UNCHARTED 2 PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack available TODAY
Today, January 28, is a great day for us at Naughty Dog as the first downloadable content for UNCHARTED 2 is available on the PlayStation Network Store for anyone and everyone around the world to purchase.
Announced last week on the US PlayStation.Blog and EU PlayStation.Blog, the PlayStation Heroes features seven key characters from your favorite first-party PS3 games from the last fourteen months—inFAMOUS, Killzone 2, and Resistance 2. By downloading the PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack, you’ll get a chance to use Cole, Evil Cole, Zeke, Sev, a Helghast soldier, Nathan Hale or a Chimera out into the competitive multiplayer modes of UNCHARTED 2 (and hopefully surprise a few people you’re playing against). The Pack is priced in the US at $4.99. If you’re reading from outside the United States, check your local PlayStation Network Store for your local pricing.
Since this was our first attempt at importing characters from other games and engines into the Naughty Dog Engine that powers UNCHARTED 2, I hit up one of our lead character artists to help me coordinate and produce some nice high-resolution renders of all these characters from within our tools pipeline. We put all the character renders in a Flickr set you to check out or download for your own personal use.
I have to say, all these models look pretty amazing. I hope everyone at Sucker Punch, Guerrilla Games, and Insomniac think so too!

I thought these were free? The characters have no voices? I think I will wait for a bundle. They could have given you the eye of indra comics with this for an extra 2 dollars or something.
That’s the best part, they make no sounds. You can’t be heard when jumping and landing on edges.

I’m not sure what the big deal about the skins are, they don’t improve game play on any strong level besides visual. Obviously you have made us a visually stunning play ground to begin with. So why not move on to something that enhances game play, and reduces Repetitiveness. I believe the game should have been released with DLC but that could just be me. Also to release a game that has 31 game of the year nominations and only release a map, 1map and a hand full of skins in the first 5 months… for the lack of a better word I’ll say LAME! I personally will not spend my money on something that could and should have waited. Also I believe advertising should not cost the prospected buyer anything, after all that is all those skins are, lead characters from other SONY games, I’m sure the point I’m making is obvious.

I don’t know why anyone’s not mentioning it but the bull crap ammo deduction on the sniper riffles is ridiculous, I play co-op arena mainly and now the sniper riffle is useless, cutting it to 10 would have been reasonable but more then 50% absolutely irritating, also I never even heard it mentioned in your blogs. one more problem to add to your repertoire I suppose.
On a lighter note I do enjoy the came play for the most part. I just feel that a came company of your Popularity should have us sitting on our couch for hours playing, without us calling “bull” twenty times at connection issues, changes that were not stated to be made, glitches that make some situations impossible ect. Well I’m done with my rant thanks for reading.

stop your complaining and get over it but i should say that they ought to fix the spawning issues during the online game play i keep getting shot in the back when i spawn directly in the middle of the battlefield with the other team being able to see my name now thats BS.
Well if these people did read the title of this blog, it does only say ‘skins’ not ‘skins and voices’. Give the good men and women of naughty dog,who are working hard to bring the best out of a uncharted 2, a break for pity sack

i live in the US and i didnt get the skins either.
that’s why the costumes from eye of indra are europe exclusive at the moment.....
i buy it from store and this not work, i fill like they rob me,can any one help me to active this content, i download it and then make the install, but in multiplayer not show the new characters

I LOVE these skins, their animations are perfect to the charatcers themselfs. It’s also feels like an extra for Killzone and Resistance, as you can imagion them fighting in the jungle. Shame they don’t have voice but you can’t have everything. Also a very good way to advertise the other games, Thank you very much naughty dog.
If you can’t find them just wait for a bit, they’ll come. anyway can I ask is this a one off, or are there going to be more cross game skins to become compatable with uncharted 2, as I would love if there was a D.r Nerfarious skin, ( maybe not ratchet and clank skin as ratchet is small compared with other characters).

