Just a quick note – don’t forget that today is Remembrance Day in many countries around the world. If you’re in one of the countries that observes this holiday today, don’t forget to take a moment to commemorate the fallen members of the armed forces of your nation.
And now, on to info on “The Lab"…
We kick off November with a blast – literally – as our first episode of “The Lab” this month is M – 32 Hammers Only.
“The Lab” is a special, limited-time playlist for UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves multiplayer that is active every other weekend. “The Lab” playlist features one or more custom-tuned gametype variations chosen by our game designers to test potential new settings, try out alternate gametypes in a real-world setting or just mix things up for the sake of variety.
“The Lab” is open from Friday, November 12, at 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?) through Monday, November 15, at 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?).
This episode of “The Lab” features is M – 32 Hammers Only. When we say “only” we mean only – NO grenades, NO pistol. Each player will start with 8 shots in their M -32 Hammer and there will be some M – 32 Hammers scattered around the map for ammo replenishment. UPDATED: Boosters are ACTIVE for this episode of “The Lab” and you’ll have plenty of interesting choices to consider for your slot 2 Booster – Sure Foot so you don’t get stunned from a nearby explosion, Launch Man to increase your M-32 Hammer ammo or either of the Badge of Honor boosters – Half Loaded cuts down your clip size and makes you more vulnerable to groups of players or Come Get Some.
The active maps for this weekend of “The Lab” are:
- The Plaza
- The Sanctuary
- The Temple
- The Train Wreck
We’ll be opening the M – 32 Hammers Only discussion thread on the Naughty Dog community forums at about the same time “The Lab” starts this weekend. Be sure to leave your thoughts after you’ve had a chance to play a few rounds!

Sanctuary = YES.
But what do you mean by only four shots with Half Loaded? That booster affects clip size, not ammo count. o_O

Yep - four shots only. Our QA team thought we had Boosters turned off during a playtest for this Lab and we got some reports that the ammo was wrong—but it was because they had Half Loaded slotted. It was a little amusing.

So that’s not a mistake, that’s actually going to happen. Four shots total with two per clip if you have Half Loaded on.
That’s awesome, it’s about time HL got nerfed. Did you guys do that deliberately, or did the half ammo thing just happen on its own and you guys were like “no, leave it, it’ll be funny!” XD

No I was incorrect—and the question was valid. Back when we were testing it, we had halved the total ammo capacity to 4 before bringing it back to 8 shots as normal. I didn’t realize we had dialed back the max ammo capacity. Dur.
So, the end result is 2 shot clips, still max 8 ammo.
Sorry.

actually....its my fault :(
just to clarify, this lab has players starting with hammers that have 8 rounds total, 4 per clip.
There will also be hammers scattered around for extra ammo and those will have 4 rounds per pickup.
Sorry for the confusion Arne and our fans!

Ah, I see. That’s almost a shame in itself; I was looking forward to the reaction such a change in Half Loaded would provoke.
It’s interesting that you guys were thinking about cutting the ammo capacity down, though. I’m curious to know what the response was to that change, as it’s hard to imagine what the difference would be other than not having to worry about reloading anymore. That might be more liberating than constraining.
