An update was deployed to Uncharted 3 last night that opened the doors on the next lab. Fire up multiplayer and head over to the Lab playlist to engage in 5 v 5 Team Death Match that features riot shields, arm micros, and grenades only. Grab a shield for some cover then lob some grenades or spray uzi gunfire in all directions as you try to take down your opponents. Your kickback and boosters are disabled so don't forget the effectiveness of a well planned melee attack from behind! We also issued an minor fix that will correct any trouble with DLC maps not appearing when you had the DLC toggle turned on and you had already downloaded certain map packs. Right now we set Flashback map pack 2 as the priority for DLC maps so here's a breakdown of what you should be seeing when you play: I have "___" Installed Toggle On Toggle Off No DLC Default Default FBMP 1 Only Default Default FBMP 2 Only DLC Default UC3DDMP Only Default Default FBMP1 & Read more...

We just pushed out an update to The Lab playlist in Uncharted 3 multiplayer just in time for the Independence Day holiday here in the United States. Jumping into The Lab will see you pitting in tense 3 vs 3 Sniper and Pistole only matches of Plunder! As part of the update today, we also changed the filter for DLC - based on your feedback - to favor Flashback Map Pack 2. Anyone who has Flashback Map Pack 2 downloaded and installed (and your DLC filter on) should be seeing those maps come up way more frequently in matches. One more thing - cinema files recording during the previous episode of The Lab will playback a little weird. The gameplay will play back fine, but the scoreboard won't be accurate and will try score the game based on Plunder. Don't freak out. With the July 4 Independence Day holiday tomorrow in the US - we hope to see a bunch of you on trying out The Lab. Happy Holidays! Read more...

We’ve seen a tremendous amount of feedback during the first few days of the Subway Taste for Adventure full competitive Uncharted 3 multiplayer experience. Many of you drew upon your experiences from the Late June/July multiplayer beta and we have been listening to your concerns. We pushed a new update live today that will address some of those concerns. The changes include that tweaks to kickbacks, weapons, and the timing of sprint. Specific changes are: - Stopping Power is back. - RPG Kickback cost has changed from 8 medals to 10 - Sprint duration has changed from 6 seconds to 4.5 seconds - AK-47 recoil is tuned - G-MAL recoil is tuned Comments have been made about the increased effectiveness of run and gun, but the accuracy has actually been reduced since the Beta. The removal of stopping power is what created this perception. So the old Spray n’ Pray remains true to the phrase. So aside from the turn radius of the sprint, your gameplay Read more...

Penny Arcade and Naughty Dog have been mutual fans for quite a while -- we compiled their Jak II and not one, but two, Uncharted 2 related comics in a post here on NaughtyDog.com way back in 2009. We couldn't be more thrilled to find a way to work with them as closely and as often as possible -- we try to have some sort of presence at every PAX and we sent over an Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition for the Child's Play Charity Dinner Auction in 2009, among other thing. They're all just a really good crew at Penny Arcade. We've never been able to team up in any sort of official capacity, but that time has now come. As revealed on PlayStation.Blog and by Gabe on Penny-Arcade.com, Gabe put his signature artistic style of a selection of the Uncharted 3 cast for a poster. The ONLY way to grab this poster is to pre-order the Uncharted 3 standard edition or Uncharted 3 Collector's Edition from GameStop - either online or in-person. I can't tell you how excited we were to premiere a new Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception gameplay demo (and reveal) at the PlayStation press conference at Gamescom 2011. We had shown this very demo to a very select group of press back at E3 2011, yet we kept it under wraps until our planned public reveal at Gamescom. If you missed the PlayStation press conference, and my on-stage LIVE playthrough of the cargo plane gameplay demo, check out the video below for direct feed of the same demo. We had a treat for the press who came to our behind closed doors presentations at Gamescom - they got to see what happens to Drake after he climbs back up into the plane. As a special treat to our fans, we brought that same demo to PAX Prime just a week later and showed it off in our Uncharted 3 theater in back-to-back-to-back demos for three straight days! If you missed us at PAX Prime (for shame!), check the video below to see the rest of the cargo plane sequence. While we were at PAX Read more...

