The new DLC, Matchmaking and you

The upcoming UNCHARTED 2 “Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack” downloadable content contains two new maps. In this post we’ll discuss how we’ve added the new maps to our matchmaking without creating new playlists, and how to configure this in your online profile to set your matchmaking preferences.

We’re right on the doorstep of releasing the “Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack” – our latest set of downloadable content which includes six character skins and two new maps available separately or as a bundle for use with UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. A common question we’ve seen from our players is how we will add these maps to our matchmaking system.

Purchasing either the maps or the bundle unlocks an option in your online profile, which is accessible by pushing the square button on your controller.

As you can see in this set of screenshots, the new option is called “Matchmaking.” The option has two available options: “Default” and “DLC.”

Leaving the option at “Default” essentially tells our matchmaking system that you want to get into matches as quickly as possible. The matchmaking system will then prioritize your matchmaking based on the installed content.

The matchmaking system will first attempt to place you in matches where all players have the new maps installed – up to 10 players in competitive modes and 3 players in cooperative modes. If it cannot find an open slot for you, your party or create a new full match within a reasonable amount of time, the matchmaking system then expands its search and attempts to place you in any match using the original on-disk maps with open spots.

This does mean that you risk the chance of not playing the new maps very often until enough players with the new maps installed have entered the matchmaking pool.

Choosing the “DLC” option tells our matchmaking system that you want to be matched with players who also have the new maps above all else. This means you are essentially forcing yourself to ONLY play with players who also have the new maps installed. This can potentially mean long waits if there are no open slots in existing matches or if the system cannot create a new match where all players have the new maps installed.

If you have a party of friends who all have the new maps, have the “Matchmaking” option selected to “DLC” and THEN a new friend joins your party without the new maps, the system will recognize this and only place your party in matches playing the original on-disk maps to ensure that your party does not have to break up.

Whatever setting you choose, we hope you’ll find “Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack” worth your hard earned cash. Choose wisely and see you online!

Call them? WTF to you my friend. It’s been like this since I’ve had my Playstation3 which was December of 06. The Europe Playstation store gets updated first because Sony is not an American company. The US has always updated between 5-9 in the U.S pending time zones. Central time it’s usually 7 P.M. Just be patient.

i feel like frustrated with this news map,why?cause when i play multi online,its always the older map we have to choose,i really want an option like kz2,make us choose the type of map we want to play,not the 2 alternative choice,cause i was playin like more than 3hour and i was never have the choice of the newest map...only the older its sucks,if i want to play the new the only one choice i got its to create an party with friends,its an thing you have to change plz

I’m not really replying to Draicus.

The DLC seems cool, but dividing the community like this was kind of a d*** move. Now it’ll be more difficult to find players and play with friends. Might I suggest, for future DLC, make the maps free and charge for new skins, new taunts, boosters, anything that won’t affect the main experience. I’m sure many people would pay for the extras mentioned above to pay for ND’s bills, so why bring maps into this?

So, we shouldn’t complain when the developers change the gameplay of the game that we paid for with our hard earned money when we don’t like the change. You know what? * you. You are a noob. You think that there’s a right and wrong way to play a game. If people want run and gun, then they should. And if people want to play tactically then they should. Besides, this isn’t Gears of War. It’s Uncharted. And don’t give me that bullshit about a “majority”. Of the 2.7 million people who bought Uncharted 2, how many of those people do you actually think come to this website? If they wanted a fair survey, they should’ve had it in the game itself so everybody who plays it could vote. But even more importantly, they had the ability to make everybody happy by making it it’s own playlist. But instead they only tried to please the exact majority.

I cant find it...I checked the PS.Store, and i cant find the New DLC Pack...wen i went online it sed, “we noticed you dont have all the DLC Pack”...i clicked yes...and theres nothing, only the skin pack(which i already bought)...ANYONE PLEASE HELP

calm down fellas - ND has no control over when Playstation updates the store - this typically happens sometime around 6pm eastern - so sit tight it will happen. This has been a constant complaint and many people have brought it to Playstation’s attention. I agree why announce you are going to make it available on a specific date when in fact it isn’t available until 6 hours before that day is over.... but again, not ND’s fault - cut them some slack

I’ll definitely be buying this DLC when I start to actually play this game again. But that’s not happening until they bring back the old health and fix the mess they made with the stupid shoulder switching system and the way you’re randomly kicked out of a match.

IF YOU DON’T SEE THE DLC IN THE STORE, you just have to be patient. ND has sent the update to the PlayStation network, but the PSN Store itself updates at different times in different places. It’s not just one big website, it’s a network, and each server updates at a different time. Just be patient, girls… you’ll all get to go to the prom eventually!

