UNCHARTED 2 soundtrack in stores today

UNCHARTED 2 soundtrack in stores today

Earlier today we posted on the PlayStation.Blog that today, February 9, marks the physical media CD release of the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves original soundtrack. We were pleased and honored to work again with Greg Edmonson—who also created the score for UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune, just in case you didn’t know that already. But I’m sure you did.

You can find the CD release at major stores and at your preferred online retailer starting today.

As an additional bonus, the CD release of the original soundtrack includes three previously unreleased tracks: “Take That!,” “Tunnel Vision,” and “The Heist.” You can preview the tracks on the PlayStation.blog.

I’ve also recently learned that the label, Sumthin Else Music Works, has the entire UNCHARTED 2 original soundtrack available for download on their online store. You can also download the additional unreleased tracks separately at the online store, in case you already picked up the whole soundtrack via the iTunes release last year.

I know this is completely unrelated to the blog post but why is everybody showing up as rank 1 in the Ranked playlist? It’s probably been discussed before but I haven’t heard anything about it and the ranking has been messed up for me for awhile now.

DarkDuneMRK posted February 10, 2010 8:44 am

The Rank issue was fixed recently - see previous ND Blog posts.  MANY haven’t played Ranked games since X-mas during the Rank “reset to 1” issue as it made it a pointless match option.  Yesterday I saw I had Rank 7.  People may all be Rank 1 cause they haven’t played Ranked since the issue started, and are now getting back in to it.  Is the issue happening again?

law952 posted February 10, 2010 11:10 am

no as my Rank level has reset from 10 to 1, and I hadn’t even being playing, it happened when I was offine. I didn’t even play that playlist until it was fix but now it’s doing this again, I’m thinking, could this be some sort of trophie, like get to level 30 within a mouth, and reset the rank and start again, and could there be more trophies for the online play, as I feel I’m not getting rewards from playing hours on it. as there could be a sliver trophie to get to overal level 50, and a gold trophie for overall level 60, and other things like that.

Also if I see these CD’s in the shops I will be getting it thank you naughty dog

DRUNK_CANADIAN posted February 10, 2010 1:18 pm

No there are no hidden trophies...and when was the last time you played ranked with your level 10. Either A, you abused or B you haven’t played since they reset all ranks due to internal server problems (some people had level 1 glitch and they had to reset all ranks as a result).

DRUNK_CANADIAN posted February 10, 2010 1:19 pm

By no hidden trophies I mean none that are like what you’re suggesting

law952 posted February 11, 2010 7:04 am

I haven’t beening playing on it for long, before the glitch came back. and what I meen by the trophies, is trophie that add to you trophie collection

M-Brother posted February 9, 2010 8:25 pm

I really liked both soundtracks to both games, the instruments seemed natural to the locales. The first game on the tropical island had lots of cool “jungle” drums. And U2 had that cool, creepy instrument when you’re inside the Himalayan ice caves. Thank you for going with instruments that were gorgeous and also made sense!

tominator21 posted February 9, 2010 8:29 pm

I had the same problem. Ranked playlist is broken. Everyone is a lvl 1 again.

brinstarx posted February 9, 2010 8:34 pm

Awesome. Totally buying the CD. Loved the music.

ShaoranLi posted February 9, 2010 8:53 pm

THIS I did NOT see coming. If I knew about this, I would have not bought the one on iTunes!!!!  But THANKS this is a dream come true. I’ve always preferred getting my music in physical media, since you can own them in CD quality and rip them at whatever quality you want. I wonder if these unreleased tracks are the ones left out of the other release, ‘cause there were so many tracks missing from the soundtrack.

And I also hope you guys do this for Drake’s Fortune, too ‘cause that was the first and firsts’ are always important. That said, it had a great soundtrack to begin with.

I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem my all of my stats reset!!!-I am very upset about this, naughty dog please look into the issue.

RomanB posted February 9, 2010 10:41 pm

Great cover!

