We’ve revealed the October 2010 schedule of “The Lab” – which includes a very special, one-day only episode to celebrate the one year anniversary of UNCHARTED 2!

October has a lot of meaning for us – it is the first month in a while to have three “The Lab” weekends AND the one year anniversary of the release of UNCHARTED 2. We’re looking forward to taking full advantage of what the month has to offer…

If you’re new to “The Lab,” welcome! “The Lab” is a special playlist we will be running for a limited time on designated weekends, roughly every other weekend. You can access “The Lab” playlist within the set of playlists found in Matchmaking in UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer. During each weekend “The Lab” is active, we’ll be running a specialized playlist featuring one or more custom-tuned gametype variations from the tons of variables we can tweak in our multiplayer gameplay settings.

We’ll also be hosting a new thread for every event on the Naughty Dog community forums to get your feedback and thoughts on each one of our “The Lab” events.

“The Lab” episodes for October are:

October 1 - 4
3 vs 3 Plunder
More players is not always better… It’s been quite interesting to see how team tactics change (or don’t change) in previous episodes of “The Lab” as we reduce the number of players on each team. Plunder is one of those gametypes where things start to get really interesting when you have less teammates assert your domination over the maps. The tide can turn quickly and a lucky lone wolf can get the opening needed to take the treasure all the way to score – just like Devin Hester did against the Packers.

October 16
One Year Anniversary – Best of “The Lab”
As part of our one year anniversary celebration, we’re running a very special, one-day only playlist rotating through your favorite episodes of “The Lab” – as voted on through our NaughtyDog.com poll. We’re planning to have a grand assemblage of Dogs playing in this playlist throughout the day, along with a few more surprises we’ll reveal in the next two weeks. We’re also looking forward to hosting many new players to our online community, as the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves Game of the Year Edition releases earlier this week.

October 29 – November 1
2 vs 2 Elimination
How do you make Elimination even more tactical? Reduce the maximum number of players on each team down to two. Teamwork, good communication and a sound strategy are absolutely necessary if you want to win rounds and matches.

gggrrrr, i really have to bribe my parents! I know what to say, “You never have to pay for my personal needs (except for clothes) lol… my parents are cheap so its unlikely to happen! Naughty can you make this permanent? Because i think a lot of people might want to do that too! But im just one person so it might not happen.........

I feel your sorrow my playstaion yloded at the weekend and it can’t be fixed do what i did and ask for an early christmas present thats if you celebrate chritsmas i’m now a very cuffed owner of the new 320gb with the new playstaion move. Get in there!!!!

lol make a lab for only lvls 61 and up can join standard dm no powerweapons or SA. high levels HATE playing low ranks high ranks who use SA have no skill plz completely remove situational awareness or make it so if your above a level 60 its void. WE NEED MAPS no skins MAPS un2 gets boring wen u play the same maps make like 10 new maps as fun as the village temple and plaza and watch how many more players u get

You know i would love to see a co-op mission for the villians and some new boosters. It has got really boring for me and unless thwy come out with something that wows me i’m not going to get excited because there’s no point.

Hey, arne, I’ve been away for a while and haven’t played Uncharted 2 (unfortunately) until recently (just started playing again). Love all the new stuff and am excited to see what’s coming up. As usual, you guys are doing a fantastic job, but I just want to know something? Why did you guys change all the money? I’m getting under $50 per kill in Plunder. It’s now really hard to level up. I always played plunder because it set up for intense, fun games where I could get good money. Please set the money straight!

We made some changes to Plunder to enforce the objective of the game—to score the treasure. You’ll get your money (and a very good amount of it) by scoring with the treasure. Focus on that, through teamwork, and not on kills and you’ll do well.

How is this episode of the Lab gonna be any special from what i do all the time - 3 vs 3 Plunder?
Most of the time, especially when i put DLC on, i get a 3on3 plunder match and i can tell you it is pretty fun! Now how is this Lab gonna make it any better? No Boosters or something?

And it also happens when someone on my team decides to leave. 3 vs 3 plunder is not something new to a lot of us!

Answer ASAP please!

can u guys lower the money needed to rank up its rly hard nd makes u not want to do it. im a 71 nd 15 mill to rank up is rediculous and dhen wen i do rank up it starts ALL OVER AGAIN. double $$ isnt enough you can only rank up lyke 2 ranks over tha weekend make it tripple cash it jus makes u not want 2 use negs. cus its to much money needed thanx ND

Wow this is fantastic! a surprise! maybe new maps, new skins, or new co-op. Whatever it is i can’t wait! I’ll hopefully see the NDogs while playing the Lab playlist on Oct. 16

I have a problem, I am currently staying in Student accommodation in the UK and I am only limited to 1mbps internet. I can play CoD online but when I play uncharted I often freeze during the game while everone else is moving around me. I am forced to quit because there is nothing I can do. What bandwidth do I need to play online? I can upgrade my internet but it costs quite a lot.

Yes i do agree, you can’t play Plunder Mode any more… all gamers are so boring and only play TD and TM.
When U2 was new, people played Plunder and if you were luckey you would find a game in no time, but now…
I havn’t been able to get the Plunder Troffy cause i just can’t find a game.

So I’m guessing Boosters are allowed for these labs? I vote no Boosters for the elimination game even though i usually play with Glass Jaw and Come Get Some to get people to run after me while a simple dropped nade kills them. Or SKill too :]

One question - why is the “best of lab” only for one day? It’s a great idea, but I thought the original reason for the lab was experimenting with different playlist types. Now you know which ones work best, and you could make a playlist which is garaunteed to please lots of people, and yet you only use this knowledge you’ve gained after months of labs and theis new playlist you’ve created for one day? Why not have the 1 year anniversary as the official release? I know you want to make the 1 year anniversary special, and I’m sure you will with thes “Other surprises”, but I would love to be able to play this best of lab playlist for more than one day. Please answer!

I was looking forward to a DC for Halloween seeing as how you usually do DC on holidays.

Maybe you’re keeping it in store for the one-year anniversary perhaps. I can only hope so. Leveling up now at 54 is hard.

3vs3 plunder seems bad i remember 2vs2 in the ice cave it was bad because in the ice cave is: 1X hammer 2X moss-12 shotgun 1Xdeseert- 5
1 pistole shotgun 2 dragon snipers and thats ways to mutch for a small amout of players.

I dont care for 3 v 3 plunder or 2 v 2 elimination. But can ND clarify which playlists will be on the Anniversery Special because i really want ‘Grenades only’ it was one of the very few times i actually laughed my butt off.

This game has gotten a little bit boring for me now as there is not even enough maps on the game and i am tired of playing in the same maps everytime, i keep checking this website regularly to see if there are anymore new map packs out but still nothing i see, come on Naughty Dog please listen to us.

2v2 Elimination is going to be nice. A nice change of pace. I know I cry and complain sometimes but kudos is still in order to you guys at ND for such a revolutionary game. Keep up the excellent work!! Just one thing tho, whether or not you are aware of the spawn algorithm on all maps, they are very bad sometimes while other times they are seamless. Please watch some of triplewreck’s videos on youtube and understand we ask these improvements because we are the players having to deal with sometimes frustrating and preventable problems.