you should put a little big planet character add-on. or a playboy girl that will get us guys to buy it
thanks ND finally some DLC the skins look great(wish they had voices) since you guys put characters from other games I just wanted 2 point out some characters from other games that might have been cool also like Nariko from heavenly sword Snake and Liquid Ocelot from MGS4 and Kratos still I’m glad we got some DLC keep up the good work you guys rule!!!
no offence ND but this is the dumbest thing that has come out for uncharted 2. these characters dont belong in the game what so ever. and people saying to add more characters that dont belong in this game,like mgs 1. that games sucks entirely 2. if u want to play as an mgs character go play mgs duh. and now that these new characters are silent the people that are to lazy to get the platinum trophy can buy these things instead of working for marco polo or ghangas khan. either way my opinion is u should have brought in crash banicoot or some old naughty dog characters not other games characters. i think it sucks.
ive got gangis kahna and marco polo but i hate them i prefer sully to any character u can release or unlock

Yeah jaxter a joker skin would be really cool also a solid snake from mgs4 (old or young snake)and riden as i heard some people say.
I don’t the the sackboy/girl idea is a good one because i just don’t think it would fit in. Just my opinion.

Dude i had the same problem but when u go on playstation store dont go to “GAMES” stright away go to “GAME ADD ONS” and read each and every name carefuly so that way u make sure u hadnt miss anything.

If this is true, I want my money back… I bought the game from UK but i live in portugal… the skin pack doesn’t work on me… please fix this problem.

It is not Sony or Naughty Dog’s fault that you went and bought a game from a different region, and now you bought DLC that won’t work…
well most games like RE Kill zone 2 and little bog planet they all worked fine for me and plus ilive in libya :X and all the games there are from europe and igo to the uk sometimes so iget my voucher cards from there :X but :( am just that am not going to get new dlc like co op missions and stuff

Doesn’t work for me neither. Bought the game in the UK, live in Belgium. Didn’t want to have it in French and did not expect to have it such a problem! I couldn’t use indra skins neither btw. Bought both packs, no one works. I ‘d like to be reimbursed then! Fix it, please.
Same thing here..I’m from Greece, bought the game in Greece, payed and downloaded the Heroes skin pack last night and it is not working.
So ND is there an alternative to work around this issue..? Otherwise how do we get our money back..?
Having said that..although I’m eagerly anticipating the DLC map pack..now I know that it won’t work for me and therefore probably wont even bother.
why buy the game in the uk if you can buy it in portugal??? that is your fault. i wouldn’t give you the money back if i was the one who sold you the game.

I second this. Thanks ND for the hard work. I, as well as many others, would like to thank you for the new DLC and what is coming our way in the future. And as for all the ungrateful people… S*%t on them. Those of us who work hard for a living know any smart business can not just give away a product. How on earth would that company stay in business to keep dishing out great titles? ND doesn’t owe us anything other than making sure the product they put out works well and it stays that way. I think ya’ll are doing a great job of that as of now. I can only speak for myself when I say that I had already purchased the DLC skins and plan on purchasing future DLC as well.

I have seen so many people with this skin pack. But i just dont have any money.
So ND, are you going to fix my problem or what? I can’t have access to the DLC I bought because my game is from UK but I live in another country… I said this before but I was totally ignored… I don’t want to be rude but I feel cheated cuz I bought something that doesn’t work and this is the first time that happened.
yeah next DLC should be some characters from the jak and daxter saga. i would pay 20 bucks for that
I purchased the skin pack just to support the DLC and to help keep it going. However, I don’t agree with adding skins from other games, especially with no sound. Kinda makes the silent movement booster useless. I think it could have been handled differently, there are plenty of other characters that could have been added. How about a swimsuit Chloe?

ND i love the skin pack it dont matter if they have voices or not because hearing them talk isnt that important
for the next skin pack i say u should put the navarro, pirate, eddy raja, eddy’s sister, Gabe Roman, the monsters from the first game, and the guardians from U2, maybe not all but some would be nice, and more co-op levels and game types

Opinion:
I can live without skins, that doesnt extend my playtime. I want new maps etc who makes everythin a new expierince.
These skins are SOUNDLESS? Boy, i thought they had their own voiceovers from their games but no. Now they have the same tactical advantage as the skeletons: soundless! Now everyone has that advantage, at least regarding the skeletons you really had do play much to get this skeletal skins, it was worth it!
i thought level 60+ would be able to buy these first and when are we to supposed to spend our all-earned-cash in the game? For this skin-release was a great oppotirunity..

