Welcome back to our second of “The Lab” in August!

“The Lab” is open from Friday, August 20, at 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?) through Monday, August 23, at 10:00 AM PDT (what time is that in my city?).

This episode of “The Lab” features Team Deathmatch games, but with all power weapons removed from the selected maps. That means there is no more rushing for the M-32 Hammer at the beginning of the match, no waiting for the tank to come rumbling through The Village to grab the RPG. In the three maps listed below, we’ve removed all trace of the Desert – 5, M4, Dragon Sniper, Moss – 12, SAS – 12, Pistole, RPG – 7, GAU – 19, and the M32 – Hammer.

Yeah, that means the only tools left in your arsenal are the AK47, FAL, 92FS – 9MM, Micro – 9MM and the Mk-NDI grenades.

The active maps for this weekend of “The Lab” are:

The Plaza
The Train Wreck
The Village

We’ll be opening the No Power Weapons discussion thread on the Naughty Dog community forums at about the same time “The Lab” starts this weekend. Be sure to leave your thoughts after you’ve had a chance to play a few rounds!

Exactly the point. Let’s say all the power weapons were removed from the map aside from the sniper rifle. Pretty much anyone who regularly used the Rifle would grab it and get 10, 20 kills easy. The idea is to really enjoy using REAL SKILL using normal weapons nobody really likes using, AK, FAL, all those normal weapons that actually take skill. Get the idea?

a sniper is a good weapon at pretty much any range(if u r good with it, and im not talking about blind firing.)to blind fire a sniper, the sniper actually needs to be touching ur opponent to get the kill. unless u r really lucky and blind firing it without touching them

Hello Arne! Hello Naughty Dog!
I have an idea about the multiplayer.
I think the next dlc map pack should be An Airport!
I mean the map should be an airport.
Oh, and I’ve got another request: please do something about the dlc’s because i cant buy them!
I am from Bulgaria and there was no Bulgaria in the list of countries available when i was singing up. So I chose another country, that’s why I can’t buy the dlc’s.

what are yu kracked out. the ak is an overpowered weapon in this game. takes six shots to kill someone. and m4 is accurate but takes seven shots to kill someone, upklose yu kan kill sum1 quicker with the ak than the m4. its bullshit

Arne if you could may you please make this as a playlist for uncharted 2 because it requires skill and most ppl in uncharted 2 camp with power weapons and whore it so please make this a playlist this was the best lab so far.

hey naughty dog i got some ideas for a lab that i think would be pretty cool. a 6 vs 6 deathmatch and a free for all were its everyone versus everyone. i know people would say that the maps are to small or theres not enough spawning points for a free for all but thats why its just a lab

omg!! yu are so right man. i played a elimination game yesterday, and past round 3 my ps3 freezes, just a black screeen. every1 i send the game to had the same problem. now this game is extremly important and probably the best elimination game ive eever played & ever will. on the fort, i had glass jaw and come get some. we were 0,2 , when i had 4kills total, round 3,4,5 kan not be shown because o f the stupid cinema but i kame back, i won, && i finished with 13,4,2 !!!

It is easier to level up now than it was a few months ago. The cap used to be at 50k, but now with the extra 25k per match it’s much faster to level up. There were quite a few people who reached level 60 (including myself) before the cap raise. And now with the cap raise, I am starting to see more and more people reaching level 60. Last time I checked there were a little over 3 thousand people at least level 60, while a few months ago, there were less than 1 thousand level 60 players.

Depending on what BoHs you use in a deathmatch, you don’t need 20 kills to hit the cap. I use glass jaw with come get some and 10 kills will give me 75k.

There’s no point to be playing plunder with Glass Jaw or any other BoH. Deposit will give you 60k for a 5-0 win.

Hey arne,

Great work on Plunder! It is much more fun to play it now with the recent changes. The majority of my full friends list play plunder now more than they did before.

However, the plunder mode would be perfect if it weren’t for these few small issues:

1. When people leave the game, the needed treasure captures to win should decrease...like kills do in a deathmatch.

2. Spawn locations need to be fixed in some way. A possible solution would be for the spawn points to be within your own base. As a bonus, this might prevent players from camping within the enemy base.

