play the Lab playlist, why not offer double cash for ONLY the Lab playlist. You would undoubtedly get a much higher rate of response. I will probably play one game in the Lab this weekend, just to say I played it. It’s going to be a Situational Awareness campfest I’m sure, so I guess I will be stuck using Evasion if I want to have any kind of positive KDR (because I refuse to use SA). Then I will go back to Plunder where I can at least have a chance at using Invalid and maxing out each match. Hopefully we will have future Lab weekends and continue to try new things. Thanks ND for the greatest video game of all time!

Ps. Two suggested improvements - somehow fix the lag in seemingly every match...and limit Situational Awareness use - maybe once in an allotted time frame, or no use while in cover/hanging. Thanks!

This playlist is pretty fun. Thanks a lot NaughtyDog for experimenting with these playlists. I cannot wait until “Sniper Extermination,” week. All these NOOBS wanting it to be a double cash weekend. Haha. I didn’t use a single double cash weekend to level up. By the way, I am a level 60. Running evasion sure helps a lot.

I’ve played quite a few matches and have enjoyed it. The only flaw I’ve seen a few times in a match is a player on my team for some reason decides to stand right in front of the door in the village map, making it impossible for everyone else to get out. Cause there is no grenades there is nothing you can do about it untill he either gets shot from the other team or decides to move. Other than that you don’t need double cash, matches go very quick. Less than 10 minutes almost every time and I get 20K-50K using badge of honour boosters every time! Keep up the good work!

its a shame… it gives me more fun to play a bad copy (port) like read dead redemption as an optimized hardware development like uncharted 2. im sorry but the gameplay of read dead redemption is so much more skill designed as uc2. i know the controls of uncharted 2 are much smoother but everybody is laming (gerenades, power weapons, situational awareness). i hope you do it better with uncharted 3. youve lost a fan </3…

wow who’s effed up idea was this train wreck? (no pun) No way I’m stepping outta standard DM for this garbage, my KDR means to much to me… Shotguns need to be removed from the game imo. Or at the LEAST only have one on each map like the Plaza. One on each end has been stupid since 10-13-09. Or reduce them to 1 pick-up only per match. Way too many skill-less shotty whores out there as it is.

Hmm… I played it, but I won’t play it again rofl. It was like resident evil 5 verses, someone just stands there with shotgun and you stand there with shotgun and you both die. But w.e some people like it. Anyway do you still read comments even though you put a link to the forumns? (a reply for once would be nice :/) Anyway If you are reading, I think you should let us see what peoples most used boosters are when you choose maps, that way you have an idea what they might use but you dont know exactly what they’re gunna use so its still fair. Plus, for uncharted 3 maybe, you should do this with cover: like in the first uncharted, instead of randomised animation when popping out of cover, you should be able to control it. like press left and l1 when at edge of cover and you pop out of cover from the side, or you can like do a more difficult manover using diaginal and L1 but you pop out of cover with more cover than usual making you a smaller target, but you have to keep pressing diaginally. :D

I used SA for a while and now I use Evasion, I think its fair it test ur skills plus I love havin a Shotgun/pistole while a dude usin SA thinks he’s gonna get me lol, but I luv this lab u don’t know where shots r comin from, and the best part is were all even when it comes 2 the guns, I hate respawnin and the first guy I see has a G.launcher, I’m feelin the lab tho, keep it up but 1 thing I hate dyin after I take cover behind a wall wassup wit that? I love this game tho, I have never played 1 game for so long, and y’all PURSUE OF PERFECTION IS APPREACIATED!!

It’s called LAG. WE NEED DEDICATED SERVERS. PERIOD. Keep the Americans with the Americans, the Mexicans with the Mexicans, the UK with the UK, the Japanese with the Japanese, etc. Because playing against ppl outside of the USA is GARBAGE. Why is it America is the only country to have such badass internet? Rediculious. Like every other MP game we NEED dedicated servers. Period…

I really like Shotguns Only. It is so fun and I level up really quickly! I use Invalid and Bandoleer or Keep Firing and I am almost always guaranteed $50,000 each match! I think this should be available in future and not just part of “The Lab” playlist.

I love the shotgun and pistole play list. Thanks for putting it in. As much as I like my friends on my team during a match I would also like them on the other team because I find going against them very fun so could you please do something about this.

Lol, i don’t know if it’s just me, but i find the shotgun death-matches to be hilarious. Sometimes, just sometimes, i hang off a cliff to watch people blow each other away. Lmfao, especially when people are shooting people from long range with the shotgun. Haha, it’s fun, but shotguns with a mixture of situational awareness blows. I’ve been seeing more and more 60s use situational awareness, and it’s kind of sad because we shouldn’t use situational awareness. I’m ashamed sometimes because i never used it. D:

I really can’t stick shotguns only. I try to level up with TWO badges of honour, and get killed every 20 seconds from Situational Awareness NOOBS! I get 5-8 kills per match, so I’m sticking with plunder. Also, every 4-5 or so matches, I keep getting connection errors, try and fix it please!

sufferd a ruptured apendix so thought id come back to this for a while before i trade it in. its incredible how many little noobs are using lag switches ive got 37 clips that im cutting in to a video and will post a link there hilarious. ive battled with glitchers all this time im a lv57 and now they have been patched we have this to deal with. im loving the shotgun only its brill you should think of keeping it permanent as im maxing out 50k all the time and games last 5mins so putting a dent in the millions i need for lv60. this lab is actually making me think about keeping the game in hope it does become permanent. spawning still sucks but what can you do........plz plz plz keep it

What do you mean by “using lag switches?” Are you saying that people are using some kind of hardware to purposefully create lag and thereby some sort of competitive advantage? Sorry for the stupid question...maybe I am interpreting too literally.