Will it be released on PSN?

JayLowe posted February 10, 2010 3:09 am

Naughty Dog, will you please release a statement regarding Patch 1.4 and what it actually does?

A lot of people, including myself, have now stopped playing this game - or have signed up other accounts - because we’re constantly hearing about people having their ranks reset. From Level 56 to Level One, all because of ONE disconnect, and they’ve previously never had any Error Syncing Data issues at all. Apparently this is the way it’s going to be from now on, that this is your way of preventing any further issues. If that’s true, then that’s even WORSE!

Before, the Error Syncing Data only affected a small number of people - they’re now a LOT more who aren’t playing because of fear that their rank might be randomly reset.

What’s going on?!?

A LOT of information is flying around. Can you please let us know whether it’s true, or whether it’s speculation? I think we all deserve nothing but the truth and some honesty.

With all of this information flying around, it’s only putting people off, and the number of online players is just going to continue to fall.

Please put the record straight, ND, and tell us EXACTLY what’s going on, because FAR too many people are randomly having their ranks reset and I don’t want it to happen to me.

amandoplay3 posted February 10, 2010 4:30 am

I am a level 58 (VIII) user.
Now level 1........
I dont play more, if i dont see my level 58 and my cash, restore my level and my cash.
Bye.

JayLowe posted February 10, 2010 6:22 am

I don’t blame you. I’ve already said that if my level is reset, I’m selling Uncharted 2 and I wouldn’t even bat an eyelid at Uncharted 3, or any other ND game.

OTT? Perhaps, but I don’t give second chances, and I just wouldn’t trust ND ever again. No way would I spend another minute, or another penny, on any ND product if they ever took away something I’ve put a lot of time and effort into.

In this day and age, stuff like this just shouldn’t be happening, it’s as simple as that.

If I was head of ND, I’d have my people, one way or another, go and manually amend and restore the stats of everyone affected by this. It’s the least they could do. Yeah, it’d take hours, but it took us hours to work towards that level!

LiToDiAl posted February 10, 2010 7:08 am

I can’t believe that they have no record of people’s pre-reset stats.  And that there is absolutely no way to bump someone up with cash and rank.  This should all be automated.  Hit a key to restore a list of people.  I’m not a game programmer, and don’t know squat about this stuff, but in this day and age, how was this not thought through before implementation?

JayLowe posted February 10, 2010 3:12 am

Also, I think there needs to be a seperate section where people can post feedback out in the open. There’s no where to do that currently, so blog entry after blog entry just gets hijacked and taken off topic within no time at all with random questions, queries, etc.

fc_sinnfrei posted February 10, 2010 4:04 am

come on guys… i know, it’s very annoying, losing the rank, but for what are the complaining people playing this game? is it just to get the highest rank? be happy, that it’s working! or will you not play anymore, when you reached rank x?

JayLowe posted February 10, 2010 5:53 am

I don’t think it’s complaining, I think it’s raising a fairly big and important issue, one that ND should address and set the record straight on.

I play for fun and because I think it’s an awesome game, but yes, I also like the fact that I’m a fairly high level player. It’s an achievement, and it’s something I’ve put quite a lot of time and effort into, which is why I don’t want ND to take it away from me for absolutely no reason, through no fault of my own.

It sounds like you’re easily pleased - and that’s fair enough. You just want to play and don’t care about anything else. But in that case, why have trophies? Why have the optiono of unlocking stuff? Why bother completing a game? Why bother having ranks, boosters and skins you can buy? Let’s just get rid of all of that and let’s just have a stripped down, straight forward game that we all just play and that’s it. Let’s regress back to the early 90’s.

I’m joking, of course… but now that I mention it, ND might as well do that if this is their way of fixing the ESD problems. Just close up the store and let’s not bother with unlocking anything - it’ll only get taken away from you in the end, anyway.

