The new DLC, Matchmaking and you
We’re right on the doorstep of releasing the “Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack” – our latest set of downloadable content which includes six character skins and two new maps available separately or as a bundle for use with UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. A common question we’ve seen from our players is how we will add these maps to our matchmaking system.
Purchasing either the maps or the bundle unlocks an option in your online profile, which is accessible by pushing the square button on your controller.
As you can see in this set of screenshots, the new option is called “Matchmaking.” The option has two available options: “Default” and “DLC.”
Leaving the option at “Default” essentially tells our matchmaking system that you want to get into matches as quickly as possible. The matchmaking system will then prioritize your matchmaking based on the installed content.
The matchmaking system will first attempt to place you in matches where all players have the new maps installed – up to 10 players in competitive modes and 3 players in cooperative modes. If it cannot find an open slot for you, your party or create a new full match within a reasonable amount of time, the matchmaking system then expands its search and attempts to place you in any match using the original on-disk maps with open spots.
This does mean that you risk the chance of not playing the new maps very often until enough players with the new maps installed have entered the matchmaking pool.
Choosing the “DLC” option tells our matchmaking system that you want to be matched with players who also have the new maps above all else. This means you are essentially forcing yourself to ONLY play with players who also have the new maps installed. This can potentially mean long waits if there are no open slots in existing matches or if the system cannot create a new match where all players have the new maps installed.
If you have a party of friends who all have the new maps, have the “Matchmaking” option selected to “DLC” and THEN a new friend joins your party without the new maps, the system will recognize this and only place your party in matches playing the original on-disk maps to ensure that your party does not have to break up.
Whatever setting you choose, we hope you’ll find “Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack” worth your hard earned cash. Choose wisely and see you online!

OK Naughty dog this is what I think. The update is really good ( 1.05 AND DO NOT STOP READING BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT WE THINK, THAT IS NOT THE POINT WITH THIS COMMENT! I AM GETTING THERE) if you are good. I love it cause I believe I am good XD. But in the new DLC as you know there is 2 new maps and the lord health cant exist on thees. You die all the time and people not only me get bad stats. And I red at IGN and on all other pages that the DLC included The pirate, SAD! Consider thees 2 things please.

It will be uploaded today. Playstation Network has to update the Playstation Store, not Naughty Dog. It will be up later. Chill out and have some patience.
Why don’t you call them and ask them wtf, we our the customer, leave to playstation to screw up a release date again.
Call them? WTF to you my friend. It’s been like this since I’ve had my Playstation3 which was December of 06. The Europe Playstation store gets updated first because Sony is not an American company. The US has always updated between 5-9 in the U.S pending time zones. Central time it’s usually 7 P.M. Just be patient.

i have to admit i pretty confused so is it coming out today or not i ready to buy it as soon as it comes out
the maps are great for co-op arena, the facility looks great, but the match making idea is not so good, i’ve been able to play two games in co-op arena one on each new map, but I haven’t been able to have a competive play on them, and I’ve been trying for 3 hours, so Naughty Dog could you just make a map pack playlist, it would be alot easier, and leave the co-op arena the way that is, please, as I would like to play these maps with just a button press, or under each playlist name, when you select which playlist to play, have a number of players with map packs in that playlist so players don’t have to seat there playing not being able to play with there maps. But the maps are great, the facility reminds me of a scene from indiana jones and the raiders of the lost ark

when i started the game it told me i noticed you don/t have the new map pack and it said would you like to go to ps store ... i said yes and it brought me to the heros pack and i downloaded it thinking it was the map pack....where is the map pack i can/t find it…

I Have been on this Uncharted all day today is Feb25th still can not Download the new MAPS what is going on.

i feel like frustrated with this news map,why?cause when i play multi online,its always the older map we have to choose,i really want an option like kz2,make us choose the type of map we want to play,not the 2 alternative choice,cause i was playin like more than 3hour and i was never have the choice of the newest map...only the older its sucks,if i want to play the new the only one choice i got its to create an party with friends,its an thing you have to change plz

My sentiments exactly.
The only change I actually like or love about 1.05 are the additional types of medals. But I will buy the full bundle today because I trust in NDs judgment in past and future decisions. Multiplayer is only going to get better, we just have to give it a chance and let it grow.
then again going to buy it anyways b/c most everyone that dont buy it will prob do that glitch shit and cheat to level up fast then buy the other maps when they reach 60 not everyone but will cheat but im sure there will be a hand full.sad sad sad ppl have to cheat to get the best out of there game.
uncharted is my all time fav game and i have faith in naughty dog so im going to keep playing the 1.05 update hopfully ppl will stop camping
That’s a great idea ! *SARCASIM* Why support these guys by buying the download so they can pay the saleries of the people who listen to us and make the proper fixes. Ya’ll are a bunch of Veruca Saltz… “But I want my golden goose now!” Things take time to fix and can not be done so at the drop of a hat. So if you think your little ultimatums are accomplishing anything, think again. I for one am greatful for every little update they make. Indifferent to whether I die one bullet faster or not. You know what I do, I deal with it and adjust my game accordingly. That is what makes a well rounded gamer, not all the crying.
I thank and commend you, Naughty Dog, for every bit of effort put into this game. I know it takes money to make the world go around, so I will purchase this DLC and ALL the other future DLC for Uncharted 2 because I know ya’ll will not let a “game of the year” fade into the background.

