“The Lab” starts up again later this week with a weekend of M32 - Hammers Only—we’ll post full details, including variation parameters and maps on Thursday, November 11—and then we’ll be closing out the month with a Thanksgiving themed event.

If you’re new to “The Lab,” welcome! “The Lab” is a special playlist we will be running for a limited time on designated weekends, roughly every other weekend. You can access “The Lab” playlist within the set of playlists found in Matchmaking in UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer. During each weekend “The Lab” is active, we’ll be running a specialized playlist featuring one or more custom-tuned gametype variations from the tons of variables we can tweak in our multiplayer gameplay settings.

We’ll also be hosting a new thread for every event on the Naughty Dog community forums to get your feedback and thoughts on each one of our “The Lab” events.

“The Lab” episodes for November are:

November 12 - 15
M32 - Hammers Only
You’ve experienced RPGs Only through our Deathmatch variations options and been through “The Lab” episode of Grenades Only to get your fill of explosives-only action in multiplayer. In that vein, we’ve focused on that one power weapon—the M32 - Hammer, just in case you didn’t catch that just now—that you all both love and hate. We’re keeping Boosters active expressly so you are presented with the difficult choice—do I go for Sure Foot or Launch Man? Of course, some of you are going to go with Come Get Some for the extra cash—although with relatively limited ammo in your M32 - Hammer, you may not want to opt for Half Loaded unless you’re exceedingly masochistic or just want a challenge. There’s a few other gametype parameters we’re working out for this episode, so check back later this week for our regular Thursday update on “The Lab” for full details.

November 24 - 29
Thanksgiving Event: Plunder - Snipers Only
This episode of the “The Lab” should be rather interesting to play—you may just find yourself running a gauntlet of sniper scopes trained at you from well-placed defensive positions as you try to bring the treasure to your team’s chest to score. Or not. I do know that you WILL be able to get a visual on your target, I mean opponent, a bit easier for this Thanksgiving Event, but remember, the hit boxes are the same size as the less, er, voluminous versions of Drake and Lazarevic. We’re keeping Boosters active—so get your Deposit on for maximum cash in this Plunder variation, which will be DOUBLY effective during this Thanksgiving Event version of “The Lab.” See what I did there? As always, more full details will be available the day prior to when “The Lab” launches for the weekend.

You can be we’ll be playing Black Ops too—there’s nothing wrong with liking (or preferring) a variety of games or any other game over another. I think we’ve got something good with Uncharted 2 right now, and not everybody is going to agree with it.

Although, I hope you were not amongst those claiming the Title Update “COD-ified” our game…

I loathe FPS games like Call of Duty. The third person game engine of Uncharted is far more advanced and freeing than the limitations of the FPS genre which is still stuck with poor controls, limited view, a lack of sense of ‘being’ (if I can’t feel where my feet are then I like to be able to see them) and the generally samey feeling every single one of those games has (plus I can barely tell the difference between Call of Duty and Medal of Honor). I just wish the FPS genre would either die out or evolve but then third person stuff like Uncharted to me is that evolution.

well i just finished playing Black Ops, zombies, multiplayer, and campaign, and i just have to say that Black Ops is definetly the WORST GAME EVER!!!!!!!! $60 DOWN THE DRAIN, A COMPLETE WAIST OF MONEY!!!! the graphics suck, the sound sucks, the guns suck, the story sucks, the multiplayer suck, and YES EVEN THE ZOMBIE MODE sucks(i was looking forward to the zombie mode :( ) it is the worst game even worse than cod MW1 and MW2 even worse than WAW, just horrible!

Arne, hello im a uc2 fan and im wondering is Blasted-o is really a ND member? Since he got the red paw and all, in that case I really do hope that you will take my dlc advices into your minds and see it as a possibility, its your choice if u want but we need at least one more Big DLC b4 uc3 is out. Killzone 2 isa scout is a must for me on heroes n helghast scout on villains. Greetings Xx-Raptor-A4-xX.

back when in september i sold my ps3 and bought a xbox 360 with halo reach. i dearly miss my ps3, but now that i realize xbox 360 but the games that are made just for the 360 are better than the games made for just ps3. but something i do dearly miss i my beloved uncharted 2. so i have the simple request that when naughty dog makes the soon to come uncahrted 3, please please please BRING UNCHARTED 3 TO THE XBOX 360. it would be the best. the whole reason i got the 360 was because none of my friends have ps3, but i do miss my ps3 and its blu-ray, but god damnit i need uncharted for the 360.

Well, first of all, we’re owned by SCEA, so there’s not a chance we’ll be releasing a future game on a non-Sony platform unless something drastically changes, which we can’t think of happening.

