PlayStation Experience 2016 Recap

Game reveals, panels, meet and greets, public hands-on, and more.

Two game reveals, three panels, two meet and greets, 36 hands-on stations, and a live show appearance—PlayStation Experience 2016 was one of the biggest events in our studio’s history. The response we’ve received from the community, both at the show and online, has been overwhelming. Thank you all for your kind words and support. We can’t wait for what lies ahead, but for now, let’s take a look back at PSX.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Revealed

We were honored to have the opportunity to open the PSX Showcase with Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, our new standalone story chapter in the Uncharted series with returning fan-favorite Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross at the helm. If you missed it, don’t miss the blog post from project leads Shaun Escayg, Kurt Margenau, and Josh Scherr to learn more about what’s to come in The Lost Legacy. If you want to see the full nearly 9 minute gameplay demo from the Showcase again, check out the video below.

Following the Showcase, we hosted a special Uncharted: The Lost Legacy panel featuring moderator Sid Shuman, Shaun, Kurt, and Josh, as well as actors Claudia Black (Chloe) and Laura Bailey (Nadine). From the origins of the project to the return of both characters, watch below as the team shares early insights.

Afterward, we invited fans to join us for a meet and greet, where they could chat with the developers and actors, as well as have their Uncharted gear signed.

The Last of Us Part II

Alongside The Lost Legacy, we officially confirmed The Last of Us Part II with a world reveal trailer that closed out the Showcase. Many of us from the studio were in the audience and the reception from the crowd was unforgettable. We are truly fortunate to have such a passionate community of fans around the world.

If you missed the panel broadcast, be sure to watch as moderator Andy McNamara, writer and director Neil Druckmann, Ashley Johnson (Ellie), and Troy Baker (Joel) as they talk about coming back to the universe and characters, as well as provide background on the trailer. Once again, all attendees were invited to take part in a meet and greet following the panel.

Between the trailer debut and the panel, we’ve already seen YouTube renditions of “Through The Valley” and fan art. We’ve even seen some early cosplay and today, by popular request, we posted an early concept image of Ellie and high-res graphic of her tattoo for reference.

Uncharted 4: Survival First Hands-On

Throughout the weekend, PSX attendees also had a chance to be among the first to play Uncharted 4: Survival, our new cooperative and solo mode launching this month. We had 36 stations on the floor, where anyone could form a team of three and take on 5 waves, including an intense boss battle. Vinit Agarwal, a Game Designer on Survival, also sat down with PlayStation to talk about Survival as part of their PSX live show. Watch the archive here:

Accessibility: Making Games for All Gamers Panel

Earlier this year, we discussed the accessibility features we were building in Uncharted 4 to ensure that it could be enjoyed by as many gamers as possible, regardless of disability. This weekend at PSX, our own Alexandria Neonakis, a UI designer, joined other advocates and developers Ian Hamilton, Mark Barlet, Tara Voelker, and Josh Straub to talk about the work being done to improve accessibility for all gamers.

Thanks again to everyone who came out to see us this weekend at PSX and followed along from home. Keep an eye on NaughtyDog.com and our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat channels for more updates.