I’m willing to support ND. As for those who threaten to boycott the game because of how they tweaked it, good riddance. I’m sick of hearing people whining all the time. The rules apply to every player so adjust your style to the conditions. Enjoy the game for what it is.
i like the new weapon adjustment. its the auto view change that suckz. if that high power sniper rifle doesnt kill in one shot then its not a real sniper rifle. it may as well be a 22 caliber rifle (scout)

Does this happen to someone else. It always says I am mercenary soldier and on the good team its says I am the new drake. Why does it do that.

It’s unfortunate so many people choose to veto a change they don’t preticularily care for. Quite frankly, I used to think taking near a clip of AK-47 fire was a little redundant. I quit playing for a bit and came back to try the 1.05 update and love it. Now, I am one of those players who whored the grenade launcher and shotguns alike. I loved being able to run around like a small human tank and slaughter people. It was fun. This however, feels more rounded and more true to Uncharted. The game IS a cover based shooter. It’s still fast paced. Still has climbing. Still addictive. Now it’s just a bit more cautious. It takes more patience and more skill to get a stealth kill or to run and gun shotgun. I also realize you are voicing your opinions because NDI listens. A lot. Which is great. But threatening not to purchase or not to play seems rather childish.
There was a time in gaming where games didn’t update and you either learned and got better or you just quit and no one cared. It used to spawn better competition.
Dude. The very fact that you’ve resorted to the so-called power weapons before 1.05 update is a concrete indication that you have no right to state that ppl are ‘childish’ because they threaten not to purchase the new map pack.
Oh and um...I think many many ppl have already mentioned that it does NOT take entire clip to kill person prior to 1.05? I myself killed at least two opponents with AK prior to 1.05 before emptying my clip
nilatir, quite a few people are upset over this update because it has changed the game drastically & become more like the other shooter games on the market.
There was skill before.
All the update did was punish people who can’t aim. Seems fair enough to me. The only complaint I had was the auto-shoulder switch, but I’m confident Naughty Dog will fix it. What was the big problem with it?

Ahh.. its a shame they basically forced me to quit playing, i was waiting for new maps ever since the fort release and even before that.
Sigh.. ND you dissapointed me. How hard is it to say oops, lets go back a patch. Hit the undo button. Please and you will sale a lot more map packs.
naughty dog has done a very great job on uncharted .but have failed on the health issue the game is a completly different game used to be fun. ok yea getting shot by the shotgun all the time was annoying but the game was still fun .now its “call of uncharted”
you know i understand that most people dont like the fact that you die way to easily now but other than that and the shoulder thing this wasnt a bad update. believe me i use to be able to turn around and kill just about everybody who use to shoot me in the back now i have virtually no chance of that and it sucks but i am excited about the DLC just wont be able to get it right away no money. :(

No, it will roll out throughout the different regional PSN Stores (Asia, Japan, Europe, US, Canada, etc.) at the times those stores do their regular update on Thursday, February 25, local time.

I’m hoping the money from the sales of the DLC can go towards hiring someone to investigate my lost uncharted game, or at least someone with a spine at ND. Why don’t you cross-reference your comments with their stats before you take any stock in what they think. Congrats on all those awards on a game that doesn’t even exist anymore, only a naughty dog would try to f*** everyone. Hope ya catch something. I’ll just hold on to my last sliver of hope

I watched someone yesterday from another team attempt to get into a glitch. He died right away. BRAVO to ND. One for the good guys. good point without us naughty dog wouldnt have this big of a name now .in fact i didnt even know who they were untill uncharted 2 but now i do and i have bought both uncharted 1 and 2 have beat both of them and even spent more money on there dlc pack whitch is awesome.and so is naughty dog, but the biggest thing is that they need to give us our game back.i miss uncharted the way it was

I’m just waiting to see the glitches (especially in the Fort and the Ice Cave) closed up. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in a game with some level 60 dillhole that hides in the walls for easy kills.

yea f$%^ cheaters go cheat on single player not online.online is meant to be fair.to all the cheATers sell your copy of the game to someone who is going to take pride in the game not cheat to make themselves feel more like a winner.
Sounds like a very elegant solution to getting players with purchased content into a game with that content versus splitting the player base. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow.

The DLC seems cool, but dividing the community like this was kind of a d*** move. Now it’ll be more difficult to find players and play with friends. Might I suggest, for future DLC, make the maps free and charge for new skins, new taunts, boosters, anything that won’t affect the main experience. I’m sure many people would pay for the extras mentioned above to pay for ND’s bills, so why bring maps into this?

It’s a shame that you decided to take almost all of the fun out of the game with the latest patch.
I had been waiting to buy new maps for sometime, but I was basically forced to quit playing the game since 1.05 came out. DLC now is probably a no-buy now since I can only play a game or two at a time now since it’s just no longer fun. Killing more doesn’t equal more fun.

All i hear in my headset now is bitching and I eventually turn it off after a game or two regardless of how I do in the match.

He seems to be sending mixed messages to me. On the one hand, he’s saying Naughty Dog is listening but on the other, he says player numbers haven’t dropped off. So what would be their motivation to revert some of the updates of 1.05 since he claims the majority wanted it in the first place and just as many players still log on. To cater to the “so-called” minority? I personally do not like update 1.05 but I get this feeling (call me pessimistic) they won’t completely revert the weapons/balance thing but will come to some middle road again.
Yeah they won’t completely revert to pre 1.05. They’ll probably find a middle ground of sort btw 1.04 and 1.05.