What are your thoughts?

Are people still complaining about 1.04? seriously?? Look, I loved the game before 1.05 came along and ruin things ( sorry ND, but it did ) but, since then, ND has made decent patches to correct many of their errors. not is wrong with the health/ weapon balance. sure, less talented player can now get a ( cheap ) kill in a situation that they would of surely failed before version 1.05 made it’s appearance. But the better player remains the better player, regardless of the changes made. This gam is still very fun, but if you choose to differ, we understand. It’s not necessary to hop on the blogs and make childish treats about quitting and what not, because we have all seen it gets you nowhere. I mean, give the game a real chance. You might actually still enjoy it. LOL @ the people who complained about the health, the state that they are going back to MW2 o_0 because if too little health, and camping is a problem for you.... Need I even finish that. Well, that’s all I wanted to say.

I’ll tell what the worst maps this game has to offer. Lost city and high rise. talk about power weapon infested. I try to make sure two beat the other team there, but at those maps it’s impossible, even if you succeed in retrieving 1 of the over powered guns, there’s still like 8 to 10 others to be cautious of. it’s annoying. But with that said I did have a pretty awesome match against a party of 4 ( 3 of them being level 60+ ) where I went 27-10. I’ve and scores that could also be consider quite nice. But none against players of their caliber.

Any1 who plays deathmatch and doesn’t like this, is a power weapon whore. shotgun whores probably haven’t even tried it. look I will use a M-32, RPG, Dragon, ect, and not give two * how it makes you feel, but I can rock this lab as well. putting up games like 20-7 15-1 15-5, and so on. my worst game so far was 10-7 but I’ve seen level 60+ doing so bad. not all of them. some are still killing it. there is a HUGE turn off tho. it’s basically like only having two maps to choose from, because every1 avoids the train wreck like it’s a gateway to hell or something.

tThe 15-1 game was a funny 1… kinda. I had 12 kills and not sure how many death, but knew it was few, so I decided to camp ( Shut up ) the remainder of the match. we were up by 7 and needed like 9 more kills. they came all the way back and tied the game, forcing me to come back out and “play”. and the moral of this story is.... camping can really hurt your team

NAUGHTYDOG!!! I just got completely screwed in and elimination game just now. I was fighting a guy 1on1, seeing how it was only us left. it was a critical round for my team, because we were down 2 rounds to 1. we were both in cover, about ten yards apart from 1 another. I plan to throw a nade hoping it would knock him down. It did, the good knock down too. the 1 when you’re on knees and palms, and it takes longer to recover. I run up, blindfire, of which two bullets connected, then smacked him. all before he even stood up. round won, right? WRONG!! He stands, blindfires, hits me, kills me, then dies!!!!! Why?? WHHYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEE????????

got a few things to say on topic and off.

1:well done on this lab played till 5am was great not geting hit by sa campers with shotguns.

2:please keep this as a permanent feature in all competative.

thats the on topic bit.
the only real problem i have with the game is the lag. i have a 50meg fibreoptic connection with the wireless router a foot away and always show full connection so know its not on my end. i put a full ak clip in to a few people last nite and they didnt die. me and the nyringbearer in a sniper match shot 1 person 7 times (watched the cinema back) he didnt die. shooting a guy in the head with a m4 he turned around and 3 pistol shots killed me. this shouldnt happen. its geting worse and worse. please concentrate on rectifing this problem. can put up with glitchers and sa campers as i run evasion almost all the time but the lag is really difficult to accept.

Funny that the lab were open earlier that it should. It said that it will be open from 20:00 (GMT+3 localtime) but were allready open at noon.

Annother thing that bugs me its the multiplayer openging message in Finnish language. It miss the two last letters of “have a nice playing monetns -in finnish”. The last word sould be “hetkiä” not “hetk” (I and A with dots).

i enjoy this lab, but there are some issues i had with it.

1.) even though i’m a high rank i got put up against some baby ranks. i’m not the type that likes murdering baby ranks. i like going up against people my rank.