Second, asking for this would go against the very reason as to why exclusive games (for any platform) are of generally higher-quality—which is the ability to focus solely on one platform during development.

Sorry, but there’s no chance.

Don’t be an idiot. The PS3 exclusives are far, far better than Xbox ones. God of War, LBP, Uncharted, Modnation Racers, Motorstorm for example have all entertained me much more than any Xbox game (biggest Xbox exclusive is Halo which I just can’t stand to play cos it’s so dull)

Hammers Only is a Deathmatch game type, so Deposit isn’t going to do you much good for that episode of “The Lab”

We’re still tweaking starting ammo on the Hammer, among other things. Thursday we’ll have all those details.

I don’t know if you will reply to this, I know your time is precious and you have a high maintenance job how ever I have some questions.
The older versions of uncharted 2 were not as laggy as the newer versions or at least the current. I know you can not reveal what naughty dog is working on, but could I ask if you have found the problem? and if so are you working on a fix?

Glitching can be a touchy subject as naughty dog did not purposely put those in the game. However it may be difficult to patch heaps of the glitching spots as people complain and complain but never give you solid information on how they have been glitching and the where abouts. Would it be of use to you and the rest of naughty dog if I put together a list of all the glitch spots I no and email all my contacts for similar information? My friend is also working out how to cheat and glitch on purpose to help find glitching spots.

Thats about it in seriousness, one small questions I have a as a general fan is, whats up with the grenades? They used to do more damage or had a larger radius, I am finding them unreliable sometimes now, I have drop grenades and not killed people that were virtually standing on them, So What happened to our trusty explosives?

So, I am still unsure as to a response, It would be much appreciated and possibly give me a reason to keep playing when the game has got me flared up because of cheap glitching and lags. I respect your time is valuable.

As for Hammers only, I keep imagining an explosion spamfest like Grenades Only. Should be interesting, though.

Hi mates.

Everyone is firing bullets at our dogs, but be fair and think about the work they made since the start.

i bet a move edition patch would fit uc2 like a glove, helping new players to adapt the difficulty of the hardcore doggies playing online since the start.

And i LOVE uc2, and the multiplayer experience i have with it.

Good game dogs, stay in that line !

Hammer lab should be lots of fun! Snipers only plunder… sounds tedious. I’ll take the double cash, but from normal game modes.

Seriously though, is there more dlc coming or not? I love this game, and have loved it all year, but honestly, it’s getting kinda stale for me. I wish you guys would at least add some of the more popular labs to the playlists, or, even better, add some new dlc. A new map, game mode, or co-op level would be absolutely fantastic.

Please can you answer these two ideas-----
Can you give a heads up on.........Making a coop survival with unlimited rounds, pleaseeeeee??? Or making it last longer then 10 rounds, please please!!!! Or at least let me know why its not possible to make a +10 round survival mode :( And second----Are there any odds of having new coop missions to complete in the future?? My friends and I have beaten them on crushing many times (back to back and masters of the universe) and would love a new coop mission or two.....

And BTW, I will be passing on call of duty, I don’t like it, not big into 1st person shooters, however I will try resistance 3 when it comes out....But Uncharted 2 is the game I enjoy the most and its 3rd person style enables me to play

And you better buy stock in ace hardware and craftsman, because I am gonna be lettin’ those hammers’ fly cause it’s hammertime! (Does MC Hammer dance)

Effects:

* Stealth: When you’re walking slowly you should have that stealth mode movement which also allows you to have silent steps and jumps.
* More Melee Combo’s - Groin kick followed by upper jaw punch.(maybe a “No children for you!” with Drake ) Or a pistol smack followed by a regular melee punch.
* In-Game Lighting Effects - You will be able to change the time of the day in maps for each individual player, not all in the match. For example you can change The Plaza to day. And for the Flooded Ruins the rain will turn off if set to day.

Boosters:

* Slide n’ Hide: This booster makes your character slide extremely fast across the thing it’s jumping over (like a crate) to have a quicker and safer hide. Also makes you jump longer and faster even when jumping ledges.
* Running Man: This booster makes you run a tad bit faster.
* Cut Back on the Goods (BoH): This will decrease your ammo.
* Can’t Quite Aim (BoH): This will decrease your acuracy.
* So Very Heavy (BoH): This will slow you down when jumping from ledge to ledge, climbing ladders, and carrying the treasure.
* Out of Shape (BoH): This will make you run slower.