Earlier today, July 12, we started getting reports that some users were logging back into the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta and finding that their progress in the game has been reset. Many players have had to re-accept the online agreement when logging in to the Beta and their profile shows they are at level 1, with no XP accumulated or Cash remaining in their profile. We’re actively looking into what caused the issue so we can prevent it from happening in the future. We know this is particularly worrying for those of you who have been working towards to the Uncharted 3 Beta rewards – we’ve reposted the details on the Beta rewards at the end of this post. IF you were one of the players affected by this profile reset, here’s the scoop: The GOOD news is that your progress towards those rewards has NOT been lost – we still have all of your detailed play history by game stored safely and ALL games you have played in the past and are playing right Read more...

PAX East is right around the corner and we hope that any of you who were interested in attending managed to get tickets before the convention sold out on Monday. We had a great time at the inaugural PAX East last year with our panel Naughty Dog Live & Unleashed - Game Design with the Dogs. So much fun that we wanted to come back even though the studio is massively busy cranking away on UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. We had the incredible privilege recently to work with 2 Player Productions – you may remember them from PATV Season 1 and the massive buzz surrounding their Minecraft Kickstarter project – on a behind the scenes piece covering the lead up to the announcement of UNCHARTED 3. I know many of you have seen Part 1 of their UNCHARTED 3 behind the scenes piece and have been wondering when Part 2 will be released. Wonder no more – during our PAX East panel with 2 Player Productions, titled The Making of an Announcement – Uncharted 3: Read more...

Last week, a few of us headed up to San Francisco to attend GDC 2011 for a busy week of sessions and an extremely well-attended press event. With the PlayStation.Blog blogger lounge at the W hotel filled to near capacity, we presented two new aspects to UNCHARTED 3: Drake's Deception - gameplay in stereoscopic 3D and the main antagonist, Katherine Marlowe. It's awesome to now be able to talk about this as the press embargo lifted earlier this morning -- apart from our blog post here and on the PlayStation.Blog, be sure to visit any of the numerous publications who attended for their take on the event and the reveals. The press event started off with a demo of the UNCHARTED 3 burning chateau gameplay sequence, but it was presented in stereoscopic 3D for the first time ever outside of the studio. As I had mentioned over on the PlayStation.Blog, I feel that with this small snippet of gameplay we’ve proven that we’re able to perfectly retain all of the Read more...

While the studio was on holiday break, another barrage of UNCHARTED 3 news, interviews and gameplay videos hit the internets. We’ve put a list of all the coverage we found below. But first, check out an embedded playlist of the three direct feed videos of the UNCHARTED 3 Chateau gameplay we showed off to the press in November and December 2010. We’re honored to have worked with 2 Player Productions to provide our community with a stellar behind the scenes look at all the work Naughty Dog put into creating the reveal trailer and all the announcement activities for UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. You may know 2 Player Productions from their acclaimed documentary Reformat the Planet, as the documentary force behind the first season of PATV, or for their Infamous Developer Diaries – I cannot recommend enough that you watch all of those videos as soon as you can. I first heard of 2PP back in 2008 when Reformat the Planet was making a splash at SXSW – I may have downloaded the entire film from the streaming file because I liked it so much, don’t tell! It couldn’t have been more awesome to find out earlier this year that forces were already at work to bring 2PP and Naughty Dog together in the first of what I hope is a lengthy partnership to provide an exhaustive look at the game development Read more...

Bright and early this morning—at 3 AM PST, 6 AM EST and 11 AM GMT—the embargo lifted on impressions from members of the press to our gameplay demo that they got to see behind closed doors late last month and earlier this week. We’ll try to compile links to all the impressions and new information on UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception below. But first… The embargo also lifted on a set of screenshots from ACTUAL gameplay that you can check out on our Flickr photostream. We’ve also released direct feed video of the gameplay sequence that made it’s world premiere earlier this week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on the Naughty Dog YouTube channel.
