“The Lab” starts up again in the first weekend of September – that’s next week, along with Labor Day and PAX Prime – and we hope you’ll join us.

If you’re new to “The Lab,” welcome! “The Lab” is a special playlist we will be running for a limited time on designated weekends, roughly every other weekend. You can access “The Lab” playlist within the set of playlists found in Matchmaking in UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer. During each weekend “The Lab” is active, we’ll be running a specialized playlist featuring one or more custom-tuned gametype variations from the tons of variables we can tweak in our multiplayer gameplay settings.

We’ll also be hosting a new thread for every event on the Naughty Dog community forums to get your feedback and thoughts on each one of our “The Lab” events.

“The Lab” episodes for September are:

September 3 - 7
3 vs 3 Deathmatch
We’ve dropped two of everything for all matches in this Deathmatch variation – you’ll have two less teammates and two less Boosters to aid in your domination of the opposing team.

September 17 - 20
Desert - 5 Shootout
In this episode of “The Lab,” you’ve only got your trusty eight-shooter, the Desert - 5, to rely on against your opponents.

true that but they cud always select which maps for the lab or something..they usually do that anyway..(imagine as soon as the amtch starts in the cave everyone spawns and u already kno where ur opponents spawn go directly there and kill em..tht wud be unfair for noobs lol

Thnk you for saying something major cuz instead of new skins and punishing the players for playing your game by paying less (it is a videogame!!! it is supposed to be over the top!!!) why not fix pressing issues such as the party creating freeze up. It happens entirely too much guys. Or how about spawn locations and lag kills. Tired of being spawned on and killed because of it. Or spawning in front of three opponents barreling towards me. It really depreciates the fun that can be had.

are you serious? You think 50k for a headshot is reasonable? Thats 1000 times the amount you get for a kill in deathmatch. WELL beyond reasonable. Although I do agree with you on the point that leveling up has slowed like nobodies business. I work my ass off in objective modes and Im only pulling in at most, like 5000. Now perhaps Im missing the more important medals you can get in those modes, but I feel like the decrease in kill rewards far outweigh the increase in objective rewards and it just doesnt balance well

Well think about if the money cap still applied per game. Only 75K. You would really only need one headshot a game plus how well you do in the round. I don’t think it is unreasonable considering how unpredictable matchmaking can be at times and the tarded leveling system. People would really start practicing their top-popping skills. But I am sure ND slowed leveling to keep people playing until UC3 comes out. But people will become tired of this game faster due to the money changes and stop playing because they aren’t being rewarded for it. Whatev.

And I am going to fourth this. I said something about this further up the page but a melee only would be sweet! Set it up like it is in single player. Like button prompts for each fist thrown or kick attempted, but first one to miss like two or three buttons dies in an awesome kill animation!! It would make the match SUBSTANTIALLY more even. If it can be done, Think about it PLEASE!!!!

Oh spawns have gotten the worst I have ever seen them. I stop myself from killing a group of people sometimes cuz they will spawn directly in front of me. Others dont have the same courtesy and I get it but come on.. Spawning in front of a group of people and dying before even getting my gun up is starting to get old.

Dude. Take a chill pill. If you are freezing and lagging that much then you have a bad internet connection. I know that my connection isn’t the best in the world but Uncharted 2 like hardly ever lags for me. Naughty Dog is doing a fine job and it isn’t there fault for people camping. That is just how a lot of players like to play. I have started doing it on MW2 and I now see why people love to do it. It is such an easy way to get kills. So my advice to you is eathier shut the hell up or get lost.

Hey ND, previous labs have been pretty good, n these ones sound alright. RESPECT. But I as are many people over n over ( didnt count but quite a few just posting here) and in the forums are pleading for either a Double cash weekend or at least some info on if and when one may be happening. Forgive my ignorance but I check the forums n wat not regularly and have not been able to find a reply to this issue, which as you must see is on many peoples minds. Personally its just getting a little demoralising trying to level up with invalid n half loaded (im only 54) and seemingly not getting very far cash wise, all the while watching my KDR plumet cause of boosters (or prob just my lack of skills)I among many many others would just like a weekend where u get a bit more compensation for your BOH troubles, and have maybe just even a glimpse of hope to reach lvl 70/80 or whatever floats your boat. Sorry for the whinge. Overall a fantastic game im sure you guys are very proud of.

ND seriously? why did you guys have to keep trying to make the game better? your just making it worse, the game was brilliant at the start now its lost its touch cuz of the crappy title updates and trying to fix the “problems”, it was good until u did that, yous are ruining one of the best games ive ever played and i dnt want it to get any worse, put it back to the 1.04 title update cuz players liked it that way. . . .

Hey ND, 3 VS 3 WTF, come on, 30% of my games are 3vs3.

