Well, it sure has been an interesting morning, don’t you think?

About 3 hours ago, Entertainment Weekly were the first to reveal what you probably knew was coming anyway – that the next UNCHARTED game has been in development here at Naughty Dog and it will be called UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception.

We’re really excited (and can now breathe a sigh of relief) to have announced UNCHARTED 3—we’re absolutely looking forward to working hard on the game over the next year and telling you all about it along the way!

You can get further details about we’re able to currently share from my blog post that just went up on the PlayStation Blog. A brief, top line look at all the info that’s been released so far is copied below.

UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception features the return of famed fortune hunter Nathan Drake and follows him through a gripping, action-packed storyline that will take you all over the world. In his search for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands,” Nathan Drake and longtime friend and mentor Victor Sullivan set off on a daring trek into the heart of the Arabian Desert. But when terrible secrets of this lost city are uncovered, their journey becomes a desperate bid for survival that will force him to confront his deepest fears.

Throughout UNCHARTED 3, you’ll be taken to spectacular new locations around the globe that will showcase all of the work we’ve taken on to take our physics, particle and visual effects to a new level.

Competitive and co-op multiplayer will return as a key ingredient to the UNCHARTED 3 package, where all of the new features we have planned will combine with our signature single-player cinematic gameplay to create a unique action-adventure multiplayer experience that can only be found in the UNCHARTED universe.

Oh, and there’s one more thing – UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception fully supports high-resolution Stereoscopic 3D.

Our announcement has now put a lot of things we’ve been planning carefully for a long time in motion, and you’ll start seeing a lot of that over the next few weeks. As you can see on the Entertainment Weekly article, you’ll want to watch the Spike VGA 2010 show on Saturday, December 11, for more UNCHARTED 3.

Beyond that you’ll start seeing a ton of content being placed on the PSN Store, many, many articles and more. We’ll be sure to point you to all the new news that is coming out, just in case you somehow happened to miss it. I don’t think that will be much of a problem…

When will you create a thread about tips for singel/mutliplayer? im sure many of us has many suggestion, i think singleplayer is MOSt important!!

Is it possible/to late for us players to give you tips on the single-player mode???

* Game in 3D option? Hm...many many DONT have 3D tv´s, will you make hard effort to make it gorgeoys for us who DONT have 3D tv´s also?

* Make better AI for the enemies in the game. And oh..not TO many gunfights, it felt unreal that Zoran had THAT big army.

* Exceed Among thieves? Hell i hope so, its gonna be difficult BUT you would be able to do it, really!!

* I belive this will be game of 2011 (IF its released then), i hope so!!

I’m so excited, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, woooohhhooo! Awesome!

I really love Uncharted, its characters, story, gameplay, everything is perfect!

Well done Naughty Dog!!

Looking forward to the VGAs and can’t wait to see and read more about Uncharted 3!!!

Hey,it would be cool if uncharted 3 could have 2 people paying from the same ps3, i mean i have a brother and he is a good player it would be cool if i could play with him a the same time cause i do not own another ps3

YES!!! Finally some news about Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception! :D I have been so exited about this game from the day that I got Uncharted 2: Among Thieves! I have both Uncharted games, got Platinum on both of them, reatched level XI on Multiplayer, and played through both stories many times! :D I’m your biggest fan, Naughty Dog, and thank u guys for this awesome news!

I can’t wait to play the game and I hope that there will be a few more multiplayer and coop mods.... and it would be cool if it’s possible to play online with all the Uncharted 2 player^^

I’m going to make an assumption here… The reason in house multi player was missing in the Uncharted 2 was due to the graphical hit the game would take rendering the images twice on the screen… Now, with the inclusion of 3D in Uncharted 3 I feel it safe to say that they’ve refined the engine to work superbly while displaying the image multiple times thus opening the door for in home multi player gaming (ableit not in 3D.)

Tomorrow is my son’s 9th birthday, he has been a massive uncharted fan since he got his ps3, you guys just totally ruined my birthday gift to him because this is all he cares about now so thanks for the announcement but damn you at the same time

ND, thank you for giving me something to agonize over for the next year or so… I’m sure it will have an amazing story as well as an amazing multiplayer experience. As a huge fan of co-op, I’m really looking forward to seeing what new features will be added!

Cannot wait for this game. I called it in 2009, and Im calling it now, Uncharted 3, Game of the Year 2011. I dont care what people call me, call me a fanboy, i dont care. I was called it before when the first trailer for U2 came out, and ill be called it again. But I can guarentee the minute we see the actual trailer for Uncharted 3, many others will feel the same, which is why with JUST this teaser trailer, Im calling it, Uncharted 3 GotY 2011. With that in mind, I know I have a new desktop background, thanks for posting pics Naughty Dog, my eyes are amazed and my background is sick as hell

Super, you guys rock!!. Uncharted 2 was my first game on my ps3 and i’m now an addict I can’t wait what kind of beautifull story you guys give us. I hope it its even better than UC2, but that would be almost impossible. 2011 ROCKS!!!! Already

This really made my day, I can’t stop smiling and I randomly chuckle out in joyful laughter due to this.

Great to hear Sully will be playing a larger role in UC3 than in UC2, he’s by no doubt “the man”. About Drake though, I got a bit worried he’d end up looking like a playboy looking at those pics. Please no, bring us the sarcastic and clumsy Drake we know and love!

Thank you loads ND, really looking forward to sitting up at night watching the VGAs through a shitty stream. (If somebody does one that is)

I can’t WAIT for this game! I’m really anxious to see if Spike’s VGAs has more footage, pictures anything. The co op and Multi player sound awesome to!

I really hope Chloe is back in 3 soooo badly! =D I’ll definitely be goin to pre-order soon!

Since Chrash Bandicoot you guys made me fan.
Seriously you guys make the best singeplayer games ever!
If you guys made the multiplayer also that good as the singleplayer then you would piss on every other game developments that make 3rd person games.