I played a few matches, and it was pretty interesting and fun. It could be added in the Deathmatch variations like “Sniper Rifle & Pistole” but I think it still needs a few adjustments. For example, we get a lot of the effect where 2 players shoot at each other’s face and die simultaneously.

Sounds like it would have been fun. But this game is in the past. As soon as there is something that changes the game formula back to the period between the Beta and 1.04, I am not going to bother. If you were going to make major health changes you should have done it for the Beta. usually a Beta is for testing things such as weapon power, character movement, different skins. It could also deal with health levels.

played with a friend last night, my gosh..european children started popping out of nowhere and we played with them.

man, they were shotgun trigger happy =/ i used to use shotguns quite a bit when i started out deathmatches. i will say this now..XD NEVER AGAIN!! so annoying to get shot in the face by a 10 year old child @__@

Sniper Extermination is like Elimination, but with sniper rifles only. you have one life per round out of a possible five rounds. the team to win three rounds is the overall winner. don’t know if grenades will be disabled, what maps will be used, or if this will be a double cash for all medals/ triple cash cap weekend. in my opinion, SA should be banned from this mode. the element of surprise is gone and your cover is blown.

you can probably google or youtube lag switches. just like modding controllers to have rapid fire. I’ve even heard of modded consoles, but I have no clue how this helps your gaming. if someone has to use a lag switch or modded controller/console to play mp games, he/she is not a gamer.....he/she is a cheater.

I love this!!! I can’t stop playing shotguns and pistoles are the best. It really shows how good players are too because everyone is in the same boat weapon wise. Please bring this back!!!!!!! I want more than one weekend!

Well I’l say a good thing and a bad thing,

The good: Its a really fun gamemode that keeps things intence. It also adds a fun twist to the game.

The Bad:
It needs to be played on all the maps. the only good maps in the map cycle is the village and the train wreck. The rest of them suck. it needs to be played on every map. i dont think any1 cares if its played on a big map like the museam or the plaza.
Anyway, if its played on ever map, it rocks!

I found it curious that they mentioned that this lab was taking place before E3. It makes me wonder if naughty dog has something in store for us at E3… Or it could be just a simply stated fact that I am thinking too much about! Who knows.

Ok first of all this is quite a long one so sorry about this but have a few things on my mind about Uncharted 2, please read it all even if you dont respond.

I love The Lab idea, its a good reason to keep ppl coming back and it keeps the game fresh. Not been doing very well this weekend but I was starting to get the hang of it.

Another good thing about it is its getting me to try different tactics I dont usually use, for this I mean shooting from the hip seems to work better with shotguns. Im no good with sniper guns but im looking forward to giving it a good go in a few weeks.

My second thing I want to say is that im a little miffed that I keep getting fined for leaving games when its not my fault.
I think iv been fined now 4 times and gone down in rank also. this just isnt fair.

It happen when i was in a Lab game with a party and the network was unsucessfully attempting to migrate host, I could still hear and speak to the other players who also had to leave and rejoin.

When I managed to get back into my friends party after a few attempts!????!! (whats that all about?) we then joined another game and all looked ok for a few mins until the game just desides to freeze on me. (it was on the snowy level and snow was still falling in game, my player himself was still breathing but unable to move, all the other players surrounding me had frozen (like in the matrix films!) I had no choice but to reboot again only to recieve a penelty for quiting when i had no choice!

This only happens on this game, My signal strenth is always 100% or around that so its not signal strenth, this has also happened when using wired connection also so its deffo not my fault but im getting the punishment by being fined and its not fair.

I spent the last hour or so earning cash only to have it taken for something I was at no fault for whatsoever, how is that right!?

I am and have been a big supporter of this game (and will continue to be by the way) by convincing a mate to rebuy this game after selling, posting on works forums about The Lab info, DLC etc, and getting ppl to check this site also. I have also bought all dlc for this game and have never attempted any cheating/glitching i hear about on here. Please dont punish the real fans of this game ND!

Anyways sorry again for the rambling but hopefully you might take some of what I said onboard, otherwise keep up the good work guys, your the best.

Hey ND. Love what you did with the Lab. Heres another idea. 2 words. Michael. Myers. If you have not heard of Michael Myers before its like a survival game mixed with elimination game type. One person is MM. He has to run around and kill everyone by punching (me and my friends play it this way) or shooting everyone. He is completly invinsible. Nobody can punch oor shoot him. Like i said, lots of people are fans of the game. If anybody wants me to show them how to play, just send me a friend invite and tell me you want me to show you how to play Michael Myers. My PSN is FudgeCake101. And thanks ND. I would love it if you made this a game type or at least made it the Lab one weekend around. PS, Uncharted 2 is the best game ever, I dont think any other game can compete!!

Hey ND. I just wanted to tell you again that im starstrucken with this game. I have never played such a good game in my life. Keep up the good work with the game!! PS, I really want you to put golden guns in the next DLC because a lot of my friends have them and i cant wait to see if you are going to bring them out again. I also think you should bring a Niko Bellac multiplayer skin from Grand Theft Auto out in the same DLC as the golden gun one. i bet ya a lot of people will be happy with that one!!!!

they modify the ethernet cable and literally flick a switch and run around invisable for a bit.il upload a video to youtube later and post u a link ul laugh. i was running around and got killed in the temple by a shot gun and theres no 1 there ive now got 42 instances of it. i knew how to glitch but never done it as what is the point and i know how to do a lag switch but again wouldnt i have to much fun geting a average of 20 kills per match the genuine way and even more when you take some1 down thats got the s**t booster situational awarness on when there looking up makes me laugh every time lol. these noobs need to get reset to lv1 when ppl show videos of these laggers just so there so called hard work was pointless