Co-op Awards:

* Perfecto Mundo: Complete the 10 rounds of Co-op Arena without dying.
* Stop Right There Fatty: Kill 8 GAU enemies in one match.
* Had to do it the Hard Way: Complete a Co-op Arena round by yourself in a match.
* Surgeon: revive 10 people in one match.
* Turtle: Kill 10 enemies with the Riot Shield.
* Shoe in Your Face!: Kill 5 enemies by kicking them in the face.
* Eat Lead!: Get 80 kills in one match.
* Come and Get It: Kill 20 enemies with the GAU.
* Against All Odds: Kill a GAU guy with a .45 defender.

Multiplayer Awards:

* Close Call: kill a enemy when you are about to die.
* Dogder: Get 5 kills without taking any damage.
* Trigger Happy: Kill over 40 enemies in one match.
* Bring it On: KIll 10 enemies with the GAU.
* Brick Wall: Have another person completely destroy your shield with out dying.
* Slow and Steady: Move with the Riot Shield for 30 seconds straight.
* Human Shield: Almost die 10 times in a game.
* MVP: Get the most money in the match.
* Survivalist: Get the least deaths in the match.
* Slaughterer: Get the most kills in one match.
* Running Back: Capture all of the treasures on your team in the match.
* Shotgun Master: Get 10 kills in one match with the shotgun.
* Superstar: Get 20 different awards in one match.
* Tactition: Get 6 kills from a higher ground than the person you killed in one life.
* Not so Fast: Kill 5 people who are in aiming mode with the Sniper Rifle in one match.
* I Got Your Back: Get 15 assists in one match
* I Kissed My Sweetie With My Fist: Get 15 melee kills in one match.
* Don’t Need No Fancy Weapons: Get 20 kills with the pistol in one match.
* Stay Down: Kill the same person twice in a row.
* You Again?: Get killed by the same person twice. in a row.

Taunts:

* Celebrity Taunts - For example: Michael Jackson will have the crotch grab, mini moon walk, the robot, toe stand, and the anti-gravity lean. Since it’d be kinda weird seeing Lady Gaga or Michael Jackson running around killing people, they should atleast have cool new taunts we can buy. (may not be legal though xD)
* Tickle FIght! - If used the character sticks out his hands and wiggles his fingers.
* Clapper - The character jumps up and down and claps his hands like a 5 year old.
* What Now? - The character pounds his fist on his other hand and turns his head in pity and anger.
* Sharp Shooter - The character uses his pistol and blows it.
* Boo - The character instantly sticks is hands out and makes a claw shaped form with his hands.
* I Pity The Fool Who Can’t Aim - Like Mr. T, the character points his finger with an angry face.
* Stomped! - The character stomps one his foots repetedly.
* Gunner - The character makes his hands in shapes of guns and pretend fires them.

Trophies:

* That’s Sir to You: Reach level 60 in multiplayer.
* Party Animal: Complete 10 games with a party of 3 or more.

Weapons:

* Wes 44 Revolver: Basicly the same thing as the Desert 5 but just replaces iy in maps like The Lost City, The Fort, Highrise, and The Facility.
* M79 Grenade Launcher (replaces RPG in UC1 maps)
* Crossbow: Replaces the dragonsniper in levels like The Lost City, The Temple ( even though it doesn’t consist of a sniper rifle), and The Flooded Ruins.
* P08-9mm: Replaces the pistol (you spawn with and surrounding areas) in The Ice Cave, and The Train Wreck.
* MP40: Replaces the M4 in The Ice Cave, and The Train Wreck.
* Tranquilizer Dart Gun: Replaces the Desert 5 in The Museum, but only contains 4 bullets that will extremely slow you down.
* Old 2x4: This very special weapon you carry around on your back replaces the main gun. It will kill an enemy in one hit, but will break the bat after 4 swings.

These weapons that I put in will make matches more interesting than before.And yes i read that thing about balanced weapons.

In maps such as the facility or any new ones similar to the lost city, there should be dead/ cursed Spaniards or guardians that attack both sides. there fore giving everyone the challenge of killing the other team or capturing treasure as well as staying alive due to these dangerous enemies.

Modes:

* Descendant Battle (co-op arena): For anyone who doesn’t know the Descendants are the mutated spaniards from UC1. In this mode players will fight wave after wave of mutants.I bet ND can think of bigger and badder mutants. At the end of the round Gabriel Roman in mutated form will come and raise heak. He will have as much life as 3 GAU guys.

* 2+2 Siege (Co-op Arena): In this mode 2 people are on one side protecting another area and the other 2 people are doing the same thing but on another area. Both 2 person teams have to complete before going to the next round. If the 1st is complete and the 2nd is still going the 1st can help out by killing enemies, but there is no purpose in being in the circle unless you want to. The 2 teams will have different color areas and names.