2.) there was/is a lot of high ranks who’ve been taking advantage of it in general. situational awareness and no negatives. i and every other person i plays with has negatives on. it was a little annoying to be shooting at a person and have this XVIIII waiting in the house to jump down and punch me. i found it funny, if anything. i cuss everyone out. just saying, haha.

3.) wish it was on more maps. the train wreck? really? i almost barfed in my mouth.

the Spawns are really messed up again and the matchmaking is awful but only in the Lab not in REG deathmatch

Today there was 2 levels 10s a level 3 and and level like 21 they were all on my team me being a level 53 while the other teams was like 3 level 60s and 2 level 75s and of course they went and took everyone down and none of them were in party’s

So since all my comments get deleted if I tell the truth, I will try to be nice about this, the spawns NEED A BUTTLOAD OF WORK! The LAG is unacceptable and horrible. The health doesn’t fit the game at all! Need I say whats wrong with situational GAYness? Arne’s performance on train wreck proves that ND knows NOTHING of how to play, rush the shotgun much Arne? Why is the ghost glitch STILL in the game?Why does Arne erase all comments that point out the games flaws? Why is ND clueless on how to SUPPORT an online game? Why did Naughty Dog kill the GAME OF THE YEAR 2009? So many questions yet Arne and Naughty Dog cant answer any of these questions in a good response.

A really great idea would be to have a lab playlist. Like put every single lab in one mode like all competitve modes so people who loved the lab could play them again and people who didnt like them could still play other modes without having to worry about gettinh the lab modes

the best lab so far, love it, great work naughty dog. i would love to see an unpredictable weapon positioning lab. so for example the hammer could relocate to where a shotgun is normally located, or a shotgun where an Ak47 is normally found, but being so many combinations no-one will ever know where the power weapons are, plus this gives a chance to the weaker players coming across these weapons, as we usually occur the better players being able to get to these weapons thus using them to good effect. I’m not sure of the computer IT logistics of making this possible, but I suppose the treasure has multiple spawn points, so I’m sure it could be done, just makes it more interesting. Because every village game everyone goes for the hammer or everyone goes for the RPG, which is nothing wrong the this can get repetitive. This makes it even more challenging for the elite and I think it’s important to make it fun and un-repetitive for them and may give the less experienced players more chance to get hold of these weapons.

Is this a crazy idea, haha any views are always welcome.

Ah, what a shame it is that a playlist dedicated to this awesome match type has gone D:
I absolutely loved this mode and it goes without saying that this is by far my favourite lab to date.

I think that’s because it had lasting appeal and wasn’t as gimmicky as the previous labs. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the grenade only and shotgun only match types, but after a while, their novelty wore off and it felt like I was playing a mini-game of sorts.
The same can’t be said about this one. There was still the core gameplay we all love in U2, but I was seeing so many players (on both teams) getting some skillful and well deserved kills. It was also the most populated; I was never left waiting for players to join (which says something about how much other players enjoyed this match type )
I can only hope this makes a return in one of the playlists in the future ^^

It seems like a lot of people like this lab, but to me it feels like the same game without some of the flavors. I would like to point out I don’t always go for power weapons and they are mostly fun, occasionally they can be annoying, and you see many people going for power weapons in favor over nonpower weapons. I’ve read many comments of people wanting more guns, but why give us less when we want more.

Hello Naughty Dog a lomg time ago I wrote a message or comment to you guys about a problem I was having with the Uncharted 2 video game. Do you guys remember one of the errors the game had about error with syincing models? And yes I know that you posted a solution for that error some time ago. I did what you said and it worked for some time then it happened again, so I deleted the game data for a second time and it worked for awhile but then it kept happening again and again until deleting the gamedata became useless. I have tried again and again to connect to the multiplayer and ever since the May 25 2010 I haven’t played the uncharted 2 multiplayer. At first I thought it was my internet, but it can’t be my internet because I have played other games online like Little Big Planet, Resident Evil 5 and other games without any problem.Before I used to play uncharted 2 almost everyday and all I want is to know if you guys can help me with this problem or if you could do something about this. PLEASE HELP.
