Many of you drew upon your experiences from the Late June/July multiplayer beta and we have been listening to your concerns. We pushed a new update live today that will address some of those concerns.

We’ve seen a tremendous amount of feedback during the first few days of the Subway Taste for Adventure full competitive Uncharted 3 multiplayer experience. Many of you drew upon your experiences from the Late June/July multiplayer beta and we have been listening to your concerns. We pushed a new update live today that will address some of those concerns. The changes include that tweaks to kickbacks, weapons, and the timing of sprint. Specific changes are:

- Stopping Power is back.

- RPG Kickback cost has changed from 8 medals to 10

- Sprint duration has changed from 6 seconds to 4.5 seconds

- AK-47 recoil is tuned

- G-MAL recoil is tuned

Comments have been made about the increased effectiveness of run and gun, but the accuracy has actually been reduced since the Beta. The removal of stopping power is what created this perception. So the old Spray n’ Pray remains true to the phrase. So aside from the turn radius of the sprint, your gameplay experience should be a lot closer to how it was during the Late June/July multiplayer beta.

We will continue to play along with you and will be listening on the forums and the Naughty Dog Twitter to address any further concerns that may arise. We’re stoked we have a second opportunity to refine and develop the multiplayer with such an active and attentive audience as the full retail experience of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception rockets towards launch.

awesome! thanks for listening. that should make a huge difference!

Were you guys aware of the problems at the start of DM on the airplane scene. it’s been freezing. I haven’t been able to play a single match on the airstrip for a day or so. it’s happened about seven times. the plane and the trucks just freeze and people drop and it restarts and does it again. it keeps going for five or six minutes that way until only a player or two are left in the game. If it does eventually make it to the destination (I was the only one who made it on my team once) it’s laggy to the point of not being playable. at one point on the plane there were five unexploded grenades during one match.

any word on fixing the network code?

there is some extremely bad lag. its not like bad as in it takes 5 secs to move. its bad like its a consistent problem. there is always a slight 2-3 sec lag every match and it says my connection is 5 bars before the match started.

an example of the lag would be:
it will take a sec or two to display i killed someone.
grenades the enemies throw explode alot faster than ones i throw.
the train fight sequence in London Underground....... is just flat out the most laggiest part in the game.

i run on Charter Comminications, and my internet is 60Down/5up

i hope this can help.

also can you put the grenades back to the way they were in Uncharted 2?

The changes sound great! Thanks for taking all our feedback into consideration and making the changes so quickly.

Any update on the resetting of player accounts? Having had it happen to me in UC2, and during the UC3 June Beta and never receiving any backup/reset and having to start all over again, myself and many players are very weary of even playing the game in fear of losing all our unlocks and not getting anything back again.

My experience with Uncharted 3 MP so far:

-I really enjoy it. I find it a lot more fun than UC2 MP.
-I love sprinting, although i agree there is barely any punishment for it and almost no point in using Speedy G Kickback.
-The AK-47 is somehow, way more powerful than the M9… (Im unsure whether this is actually power or too much recoil perhaps...)
-TBH, i preferred UC2’s grenades. I thought grenades would be better with a bigger hit radius, but i was wrong. Also, i hate how you cant throw one last minute, but i guess people were gonna complain about that either way.
-There has been barely any connection problems, which is a massive difference AND relief from UC2, HOWEVER, there has been mic issues(distortion in-match), and also people being left in lobby during games.
-The Uzi’s Power needs to be toned down.
-The kickbacks feel like they need to be either more powerful OR less expensive with medals.
-Love the Maps, some of them do feel too similar, but meh, i like them.
-MY K/D Ratio is shockingly bad, and perhaps i suck, but i mostly blame it on the fact that i always end up with an assist instead of a kill
-The Bullet Sponge issue is a problem, but im sure everyone is aware of this.
-There is still lag evident during matches, however it’s much better than UC2 and the Beta.

I also noticed this last night. It’s seriously annoying when somebody’s mic is stuck on, or they’re carrying on some conversation unrelated to the game, but there is no way to know which player to mute. Bring back the indicator, please.