* 2+2 Gold Rush (Co-op Arena): Same Idea as 2+2 Siege but in Gold Rush standards.

* Keep Away: This is a mixture of Plunder and Turf War. There will be 3 treasures on the map, and 1 zone for each team. The players have to put the treasure in their zone to gain points. Players wouldn’t have to be holding the treasure while in the zone, the treasure can just stay there. The other team has to score 300 points to win the match.

* Defend Him! (Co-op Arena): This mode will be a lot like Siege except the thing you have to protect is Camera Man Jeff (beat up and shot). The trick is that he will also wander around random places (like an enemy but with no target). His lifeline would be the same look the same as the player when their downed. Jeff will have 3 times as much health as a normal player but doesn’t regin his health.. It’s over when Jeff gets downed 3 times. The thing about when you revive him he only has 1/6 of his life. Heres is the cool part, there will be 12 Health Kits around the map in one game. When carrying the health kit it will be worn as a backpack so you can climb with it without throwing it.The players name will have a big + over it indicating he has a health pack. This mode is more advanced than other ones and it would be fun i think.

* Bump-Off (Co-op Arena): In this mode there will be one main enemy for each round. The enemy pick will be randomized but they will all be extremely tough even if they don’t have any armor. The enemy you have to assassinate will have a gold chest. 50 enemies will be surrounding the main enemy for protection. But the ememy cannot be hurt by grenades, so you cant just throw a grenade and in the middle and it’s over. At the end of round 5 the main enemy will be Leitenent Draza with a Desert 5. At round 10 it will be Zoran Lazzervic with a shotgun and a Wes 44.

* Assassination: One player on each team will be randomy chosen for there VIP. If the player dies, you lose the round. So a couple people will have to stay and protect their VIP, and others try and assassinate the other teams VIP. VIP’s will have a red glow around their body. Same round rules as Elimination, except first team with 5 wins has the victory. 10 rounds max. 5 rounds for win, so everyone on team will be chosen.

* Last Stand: Rounds will include practically every enemy that was in Uncharted, like (UDF) Pirates, Mercenaries, Mutated Spaniards, (UAT) Resistance, Soldiers, Blue Guardians, and the Yeti. I would LOVE this mode, for it challenges and its diversity.

* Highwayman: Steal and capture the enemies treasure, from their base. (Credit to Odgeinator with idea, I just changed name)

Deveria to a laboratory of 5 vs 5 with only one computer for the team (clan) which is to demonstrate their abilities and who are better than others would be fine and I’m not the only one who has called the lab and take somo several encuenta hope so. Also put a single laboratory FAL

ok arne listen im bout 2 be a level 80 me nd my friends are all high ranks nd sum of tha best players on un2....you have alot of fans but u guys have 2 do sumthin 2 keep our attention. adding avatars nd skins tha labs r all BORING WE DONT CARE ABOUT IT. Ya’ll NEED 2 add MAPS like 5-10 decent maps. ur competing with black ops ACB need for speed. MOH...u have 2 add maps or ur gonna loose even more fans just because it gets repetitive

or how bout adding new game modes like free for all. WHY would u do only hammer, grenades, RPG’s, sniper, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, etc those explosion labs involve NO SKILL. thats why LOW RANKS only play them. how bout u make FREE FOR ALL. or keep no power weapons as a choice? DO SUMTHIN GUD NETHING! why is it so hard for u guys 2 give us DLC MAPS. not like tha highrise or tha museum those were tha absolute WORST MAPS EVER! make new maps ND!

New maps would keep people happier than a one off weekend of Hammer only I must admit.
But hey what they are doing is easier than making new maps.

Would you rather they spend ages on maps ETC and halt the production of uncharted 3? For a few maps? which would be in the 3rd game anyway!

Or would you rather they spend solid time Creating as new game all together with new maps, skins ETC while still at least trying to make Uncharted 2 a little more fun by adding a few mixed up games every now and then.

Think before you speak.

They do try. Now get off your arse and get a job of sitting around playing games all day. They did, and they don’t need some nobody like you complaining at their necks. If you don’t like what they have to offer find something more to your liking.

Naughty dog is a great developer Full stop.

If your only playing a game cause your soooo skillful. your playing the wrong game. uncharted 2 is a fun game that is active in their community as proved by the LAB and the anniversary event.

Thanks naughty dog, sorry to bring negative vibes. It’s a shame you have people that hate you for the reasons they love you.

P.s Is Jak and Daxter under development? or has that saga ended?
I never got to play the lost frontier. :(
