Uncharted 3 The Lab: 5 v 5 Team Death Match - Riot Shields, Arm Micros, and Grenades

The next lab is live! Hop online to play 5 v 5 Team Death Match with Riot Shields, Arm Micros, and Grenades. We also fixed the DLC Toggle.

An update was deployed to Uncharted 3 last night that opened the doors on the next lab. Fire up multiplayer and head over to the Lab playlist to engage in 5 v 5 Team Death Match that features riot shields, arm micros, and grenades only. Grab a shield for some cover then lob some grenades or spray uzi gunfire in all directions as you try to take down your opponents. Your kickback and boosters are disabled so don't forget the effectiveness of a well planned melee attack from behind!

We also issued an minor fix that will correct any trouble with DLC maps not appearing when you had the DLC toggle turned on and you had already downloaded certain map packs. Right now we set Flashback map pack 2 as the priority for DLC maps so here's a breakdown of what you should be seeing when you play:

The biggest issue is player pool size. We need a way to filter out who purchased DLC or not so matchmaking can happen for the people who did purchase DLC maps. The chart explains what happens if you only own one or another of the map packs.

Again we didn’t want our DLC to be a buy all or play on Default maps only situation like many other MP games do. We’re giving our players some choice regarding what they want to buy or not.

Like I already said, that would cause player pool issues and would make matchmaking tedious. We’ve tested multiple ways of how players are matched together, and this current plan turned out to be the best one. We’re trying to make everyone as happy as possible.

The people who don’t have FBMP #2 will have to wait when their DLC pack gets prioritized.

Ok, say we could open it up so that anyone who got any DLC maps would be in the same pool. Say you brought all the DLC map packs. You have a guy come into this new matchmaking (the anyone with DLC pool) that only has purchased FBMP1. Just because this one guy is in the matchmaking pool now everyone in the match will be forced to play on FBMP1 or Default maps.

Does it make sense why we do priority?

Yeah, thanks for the clarification. But expect lots of people raging on the forums and elsewhere regarding this issue, because clearly, what’s happening now (with the priority system) renders people who buy one pack useless.

Anyways, it doesn’t matter to me, I have all DLC maps.

OK Eric, I understand why you are doing this prioritization thing, but you have to understand that many people will be pissed off when they realize that they can only play their DLC maps once in a while ("when their DLC pack gets prioritized” as you said).

There is no such warning in the PS store and quite honestly, I wouldn’t blame them if they asked for a refund from Sony.

Personally, I am a FHC member and I have all maps, but I can still feel their frustration.

If you ever make Uncharted 4, please consider to release all Competitive DLC maps free of charge (like Fort in UC2 MP). You can still charge fans for skins/colours/weapons/emblems/Co-op maps/Co-op modes and stuff like that.

Please, discuss it with Sony. They have already enforced such a policy in Starhawk, so it’s certainly possible to do it in the future.

This lab is one of my favorite so far. There is only one problem that I can tell so far with it. You can’t pick up anymore amo for the arm micro. which makes it tough to get kills when I have only the riot shield after 4-6 kills.

Great work so far though I can’t wait to see the rest of the patch notes ^_^

Eric, I tried to reach you on the last update with a questions question regarding my current level. I was a level 75 3rd legacy, no star, prior to accepting the EULA. I have video proof of me being at least 3rd legacy 63. I’ve worked my way up to 39 no legacy today, but I really do want my old level back, even if it means i dont get my previous treasures. Is there anyway to change my level back? I really do love this game and am looking forward to the next patch, so please, please reply.

It’s good, but has problems. The ammo is the biggest of ‘em. Why is there only 90 bullets? And you cannot even collect ammo unless the guy who was killed didn’t have a riot shield. Did you guys even test this? How couldn’t you notice this problem?

I kill 3-4 enemies, and that’s it. I have zero ammo, and keep running like an idiot waiting to die. Fix this.