Seems ND has make changes on AK & G-mal, then How about the Dragon sniper??

Have you found that you almost can’t meet any people use the Dragon Sniper now?
Recoil has almost ruined the Dragon Sniper!!!

The aiming of dragon sniper is execellent with the easy crossing lines which is easy to catch the enemies in BETA.
However, the current aiming Sight with the RED Tick make me fuzzy and I can’t find the centre pot in the first second.

Please also do anything for the Dragon sniper or there will be no sniper users anymore....

There’s two things I’m curious about..

1. What exactly is the stopping power supposed to do?

2. After the update, none of my games have counted at all and my progress was reset back about two hours. Any particular reason why that could be happening?

I do have the firmware completely updated, but any missions I do or any stats I get in games don’t count in game. I can even unlock something and it will be locked next time I log in.

so is the dual psn sign in going to be available in the full release? or am i going to have to hear it from my wife for a long time? cause she really enjoyed leveling up on her own! so just make it easier on us married guys and bring it back.

Thanks for listening. Can’t wait to see how the stopping power works out now against the S/BF/M crowd. Question: Are headshots handed out arbitrarily in this game? I felt that was the case with UC2. I can have the dot right on someone’s face and they keep eating bullets. Should I be aiming for their hair? Just wondering; it seems really inconsistent. I feel like I should have a lot more headshots. Liking the MP, but it just doesn’t feel like the skill shooter that UC2 is. (Maybe its the whole sprint thing, not a big fan, wouldn’t mind to see it disappear altogether actually) Now waiting for the freezing issue to get figured out. I will continue to be patient as I love the franchise. See you at AMC 16 in Tyson’s Corner on Oct. 18th--Platinum pass in hand! Thanks again.

Just curious, but am I supposed to pick up the same treasures over and over and over again? I have 2/3 in half the sets because I keep picking up the same treasures, constantly. Especially the damned subway cups! I have gotten all the subway crap and yet I keep picking up more of the cups and sandwiches and stuff...I don’t know if the system is broken or if this is how it’s supposed to work or what, but it’s driving me crazy.

Naughty Dog, are these by any means final changes? Because I wish a middle-ground could be found between the Subway and July betas.

The RPG Kickback change seems fine. The games were a little heavy on RPG’s.

But why did both Stopping Power AND recoil have to get changed? The recoil made shooting take more skill and made the game feel like a new game, not just a copy/paste game mechanics job. The AK-47 was completely fine, as was the G-Mal; they just both needed stopping power to make aiming take prevalence over “running and gunning”.

With both stopping power added and the recoil removed (which it essentially is) the game feels out of whack. It should either be one or the other, and I feel that only stopping power should have been added with the recoil left intact if anything.

Now for sprinting. I felt that it was perfect until this update. Why did you even make “running and gunning” a viable tactic if you were just going to nerf it beyond recognition? Sprint should not be nerfed and those calling for it sound like they want it completely nerfed to the point of uselessness or removed entirely. Just because players are refusing to adapt to NEW gameplay mechanics means that they have to be removed? It’s not a matter of adapting anymore as it feels like a carbon copy of Uncharted 2.

Uncharted is a game about edge of your seat near death escapes, and it truly was prior to this update. Now it is a borderline rehash of Uncharted 2, gunplay-wise.

My verdict: Since Naughty Dog is hellbent on doing something, they should have just added stopping power (minimally), as the recoil really made the game more unique and is the way the game was developed to be. ‘Post-mortem’ (as this was the referred to as the final MP) updates like this are bad news for the overall balance of the game.

In addition to my prior comments: The recoil being removed for the most part also makes traversing the maps more dangerous, and hence less people will be doing it if they are just going to be picked off across the map with an AK-47. This was a horrible issue in Uncharted 2 and it would be awful for Uncharted 3 to suffer the same fate.