I m at level 52 and i didn t see any differences with the update...used to kill a lot of players still killing...Naughty Dog you created the best game ever for now and opened the videogame industry to a new concept...From someone who’s also in the industry...GREAT JOB GUYS...Please Carry on...Never had so much fun playing a videogame.

just a note for all of those comlaining about the update - I was right wth you when the update first hit. I was working my way up to level 54 had had invalid booster on - this meant my life was essentaill 1/4 normal. It was brutal BUT once I reached 54 and starting using half loaded I realized that suffering through the lowered (substantially lowered) health made me a better player. Now at level 54 with half loaded It is more fun, I still get my 50K a game and am getting more kills (and killed less). give 1.05 a fair shot although I do think that the maps need to be adjusted to minimize the amount of camping and sniping possible. Some of them where great b4 1.05 (ex; Fort) and they are now unbearable due to the camp and snipe contingent....

Hey Naughty Dog here’s some advice. Maybe if you guy’s didn’t suck off to UK customers so hard, and leave U.S customers in the dust you would get more people BUYING your game, ever thought about it? Any american reading this should know just to give up on the DLC coming to U.S. It’s already 3:30 PM at U.S and it’s still not here, what does that tell you? ND has strong favoritism to the UK and strong dislike for the U.S. I’m warning you guy’s, favoritism is not a good thing and you should treat everyone equally…

Where the hell is the DLC? You can obviously tell someone isn’t doing their ****ing job right because when you log into the multiplayer, it says, “We notice you don’t have the new DLC. Go to the Playstation Store and buy it?” When you click Yes, it takes you to the store, and all that’s there is the Heroes Skin Pack! Someone should sue…

Naughty dog you should put another playlist like a crushing mode so we can choose what we want to play, im level 53 and i dont care if you fix it or not i will just keep playing no matter what, but some people are used to play with the normal health.

The new medals are great, the maps is going to be a problem because not everyone will buy the maps and is going to be a little hard to find players.

You should give us the new maps for free like you did with the fort and sell us the players.

Hi, ND.

I hope you will read this post because I didn’t find an answer on the Official Playstation Blog.

I live in France.

I’ve checked the french PS Store tonight, and I’ve only found the DLC bundle Drake’s Fortune (new maps + new skins) at 4,99€.

But according to a former article of this blog and the IGN DLC preview, there should be three different offers:

- maps + skins (5,99$/4,99€)
- only the skins (2,99$/1,99€)
- or only the maps (3,99$/2,99€).

I’m not so much interested by the new skins, I just want to purchase the new maps…

So, is only the bundle (5,99$/4,99€) available in European Playstation Store (and in french PS Store)?

I could not purchase only the new maps like in US?

Thanks if you answer me.

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou Naughty Dog u guys r the best I’m really happy with the new health system update it’s nice and more realistic now I hated the way how it used to take soooo many bullets before just to kill ur oponnents so I started playing Modern Warfare 2 ever since I heard of that new update I played Uncharted 2 again and loved it u guys did a Fantastic job well done Naughty Dog as u guys have done a great job I’ll definitely buy the PS Heroes Pack and the new Drakes fortune multiplayers skins and map packs now and once again thankyou Naughty Dog.

Great job on the maps but based on the size you have made them I’m only suggesting that you increase player capacity for only the large maps to maybe 6v6 or 7v7 but it’s only my opinion anyway looking forward to the dlc in april

this has nothinh to do with the maps,im tired of people leaving matches and my playstation frezes up have to re start and then the mesg.says i left the game, when i did not it takes 40,000.00 dollars all the time and im sick of this it takes a lot of kills to get that kind of money and u take it ,this has happened to me 6 times now,fix this problem.....thanks

hi all and speical for naughty dog , i hv a big problem i need help . i have bought the nwe DLC maps and download them but still when i join to online they said ( we notes that you dont hv the lastet DLC map pack ) !! how i bouhgt them from the ps store , i can play in custome game but the big problem i cant play with any other players !! even my freinds i always see them playing single player infact they are playing online and every thing good and they hv their maps ! what my problem guys and sorry for bad english

Naughty dog needs to stop changing everything and just leave it how it was. the new update sucks, grenades are practically useless now and the FAL shoots slower it seems. STOP FREAKIN CHANGIN IT AND JUST LEAVE IT HOW IT WAS

I think they should make a Jak and Daxter DLC with some of the characters and a couple of maps. Maybe a coop objective would be cool too. It would feel awesome to go around shooting people like Jak and Daxter again!