LiToDiAl posted February 10, 2010 7:05 am

Getting a high rank is an accomplishment.  One that takes many many hours of invested gameplay.  It’s there for a reason.  When you login and see that the past two months of trying to achieve a certain goal has been wiped out, it’s extremely discouraging.

I’ll still play when I reach rank X.  It’s a symbol of my achievement and dedicated time to this game.  If I was reset to rank 0, I’d be infuriated.  A ranking system is a way to increase longevity of the game.  It shows you’ve been part of a community.  If there is a persistent problem in the way it’s done, it should be wiped completely for everyone.  This way everyone can approach the game as only a way to shoot the breeze and have fun.  Achieving rank is a large part of the fun right now.  ND needs to get their act together.

My friends just got on this game and are at level 10.  I mostly play with them now and show them the ropes.  I’m still working on my rank though.  If I lost my rank, I’d be done with the game for the most part, only going online once a week maybe to hook up with them in co-op or something.

umm just wondering why would i buy this soundtrack when its free on youtube? maps nd maps that what we need its boringgggggg same maps

LiToDiAl posted February 10, 2010 7:09 am

I’m definitely getting this soundtrack!  I whistle the theme song all day at work raspberry

DarkDuneMRK posted February 10, 2010 8:45 am

A GREAT soundtrack!  I will probably get it!

elcomandante56 posted February 10, 2010 9:15 am

The ranked issue isn’t as big of an issue as the glitches are.  It seems everytime ND fixes common glitches, new ones appear.  The 2 newest ones that I keep seeing are: The Lost City at the desert “hole” at the base of the enemy stairs & The Fort has two, both at the sides of where both sides spawn.  There are many others too… I love Uncharted 2 and I think the online gameplay is the best on the playstation network but these glitches take the fun out of matches.  Thoughts anyone?

xImpactt posted February 10, 2010 5:42 pm

The Uncharted 2 soundtrack is EPIC, can’t wait to get my hands on this

JoseTK2 posted February 10, 2010 6:25 pm

This will be released on PSN, otherwise I can’t get it because I am outside of the USA.

darthmilo77 posted February 10, 2010 10:25 pm

I got it on iTunes, but I’m hoping to buy it again on CD. It seems like kind of a gimmick to release the physical version several months later with new tracks, but is good that you can buy the new tracks separately. It seems a little weird that the new tracks are after the credit song on the CD, but again, good for those who want to buy the new tracks but don’t want to reorder all their song files.

Any plans for a Drake’s Fortune CD?

kikaz posted February 11, 2010 3:08 pm

Just a guess: it takes longer to product and distribute physical media even though Sony *is* a also a music label. I would also like a Drake’s Fortune soundtrack!

jackthemayor posted February 14, 2010 6:22 pm

Second bring out drake’s fortune ost on cd. I don’t like to use the itunes service now that I no longer have an iPod. Personally I prefer the PSP over the iPod for a number of reasons, besides the games. I personally prefer to have the option of making my own digital copy from a physical. Sure the physical may never see the light of day after I make my own mp3’s from it. But I would have it, and if I ever did buy a CD player for my car or home, I would have a copy that is as close to owning the master.

fire_spirited posted February 11, 2010 3:11 am

The soundtracks are awesome! Composer is extremely tallented!

kikaz posted February 11, 2010 3:11 pm

Wow, now I don’t have to bid on or steal a Fortune Hunter’s edition to get the CD! smile

I’m glad you’re releasing the CD, I’m going to get it because I love the soundtrack and prefer physical media. The excerpts that play during the multiplayer matchmaking are great!

Dragon1980 posted February 16, 2010 12:46 pm

Just got this in the post today brilliant.
Didn’t know, exactly how much music is crammed into Uncharted 2. nice one ND.

ZHX1138 posted February 16, 2010 6:46 pm

This is great news. I feel this should have been done with the first soundtrack too. But all well can’t get everything I guess. I’m glad the put in three extra tracks like when sucker-punch released the infamous soundtrack to cd this year. Please let us know when it appears on amazon.com