Boo on you. The AK was garbage before this update, now it is returned to it’s former glory. It sounds like you are mad you can’t run around spraying and never die anymore. I was playing tonight and traversing and having “near death escapes” often when playing tonight. You just have to be strategic about how you perform your monkey moves.
Remember “aiming down the sights is always more accurate than blind-firing.” Now this statement is true again.

Dont hate on their changes until you actually play the updated version… These fixes may stop the run/blindfire/melee epidemic that has infected the multiplayer… the july beta was better and more fun if they just left it the same i would would have be great, and all that time could have been spent on cosmetic aspects…

Hey ND i live in the uk and i got the uc3 multiplayer but unfortunately i cannot connect to any of my american friends i wondered if this trial is region locked or just an oversight? great game by the way keep up the good work!!

I Really have to give you guys ND a Huge Thumbs up To date you are the only developer I have seen that acts this quickly to address issues brought up by your customers Every Game Developer should take notice and try and learn from ND.
Can’t wait to play the full Retail Version i have No Doubt it will be EPIC!

Could you please just lower the health by a little so that it doesnt take nearly a full AK clip to down someone? Just a little 5% drop should make it a lot better.
Thats my only real complaint with the demo and the beta, i thought it was a bit much there too.

Oh and i assume the cinematics at the start and end of TDM are only removed for this demo, right? It would be a massive shame if they were completely gone.

Thank you for taking care of some issues that others have had. I hope you are still looking into the controller issues. Not only do I still fire or change a weapon when I try to sprint, but now if I aim then trow a grenade I roll backwards and never throw the grenade. When running into a room full of enemies… this is BAD!!! My Kickback also seems to activate itself after a certain time. I wait until the proper moment to use it Not immediately (explosives).

I had the same problem. Everything you are describing is done on the left side of the controller. My suggestion: Buy a new controller. Thats what I did and I’m not having that problem. If you notice the Left Stick gets a groove worn into it producing dust. I think this dust is finding its way down into the controller and screwing with the internal workings of the controller. Use a Q-tip and clean it off every so often and try to blast some canned air down there too. I also noticed that the with sprint in the game I’m getting a bigger groove and a lot more dust. Keep in mind that the DualShock3 has a 1 year warranty so as long as your not dropping/throwing your controller you can probably get it replaced every couple months when the problem arises again. Hope this helps.

REMOVE BLINDFIRE OR LOSE ALOT OF YOUR POTENTIAL FANBASE. The point is to have skill and aiming qualifies for that, blindfire/run n gun garbage does not it only pisses people off that are actually trying to play the game right. Plus you have people not from the US making accounts just to play the US PROMOTION. Address this and kick all foreigners immediately for stealing US codes and ruining the promotion.

Dude why the hate? A lot my PSN friends are “foreigners” get over yourself and stop spreading hate. You’re the reason why the US gets a bad “rap”. Also, where are the rules posted for “play the game right”? Let people play how they want to play! If you don’t like it, don’t log in.

Naughty Dog thanks for the few quick fixes. I’m sure you guys are working hard to try to keep up with the massive flow of complaints and suggestions but please keep up the good work! The fans are still on your side and we’ll do what we can on our end to help make this game successful.

I would still like to bring to your attention the run and gun problem. It was a problem in the previous beta and is still rampant even now. It seems more accurate than actually aiming and shooting. Maybe you can tone down the firing rate when running and gunning or lower the amount of damage it can do. If everyone does it it makes it looks like everyone is shooting someone from something shoved in their pants.

*vague thought: melee with a subway sandwich add-on?

I never played another game like yours where we get updates likes this based on what we have to say. The reason I believe it will be available to everyone on October 19th is because on the blog post saying about the store update, it says the multiplayer is EXCLUSIVE until the 19th.

The guns are too under powered. I was shooting a guy a couple of feet from me with an AK-47, and I could not kill him, even though I shot him about 10 times. He only shot 4 times with his Para 9 and i died. Also, when meleeing someone with an AK-47 or G-MAL, it should only take one hit to kill them, not two.