I like that they dont have voices, because when your climbing or jumping enemies cant hear you.

It’s probably available when the store updates. It’s different for each region. I can’t check till I’m done with my 9 to 5. Can’t wait to get home

I live in Canada, I’m looking really forward to getting the heros skin pack, but I cannot get it. It wont even show up in the PLation Store. I would love to get the Skins. HOW!!??? and help??? Do I have to get an update, becasue if canadians don’t get this that unfair. And they just said its avalible for around the world.?? HELP!!!!!

You have to wait for the Psn store to update. Canadians get the update around 5pm and I think UK is 8pm check later and they should be there.

UK got it about 11am or so GMT. I was playing it earlier after buying them. Great skins. Do wish they would talk though. It’s one of my favorite things about Uncharted’s original characters.

what do you mean ‘available for everyone’? have you been informed that’s available only for specific copies??? according to the BSS code of my copy,the pack doesn’t work for me..And now the 1 million dollar question: how stupid is that? did i pay less money for my inferior copy? no! so,why am i not treated equally? do you know what ‘’malakas’’ feels like in greek? i want an answer

i agree with Harrijet. soundless? you know i worked long and hard to finish the single player mode on crushing. i played normal, hard and crushing. and when the game wouldnt give me the last trophy i needed for platinum, after playing through ch. 4 numerous times on all levels i finally had to erase saved game data and my psn id and start over to get that last one and the platinum. and i got one free skeleon and paid 1.5 mil for the other. the fact that they were silent is the incentve that the rest of the members of my clan have gone back into single player to finish on crushing and get the platinum. the fact that they were the only silent skins was a really cool bonus that whoever accomplished these things really really really deserved. and it wasnt exclusive to some part of the world over another part etc. anyone willing to put time and effort into it could also have them .
the release of these silent skins feels like a slap in the face. what is the point of all that effort? once again money talks and hard work and effort get the boot. imho.

If I wanted to play as characters from Killzone, Resistance, and Infamous, I’d have bought those three games.
Completely stupid idea putting them in Uncharted.
Not to mention from what I’ve seen of people using them, they look awful.

I just installed the new update, but i still can’t find the downloadable content? Is it out in Washington DC yet?

2. Can we expect one day to be able to choose a custom skin at least in the Co-op Arena & Gold Rush modes? It seems dumb not to be able to use different skins other than the defaults, while those modes are not much different from the Comp Deathmatch & Plunder modes. Thanks in advance for considering it!
I agree with you. This is a pretty stupid idea to country lock games inside the European Union. I’ve always bought my game in the UK to be sure to have the english track on disc.
Anyway, those skins actually looks good in game. I wasn’t really enthusiastic about bringing outsiders to the Uncharted world, especially those ones, but ND artists and designers did a great job. They don’t really feel out of place, as I was afraid they would be. I might grab a psn card next time I’m in London or Cardiff and create an uk account to get them
Your second point is a very valid one. It would be great to be able to use any skin we want in coop arena
Hey ND you guys should of made skins of some players from the MLB The Show, maybe Manny Ramirez or Alex Rodriguiez
I won’t be getting them for 3 reasons 1. There SOUNDLESS there basically “cheat” characters (like the skeletons) creeping around unlike Flynn and the rest which can be heard across the map(Good thing) 2. Again they have no voice so no hilarious comments like other characters example Flynn “Come here your so beautiful” when he picks up a weapon LOL 3. They reck the feel you dont ‘feel’ that your playing U2 MP now :( you dont see Drake in Killzone
OH and for god sake do something about connection errors and stalls on the “Chose you boosters 5,4,3,2,1..................for like 20 mins ive after losing 160,000 in 4 matches like seriously....an dont say its my connection because I have a 15mb nat type 2(not strict) 87% wireless connection
might be the 87% connection. a friend of mine had the same problem, but his % was like 57 or something. He had 20 min problem you described above