Desert 5 Shootout, That one im looking forward to, Will be fun, Hope we have extra Ammo.

Please make them longer than just the weekend, i work a lot over the weekend (to pay for more ND games) and dont always get to play the labs for a long period of time.

3V3 is a good idea especially with no boosters. Buuuuut I would be more excited if I wasn’t stuck in a 3V3 game because people leave which leads me to the question,

Would you ever consider a lobby like COD? So instead of one team being handicapped, another player will enter, the player could be notified they could enter a game already in place (as long as it has only been present for less than half the match) so they can decide to join it or look for another match.

Love the Desert Eagle idea! :D

I think that the 3 v 3 deathmatch is a very good idea but what i am most excited for is the desert 5 shootout. it is going to be so awesome! i love desert 5’s in the first place because they are basically the best pistol in the game but to have a mode when it is just that......I LOVE YOU NAUGHTY DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have to complain about people who play uncharted 2 there are level 1s who are hackes they just leave games so they be lower levels the reason i know is that when you get killed it says the killers name and what booster they used if it doesn’t show any it means they dont wanna use them but if it sas none it means they did not buy any. BUT THERE ARE LEVEL 1’s THAT DONT SHOW THERE BOOSTERS AND THAT PUMP IN MY GRAVE AND THERE ARE LEVEL 20’S WITH “come and get some and glass jaw! so please fix that

hey ND the labs * rock.the whole game is awesome...desert eaggie deathmath i was hopin for that.no power weapons bring it back please its excellent goin head up with a weenie who only has skills with power weapons.wheres the double points at im at 61 and its takin forever.

Its really nice that you are making new lab gametypes, but i dont get those 3vs3 or 2vs2 things.
2vs2 was boring and 3vs3 comes in original deathmach too, if you dont find all the players!
And if its not possible to update to uc2, make it in uc3 = more players in one mach, 10 is not enought

i think 3 VS. 3 deathmatch is a great way to hone your skills as an individual player and as a team. its nice to not have to worry about getting shot at every 5 seconds! i really wish Naughty Dog would make this mode a permanent one in the game. PLEASE!!!!???

this statment i am making is a general statement about multiplayer. I think the desert lab would be a great idea i have no doubt that future labs will be great. Hopefully you guys are working on a new dlc map pack or weapons or new boosters, that would be nice.I know for sure you guys are working on fixing all the glitches in the game, but as you have fixed many of the them, there was one problem that was created after you guys fixed these glitches. i have had the game for a long time now and with every update it becomes harder and harder to party up with my friends. it is ridiculous every time i want to party up with a friend i get this unable to join message, sometimes it says he is playing single player when he is in the lobby. i tested this by calling my friend to see if he had the same problem. the other day it said all my friends were playing single player but were at the top of the list where the people in the lobby should be. i couldn’t join there party and they couldn’t join mine. i spent a half hour trying to party up with a friend i knew from five years ago. once i joined his party, it just kicked me out. It didn’t give any notification of why i was kicked out it just broke up the party after half hour of restarting the game over and over again.sometimes when i join there party we cant hear echother on the mic until the game starts. The point of this message is that i ask for you guys to do what follows:
1. i ask you fix it if there is an issue
Now ask anyone on playstation network to write a response to this comment if they have had this problem.

i really like the 3 on 3 deathmatch. it offers me the chance to further develope my strategy without having to worry about getting shot at every several seconds. tho i wish the level variety was bigger and that you could have used boosters, although i fully understand why the mode is so limited. Naughty Dog wants to do testing to see how the mode plays out and needs very controlled conditions ( like a beta). i hope 3 on 3 becomes available as a permenent mode in the near future, complete with the ability to play on any map and use boosters.

I know I’m off topic right here.... but naughty dog, c’mon. You guys are great, but Uncharted 2 needs some patches right now. The FAL is just useless now. And sniper and pistole TDM with one shot kill snipers is BS. I’m not saying that one shot kill sniper rifles are bad, but they need to be 2 shots kill for sniper and pistole TDM. Also something in this game that doesn’t make sense is how the pistol is more powerfull than the freakin’ AK??

When are you bringing out new DLC? For that I think a jungle theme would be cool :D And for new skins you could bring out a “fat” girl-caracter! like fat-Elena! Haha… GAME ON!

There is nothing that beat Uncharted 2s Labs Yet, but i got 1 big problem, my booster that shod give me more money for achivments/medals don’t work…

I hope that uncharted 3 will be in Atlantic! And that you could have some Co-Op, I’m not talkning about Online Co-Op, I’m talking about normal SP, so you could be more then 1 player on 1 ps3. I’m not saying that you shod be able to play 2 people (or more) like you do now on Unchated 2, but you could add an camapin for 2players, just take some old maps from Drake’s Furtune and U2 and Mix them up a bit!!!