Melee shouldnt be increased this isnt COD its Uncharted, ok… melee is fine and should stay at two cause then will have new issues and exploits in the game… you maybe the only person that wants it to be a OHK… Ever played Uncharted 2?

I’m really unsure about the mp now.During the beta this was my mp game of 2011/12.When it finished,apart from GT5,no other game I own got played anymore,it was that good.
Somethings not right with this,I can hardly stomach more than two matches before i’ve had enough of it.I love the feeling of weight,but it’s broken by the movement speed,I find tracking down sights impossible now.I just laugh and stand still now as I can’t be bothered with the dreadful close combat.It’s embarrassing watching people running around in circles shooing and mashing punch.
overall it’s better than the beta,it looks amazing,movement around the levels feels so fluid,music is brilliant and it’s still additive,but I actually get annoyed with it,and rarely does that happen when I play games.

hey naughty dog. i was just wondering if when the game comes out that it can be optional to reset ur lvl. but keep ur items or just keep everything. cuz i really want to play and get the items now but i also want to start fresh when the game comes out. adds to the glow of playing such an awesome game. reply plz :D

Still liking the changes but here’s the thing..
Why the heck is Hardcore extra health? That doesn’t seem so hardcore. Why isn’t hardcore like the Uncharted 2 Deathmatch Crushing lab? Everything seemed perfect in that. As it is Hardcore Uncharted 3 is unplayable. It caters to blindfire spray and mele. This is a bummer to me because I get tired of the cheap kills in regular TD from time to time and just want to play without someone spawning an RPG or Bolt action when I am aimed down the irons at them. Does anyone actually like Hardcore as it stands? (Do not answer that question if you don’t know what the L1 button is)

The multiplayer lags at the start and end of every match and sometimes completely freezes for 3-6 seconds then goes back to normal. Also I have been completing missions, upgrading boosters, and editing my emblem but after I disconnect from the multiplayer and come back everything is gone. I have lost over 15 hours of kills/wins/cash and my upgraded boosters from this issue.
For the first 2 days I played Uncharted 3 multiplayer I had none of these problems.

I am NOT ABLE to form parties with my friends. Almost every time we try, it will immediately kick one or more of us out. When we do make it to the “game starting in” screen, when gameplay begins most of us will be left on the finding players screen.

It is breaking the experience, can anyone help?

Is it sure that all levels,experience points,unlocks etc. will be carried over to final game when it’s released on Nov ? I hear a lot of people saying otherwise and i am getting really worried as i am putting a lot of effort and spend alot of time on the game…

ND, firstly I just wanna say thanks for listening to the concerns of many Uncharted fans out there and patching the game. It is certainly more playable than it was 6 days ago but there’s still work to be done, one of which I feel is sprint. There are 3 issues with sprint right now:

Cooldown/Recharge - ND addressed the super long duration in this patch but the cooldown and recharge rate has not changed and is still short enough to be able to spam it. This reduces the need to plan or save sprint for when you need it instead of using it all the time.

Mobility/Control - There is no control penalty and you can do zig-zags and even quick 180s if you roll the stick. It also looks and feels a bit weird (you know the shallow well in the Desert Village? You can literally run circles around it!). Again does not reward smart use of sprint, but rather using it all the time.

Speed - Personally I feel the speed at which the characters sprint makes the gameplay a bit too fast. Aside from that, the real problem I have is that when you combine this with the cooldown and mobility makes sprint a bit overpowered.

These 3 issues make sprint fit for purpose in any situation with no real drawbacks. It would be nice if ND have a second look at the sprint mechanic and fix at least 2 out of the 3 issues above, which I think would balance sprint.

Im having a number of issues in uncharted 3 multiplayer first and worst of them all is sometimes when i die instead of respawning on my screen i see myself lying their on the floor and then a minute later i respawned this happened 3 times in a row last night and it’s happening often mainly at night , will their be an actual patch anytime soon because surely naughty dog this cant be in the disc game , im not the only person in the world having problems as you can see by the comments on here it makes sense to fix these bugs / glitches before the game is released on disc
