Graphic Designer (Temporary Assignment)

This position is for a temporary engagement through our staffing partner Yoh Services.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States for this position.


Naughty Dog is looking for a resourceful, detail-oriented graphic designer to join our environment team. The primary role of the Graphic Designer will be to create fictional brand identities for The Last of Us Part II. This person will have the opportunity to create logos, signage, and illustrations that will make the environment of our game feel more realistic and grounded.

The Graphic Designer must be prepared to hit the ground running on several brand identities, while maintaining the highest levels of quality and brand integrity. In addition, this person must be prepared to collaborate with directors at Naughty Dog and the Sony legal team, while implementing their own creative direction.


  • Create the design, and manage the approval of corporate identities of all the fictional businesses and products in the world of the Last of Us
  • Produce logos, symbols, illustrations, graphics, and select typography, for fictional businesses and brands in the game
  • Capturing the look and feel of existing real world brands and re-imagining them to fit the architype brands we need for the game
  • Able to communicate and work iteratively with the Art directors
  • Managing the approval process and iterations of the branding with Sony legal
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Requirements & Skills:

  • Graphic design education with emphasis in typography
  • 2- 5 years of design experience in an agency environment or the gaming/entertainment industry
  • Expert proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  • Exceptional design aesthetic, versatility in visual style, and awareness of design trends and innovation
  • Experience designing across a wide variety of mediums and formats
  • Understanding of design theory, including layout, color, typography, hierarchy, as well as current design trends
  • Ability to follow design instructions, work within corporate templates, and implement style guides
  • Ability to pitch designs or recommendations to a wide variety of stakeholders inside and outside the studio, understanding their unique need states and motivations
  • Undertake the preparation to clearly defend their work or recommendations when challenged, especially in high-pressure situations where time is short
  • Be flexible with new ideas, being open to direction, and last-minute changes
  • Self-motivated; requires minimal check-ins to carry projects from start to end and meet deadlines
  • Freehand illustration capabilities
  • Proactively researches and pursues ideas for professional development

As a part of the Naughty Dog application process, candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio or demo reel of their work and may be asked to complete an art test.
